In the past I used to use USPS for almost all my shipping but that last couple years FedEx has gotten to the point where FedEx often... is less expensive.
And I save and reuse the Amazon Prime envelopes.
VERY good video!!
Is it always best to do delivery confirmation in case the customer claims they did not receive the item? Since I do not have a printer I would like to just write the address on the envelope and slap some stamps on it and let the mailman take care of it but of course packages get lost all the time. What do you recommend?
DO NOT USE THE FREE PRIORITY MAIL BOXES OR PADDED ENVELOPES AS PACKING MATERIAL. That is fraud, and it is a crime. The cost of the box is built into the shipping price. These materials are to be used ONLY for Priority Mail shipping. If the Post office finds that you stuffed your package with free Priority bubble envelopes, they will charge you the shipping fee for EACH encelope, and possibly prosecute you if you are a business doing this on a regular basis.
Very helpful and easy to grasp explanation! I've been hitting my head on the brick...figuratively speaking... to figure out this shipping puzzle, and now it is clear. Thank you so much!
P.S. I made a writing error in one of my previous posts about "junk drawers" which caused my post to become nonsensical. Sorry about it!
You have to order the boxes on USPS.com and they'll send them to you free. Shipments in the non-flat rate boxes are priced by weight, generally in 1-pound increments. Flat rate is good for heavy articles, but usually by weight is a better price.
I’m having problems with shipping fees. For example, I have beads that I would like to sell. Others list beads for 99cents with free shipping. The cheapest shipping I can get from eBay is $3.50. What am I doing wrong???
What about the labels themselves? What kind of printer do you use? What kind of sticky labels? Does your account get charged when you print it? I'm afraid you left out a whole other subject! Either that or I really am completely clueless. Thanks.
You didn't mention Media Mail--I was under the impression this was cheapest for heavy items like books? I've also heard it takes longer to get there...is this why you don't use it? Also, are prices on poly and padded mailers competitive? Do you recommend a certain company or brand that has it cheaper? Thanks for the video Casey!
First i gotta say thanks for explaining this item very well. I have been selling on eBay on a low to medium level for about 3 years now and understand it pretty well but shipping has always left me with questions. I pretty much do exactly that but always thought there might be a better or cheaper way, but i guess i am good. Your video was great, and didn't leave me with any questions. .....well actually just one. How comfortable is that chair? I don't know why but, I noticed it when you got up. thing is cool, i want one. do they sell em on eBay? lol -cmagic
@VersatileMindz909 @Rockstar Flipper
Rockstar is indeed a Commercial Plus customer because he ships 300 packages per month on average over the course of 12 months running, not fiscal. He gets 17% on Priority Mail (not flat). He would get 24% if he was using eBay Labels.
Flat Rate Priority is only 2.75%. First class, on the other hand, is upwards of 12%. Both of these rates are 10% higher using eBay Labels.
Hope you don't mind me answering the question Rockstar!!!!
Ebay gives top rated sellers a shipping discount. Has been that way for awhile actually. Im not sure of the percent but that sounds a little high I thought it was more like 5-10%. usually a $7.10 padded flat cost me $6.90. so $.20 off
these companies keep raising rates so some of what you covered has prob changed. I try to recycle boxes, padded envelopes & packing material. that stretchy saran wrap type stuff that goes around pallets in big box stores etc... makes great packing materiel esp for heavy items, If its off the pallet just grab it & throw it in your shopping carts the workers will thank you lol
Somehow I feel duped. I sent a measly HP inkjet packet in a lightweight padded envelope. They charged me over $3.00 when I dropped it off at the PO. I mean, it weighed hardly.. well... nothing! I don't get it. Very annoying. I buy it for 99 cents, I sell it on Ebay for $10.00 (shipped free to buyer), and expected to only pay no more than say, $2.00. So after Ebay fees, PayPal fees and shipping, I make very little on this item.
Sturm Reiter because it was first class which ranges from $2.66-$4.76 depending on how many ounces 1-16oz. at the Usps it’s a little more expensive. Like $3.05-$4.96. The first prices are printed through eBay which gives a discount. Always print that way. But the $3 you paid is about right. Can’t ship anything less expensive first class
I want to use the first class option by weight (cause I am shipping something small and extremely lightweight), but the problem is .. will it come with tracking? Cause I don't feel comfortable shipping something without it.
I have to disagree BIG TIME on not FedEx shipping! Most of the items I ship are larger (larger than flat rate USPS boxes). But I always compare USPS and FedEx SmartPost or Ground. For anything over 2 or 3 pounds, I usually save a LOT by using FedEx SmartPost or Ground. And if it gets over 5 pounds or more, I usually end up using FedEx Ground and save anywhere from $10 to $30 or $40, but usually $15 to $20 over USPS. Again, it's usually if you're shipping small or a pound or two that USPS is the better option. And as for the free USPS Priority boxes, I get boxes free from a couple of local retailers
I dont, because its to much work and too expensive. As with ANY OTHER ITEM being shipped you get the weight, you find an appropriate box, and you compare prices between USPS priority (items over 1 pound), UPS and Fedex and select the cheapest one.
I thought so too, but I haven't tried it yet. I've sold 3 items on three different selling apps and I'm trying to figure out how to do the shipping correctly. It is difficult to understand the whole process.
When shipping with first class mail can I reuse old boxes that have manufacturers logos on them or is that not allowed via the USPS? I work for a company that has a lot of excess cardboard boxes but they all have logos on them. Can I use them?
My man this is a dope as video. I was cutting boxes practicing today for these Barbies in my inventory. I came across your video after my practice session, and I appreciate this. I respect your hustle. I just started on Ebay like 30 days ago. I sold about 15 items not a big profit, but I am just learning the game. I started my Amazon FBA, BUT I am working on getting ungated. This damn CPC is killing my hustle. I am starting to see what to sell on Amazon on what to sell on Ebay. #Determination #Private labelallday. Keep doing your thing. After wathcing this I had to sub dog.....
hi... i have a question about shipping, let's say a clear tpu phone case that weighs 1oz and the thickness is 1/2 inch.. can u mail it as envelope by weight or if you can mail it as letter using post stamps.? will it work?
I know, I thought he would talk a little about that. I ordered a few of those boxes since I started selling and I already have a few sales. I'm trying to figure out the shipping process, could those boxes be used for Priority Mail by weight?
