Do you put suffocation warnings on your poly bags? The bags you have listed off Amazon don't have the warning on them and after googling it, it seems like bags without the warning are at risk of return and you could be liable if someone sues. I'm trying to figure out which bags to order. Thanks!
RALLI ROOTS (1 month ago)
This is a pretty old video, here's our supply list https://www.amazon.com/shop/ralliroots

Super helpful for my wife and I who are just getting started. I followed along and ordered all the same USPS envelopes and boxes as I listened to the video! Thank you!
Deathproof Comics (1 month ago)
That was a really helpful video! I'm starting to sell a few more items now and I have always went in the local post office which is always really crowded and there never is anywhere to put my boxes. I just recently heard of a scheduled pick up. Could you tell me how that works? Do you have to let them know the day before how many items they are picking up? Do they pick up from your house or do you have to be a commercial business? Do you have to be there when the mailman comes by or can you leave them in a tote or something outside of your door? I apologize about all the questions I would just love not to have to go in the post office all the time. You guys have a great day!

What's the best way to ship shoes?
Cathy Ware (3 months ago)
You talked about shipping in Regional boxes but how do you figure the shipping? It's not listed on the Ebay shipping calculator.
abluee 22 (4 months ago)
what is media mail, I heard is to ship magazines, books, etc. I searched the USPS website and found nothing, how would I go about shipping books without them getting ruined
abluee 22 (4 months ago)
hey there, when you use the Regional boxes A, when you are listing your item under "shipping-services" would it be then USPS First Class Package (2 to 3 business days). Are these boxes as a replacement of me buying boxes on my own kinda? and still weight the box with the item and if its less than 160z list it as USPS First Class Package (2-3 BD)?
Miranda Ortiz (6 months ago)
Hi guys, what would be the best shipping option to mail make up less than 15 ounces? And for body lotions over 16 oz??
RALLI ROOTS (6 months ago)
first class and padded flat rate is what we'd use
Miranda Ortiz (6 months ago)
Thank you so much!!
Rodney Roeber (7 months ago)
what do you guys recommend for International shipping?
RALLI ROOTS (7 months ago)
we only use the global shipping program for international shipping.
Dwane Hubbard (7 months ago)
Does the big scale run on batteries or a charger/electeonic?
kevohh10 (7 months ago)
I know this is an old video but something else I found helpful is when someone makes an offer on an item Ebay gives you their zip code. Estimate your shipping at this point because it might make their offer worth it or not worth it.
RALLI ROOTS (7 months ago)
Very good point
hezzi (8 months ago)
Sold my first item yesterday after bingeing on your videos! $4 into $25, shipping priority :) one rubber doll.
no one (9 months ago)
Hi what type of shipping label print do you guys use
CivicHB (9 months ago)
(IMPORTANT PART) Here's a question if you find the time. If I'm a dumb dumb and list an item with priority padded flat rate envelope for the shipping method, then realize after someone bought it that it won't fit so I put it in a priority flat rate box instead, will that even matter to the buyer since it should take the same amount of time to reach them? (OPTIONAL READING) Also, in case you're curious, my ebay limit as a new seller is 5 right now. Either they changed it from 10 like I've heard so many people talk about it being, or I'm special and they think I'm gonna suck real bad :P And to be fair they wouldn't be wrong. Funny story, I used up my 5 listings within 3 days of listing them (they all sold, so thank you guys for all the knowledge and inspiration/motivation to get me started!). I knew I would be screwing up a lot at the beginning so I was prepared for that mentally, and it's a good thing I was. My VERY FIRST sale, a vintage VHS rewinder, I tried to fit it in a padded flat rate and it wouldn't fit. So I tried cutting excess bubble wrap from the end that was near the opening and I some how cut straight through the power cord xD I was beating myself up. First sale ever and I ruined it lol. Luckily the customer was very understanding when I explained to him what happened, showed pictures of it, and talked about how I'm brand new. He even gave me encouragement and told me not to be too hard on myself. 2nd funny story, I sold some ADDISON desert combat boots that I had from my time in the military and they were basically brand new, worn twice by me then put in storage. I took a best offer on them for $20 and had assumed, again, that I could ship them in a padded flat rate envelope. NOPE. Only box I had available at the time was a priority large flat rate box. The ONLY reason I made any money at all for those boots was because I happen to still be in the window for some ebay deal I accepted recently which kept me from being charged final value fees. Thanks to that, after the $17.65 shipping plus paypal fees, I made around $1.50 on those boots :P This week has been a huge learning experience! At least the other 3 items sold and shipped without any issues. I owe you guys a lot for even making it this far, so thank you! I know my comments are stupidly long, but its usually because I'm on my day off (Sunday or another random day during the week) and I'm up early getting ready to go to yard sales (what I'm doing today) or do more work on our inventory/photo studio space and I'm just full of energy and feeling great. Thanks again dudes! Off to the yard sales (wish me luck). Peace!

Preston Question!!!! If/when you offer fast and free shipping, are you doing flat rate only for those OR are you rounding shipping cost higher to cover for a possible longer range? Thank you AGAIN
Nancy Mckay-Russell (11 months ago)
Talking fast and very confusing.... for a first time seller...
RALLI ROOTS (11 months ago)
thanks for the constructive criticism. check out some of our other vids :)
MsTinaMichelle (11 months ago)
Im watching your videos regarding ebay shipping. My issue is that every time I post something (a fleece jacket under 16 oz), it doesnt give me the option to choose first class mail. It pops up all other options. It also pre selects the shipping size as well. If I choose that I dont know shipping info, then it changes and I have to key in a shipping amount. Ive actually have been including shipping in the full amount, but even then it still selects the shipping it wants to select. Not sure how to stop it from doing that. :/
Tina Stalter (11 months ago)
So are you charging all your customers shipping separately, or do you calculate the price into the product listing?
Justin Gibson (1 year ago)
on the usps priority mail flat rate boxes there is a little box marked "priority mail postage required" on the box. what does that mean? do i need a special sticker to attach right there? please help lol
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
just means you have to use USPS priority postage, you can't use that box to say ship something fedex or media mail
Aus Digital Media (1 year ago)
Guys please can you do a video on shipping internationally? I am trying to find out if your business model is doable from Australia? People on line here are saying the shipping costs are to high to flip products and ship out of the country.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
It's definitely doable from Aussie, you guys also have your own Australia only ebay and amazon you can use, we only ship international using the global shipping program. Cheers

When I run out of the air pods for packing I use up all my plastic grocery sacks from the store. They weight almost nothing and keep items stuck tight.

saga was my first scale i invested in but i dislike the flat dark lcd so i upde to a accuteck w-8250-50bs and love the angled lcd that seems brighter than saga but i still use both saga accutekk for small packages
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
nice :)

Thanks for some great advice, guys!! I'd like to add USPS media mail to your list of cheapest ways to ship. Books, for example, qualify for media mail rates, as do other recorded media like CDs, DVDs, VHS, etc. However, if they're light enough, it can become a battle between media mail vs. USPS 1st class for the cheapest rate.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
VERY GOOD POINT! media mail is great for those items yes.
Craig Thompson (1 year ago)
very good informative video...thanks for making them
VicMa ArbJa (1 year ago)
First time seeing one of your videos, liked it & subscribed. I’m curious though, what’s with Alli’s mouth? Is it piercings?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
thank you :) it's an appliance to fix her TMJ from a car accident.
Kay Radebaugh (1 year ago)
Is there a reason you don't use the USPS Priority Mail Tyvek envelopes? They seem more durable than the paper/cardboard envelopes but I'm not sure how they are priced to ship. They seem like the perfect option though when you don't need padded but want priority and not paper that will damage the contents if it gets wet or tears during shipping.
Kay Radebaugh (1 year ago)
RALLI ROOTS thanks! I'll have to check into the options. I sell a lot of plush and they don't fit into the cardboard envelopes and some don't fit into the bubble mailers but the boxes always seem to cost so much. Love the content. Straightforward and easy to follow and understand. Thanks so much for all the help.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
we usually just use the ebay branded poly mailers cause we get them for free as well :) most of the time if an item doesn't fit in a flat rate though it'll be cheaper for us to ship regional A or fedex smartpost.
Asra Q. • (1 year ago)
Thanks so much for the video. So informative and helpful for a newb like me I have a question though - you said USPS flat rate priority boxes the price varies depending on how far it's going, but if you don't know where someone who buys your item is, how do you know what to charge for shipping? 🤷🏽‍♀️ 🤦🏽‍♀️
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
we work the shipping into our price and list everything as free shipping. so if we find a comp that's $45 + $5 shipping we'll price our item at $49.99 free shipping.
Old Man Picker (1 year ago)
What I love about your videos is you don't just touch on the same basics as everybody else. You go in depth.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
yeah!!! thank you! we really do try to set ourselves apart from all the other channels :)
Edythe McKee (1 year ago)
The PADDED envelopes have not been available in western Massachusetts for months. I put in my first request last June. Nothing. So once a month I put in another request. NOTHING. So annoying. I recycle ones I receive.
Kay Radebaugh (1 year ago)
Order them online through the USPS website like Ryan showed. It's really easy and you will get what you need. They are sent from the regional warehouses which has them in stock, not from your local post office system.
Edythe McKee (1 year ago)
I did and the supervisor said she can't get any. Crazy is Right!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
that's crazy! go into your local post office and tell them to order some.
Sandra Phillips (1 year ago)
Do you put your clothing items in a zip lock baggie then put them in a poly bag or just in the poly bag neatly folded?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
we put them in a clear plastic bag and then in a blue poly mailer when they sell.
Adam Hussien (1 year ago)
Hey guys love the videos started watching them 2 weeks ago, now every chance i get i seem to be busy watching your videos instead of selling lol but I'm new to this so i have one question Taxes!! How do you file taxes, is Ebay responsible for a tax form? Thank you
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
yay! :) glad you like the vids! Now go list! lol :) taxes are tricky, we're not allowed to give tax advice but the way it works is if you make over a certain amount ebay will send you tax forms. that being said, any money coming in is technically income and you'd need to claim it, but again we are not tax professionals. you'd want to talk to a cpa
Tania Cortez (1 year ago)
Would you guys recommend a laser printer? Would that be cheaper to invest in?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
we just use a regular printer and we buy generic ink but a thermal printer is the best option.
Dana D (1 year ago)
I know you offer free shipping on your listings. Do you see what the shipping cost would be for the place furthest away (us in Florida to California, for example) and then add that in to your price?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
we more look at sold comps and price around the same price point, so if a comp is $25 + $5 shipping we'll list around $29.99 free shipping.
Anthony (1 year ago)
Great Video !
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Thank you :)
greenbeard (1 year ago)
Great video as usual! Have you guys looked into ShippingEasy? I've been using it for about 8 months and I really like it. I have 2 eBay stores and my woo commerce store set up on it. All my shipping across all three stores right there in one place. I can batch the orders any way I want too. It uploads the tracking to the different platforms too. It also gives you commercial plus pricing right out of the box, no eBay status needed. I think it also does amazon integration but I currently just use amazon shipping for my orders there, I'm pretty low volume on A. Anyway you guys might want to look into it. Thanks for all the great videos!
greenbeard (1 year ago)
RALLI ROOTS Definitely look into it, huge potential time saver for you. They have different levels of service/pricing depending on your volume. There's also a totally free account for any low volume sellers who happen to be reading this :)
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Nice! no we've never heard of it. Sounds good! :) thanks!

RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Right now we do not. Free shipping on almost everything.

I have a question? Regional A small box...I get that one. You showed wider box is it that box marked Regional A? I only know about small regional A BOX 10 inches. Can you post the measurements with larger regional A box. You both are beautiful people with fabulous personality :) Subscribed today
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Thanks so much! Yea, its the other regional A box. this one https://store.usps.com/store/browse/uspsProductDetailMultiSkuDropDown.jsp?categoryNavIds=shipping-supplies%3afree-shipping-supplies&categoryNav=false&navAction=push&navCount=0&atg.multisite.remap=false&categoryId=free-shipping-supplies&productId=P_RRB_A2

Hey Guys quick question. I was wondering I want to go on a 4 day vacation if i put my store on vacation mode would I still be dinged for late shipment? Ebay is quite strict on one day handling ( which is what i use since i am a top rated seller dont want to lose my standing) any tips would be appreciated! THANK YOU!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
So yea, that's the one thing you do have to watch out for! There is a good chance you will lose your TRS. Not for late shipping, just because to be a top rated seller you have to offer same day or 1 day shipping. The best thing would be to turn your store on vacation mode and "hide" your listings or have somebody ship them for you.
Thriftfully (1 year ago)
Does eBay email you the shipping labels to print out?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Thriftfully we purchase the shipping directly on eBay after our items sell and print directly from the website.
Holly Fisher (1 year ago)
PERFECT timing on this excellent and very helpful shipping content as was feeling my head spin😲 this week while trying to figure out all the various options~~Will be starting to list lots within next few days and this video helps SO very mucho...THX for all you both do!!! Totally ordering that scale today and some of the other supplies, plus will definitely be checking out your website for any courses🤓~:) Ebay told me to probably wait on actually opening a "Store" and simply stick with a general selling account until listing over 100 items...Is this the advice the two of you might give; is there a good reason, other than just the free coupon, to open a store now🤔???
Trixy Xchange (1 year ago)
I reuse all my boxes as well. Why create more garbage? Do you get discounted insurance when printing a USPS label through eBay? I use Endicia ($15/mo) to print all my labels since I sell of tons of different platforms. I think the shipping+tracking is the same price as eBay, but I can insure through Endicia at a very discounted rate if I need to.
Dr. StrangeFinds (1 year ago)
Haha, Ryan, I do the same thing with my Amazon boxes. Tape out the Amazon with Ebay tape. Also, for your followers, I find my boxes in the big box retail store recycle dumpsters.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
yes!!! Love that

RALLI ROOTS Thanks for Replying! I Don't know where it shipping yet, but ill keep that in mind thank You!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Nano MB depends where it's going. Probably pad it really well and ship it smartpost. If it's expensive, pay to ship it priority

Nice video, good info. Question on the fex ex shipping of the larger items (coffee pot & toasters). Do you wrap the brown paper over the box or ship as they are, in their manufacturer boxes? I'm thinking more of the boxes that are already damaged when you purchase them (new in box but box shows damage). Thank!!1
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
we ship them right in the box and list them as "new other" showing the damage to the outside of the box so there aren't any issues :)

Why do you not look for a shipping supply company in your area and pick up your supplies using will call? I used Uline for years until they moved across the border into the next state. So I shopped around and found a company that I can order from and pick up when it comes in. You really will save money in the long run if you buy this way. Buying Walmart bubble wrap, etc. is really throwing money down the drain. I do use free USPS supplies when they work with my items. I seem to sell things that usually will not fit their boxes.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
we do :) we buy in bulk. Just easy for new sellers to pick up bubble wrap at walmart.
just an older guy (1 year ago)
Good advice. Hoping you guys are doing well.

RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)

Hi. Do you guys ship CDs, DVD, games in the poly bags as well? Or do you use bubble mailers.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
We wrap them up in bubble wrap and ship them in the polys. if they're really expensive we'll put them in a small box.

New reseller here. Took your advice to try craigslist to buy in bulk. I offered $65 (they wanted $75) for 90 maxell blank vas tapes. She had an emergency and won't be back til the end of August so I will pick them up then. How did I do?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
I think so! depending on the kind of tapes, you should be able to get about $7 each.
Callum Tucker (1 year ago)
Wish we could get free postal supplies from the post office in the UK, they all like to charge £3 for a small box £1.20 for a padded envelope there is cheaper options but not the same quality.
Callum Tucker (1 year ago)
The UK seems expensive on everything Example Salvation Army Charges £5 - £10 Per Good Item they know the price of everything so roughly $7.50 - $15.00 as well but theirs always good places to find a good deal.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Callum Tucker I knowwww...sorry 😔 that's so much!! We should have started the video with *only applies to US shipping lol
RV thereyet? (1 year ago)
Such a great job explaining all of that w/o swamping peoples' brains~well done you guys! I think anyone can appreciate how well you both articulate the info and add in the do's & don'ts~very important to avoid stresses later=) We re-use every single one of our Amazon boxes as well, love those!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
RV thereyet? Thanks so much! We really try our best to get the point across without dragging it on and on 😂 recycled Amazon boxes for the win!! 😊

RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Isaiah Clark no worries 😊 yeah, using the right shipping can save you a decent amount of money!
Jill T (1 year ago)
I consider the ebay shipping discount as them just returning the fee they took from the shipping price (which is shitty to do in the 1st place). I'm curious whether most sellers give buyers the "discounted" price or the USPS price?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Jill T true. that makes sense 😊 we list everything free shipping so we don't really notice.
MrsKrikit (1 year ago)
eBay tape is awesome! It lasts so long too. I think regular clear packing tape smells weirder, lol.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
MrsKrikit haha agreed!! 😊
Aaron (1 year ago)
Something else I just recently found out from our beloved USPS is what they refer to as "Stale Dated Packages". I had been packing and printing my labels the night before and dropping them off the next day at the post office, but apparently they won't ship it unless the date on the label matches the date you ship it. Never been an issue before but I guess they are cracking down now! I have a $50.00 item that's been stuck in limbo for a week now and a customer that's probably wondering when the hell I'm gonna ship it!
Aaron (1 year ago)
Right?! I printed the label the 18th, dropped it off the 19th and went to the post office the 24th because the tracking info wasn't updating. The lady behind the counter said the dates need to match or they will send it back to my return address. Or not. Depends on what the "center" decides to do with it! P.s. Thanks for all your videos! You guys are great!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Aaron WHAT!!? That's crazy! We will definitely keep an eye out for that one. Thanks. Sorry that happened to you.
Draco Jensei (1 year ago)
Do you guys use ups?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Draco Jensei for large packages yes. We included UPS in this video..
Mallwyd Manlobbi (1 year ago)
You are so right about the scale. I have been burned so many times either by underestimating the weight or not entering the correct dimensions of the box it will ship in. Especially on USPS priority mail. GAH!!!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Blue Ladybug Obscura for sure!! Better safe than sorry right! 😊
FedEx SmartPost is a DUMB idea. It is cheaper but can take weeks for delivery. If you're selling on eBay, good luck trying to get someone who is ok to receive something weeks after the fact.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Dunluce Business also, the "home delivery" option is sometimes cheaper and usually arrives in 3 business days from our experience 😉 cheers.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Dunluce Business again, we've never had an issue but to each their own 😊sorry that happened to you! All the best.
I just had an experience with it as a buyer, hopefully my last. Seller shipped bubblewrap via SmartPost. Estimated delivery, 7 days per eBay and FedEx/USPS. Took 2 weeks... from VA to NJ. I literally could have walked the 329 miles there and back and had it before SmartPost delivered. They still haven't worked out all of the kinks. In my case, USPS picked up the package. Dropped it off at a FedEx Ground facility. They transported to NJ. 3 days in that facility it was transferred to USPS hub (not my hub, mind you) sat there for another 2 days. I've shipped items in the past and had the similar issue. Saving a few shekels vs the chance of getting an irate customer/neg fb? Doesn't calculate.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Dunluce Business okay...we use it all the time with no issues at all. Adjust and know how the shipping options work and you're g2g. Thanks for the input tho 😉 definitely disagree.
Magic0103 (1 year ago)
Great Tutorial guys! Thanks for the Info, I never thought of going through paypal for UPS. I always just take UPS to a UPS store and pay there...Wont be doing that again
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Magic0103 yeah! You'll be surprised at how much cheaper PayPal is as well 😳 the manager at the UPS store even told us they can never beat the price PayPal gives you lol.
5797029 (1 year ago)
Hi guys. Good information. Technically first class is 15.9 oz. 16oz. falls into the 1-2lb weight. If you get a clerk that goes by the book and weighs the package you could be in for some scrutiny. I have had one that measures some of my boxes randomly after I have left. The next day the manager pulls me aside and lets me know that the clerk said I measured too short and they let the package go through and they will be auditing me in the future. My packages are within the specifications required but the next day I can't prove it. I know I am in for a fun time when he puts it on the scale and takes out his tape measure. Another thing to watch out for is the size listed on any box. This is usually the inside dimentions. The USPS goes by outside dimensions so you need to add up to the next inch. Mike S.

5797029 true true. Luckily we have NEVER had that happen in literally thousands of first class packages shipped 😊 we do package pickup, we don't drop off items at the post office which may be why that happened to you. The postal workers in the store are not too helpful lol.

Great video, do you guys have a video on how to handle returns in general? Recently a buyer requested a return because he misread my listing. It was a cheap item so I refunded in full and let him keep the item (Lost in shipping + item) in exchange for good feedback. Is money always lost in returns? Thanks!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Dan we should definitely do a vid on returns. Most of the time we do what we can to just make the buyer happy for good feedback. Luckily our return rate is under 2% 😊

All agreed you are so right made alot of first class mistakes By this ozs...
Catherine Thompson (1 year ago)
Try to use first on all small stuff under a lb. I have not seen first class boxes?
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Catherine Thompson there's no first class boxes but if you find a light enough generic box to put the item in and it still weighs under 16oz you can ship it first class 😊

Appreciate the information! Question not shipping related - the round light you use - do you just use the one light? I am struggling with all the information about lights. Currently using two Ott lights but can't seem to get rid of the shadows :(
Lizzie Maggie's Finds (1 year ago)
Thank you!
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
Lizzie Maggie's Finds we use the ring light yes. Sometimes we use two box lights on the side as well but the ring light is bright enough to do the job

When you are using the USPS free shoe box's....I never see under the Ebay Shipping Options the "Priority Mail Shoe Box" so do I scroll just to the Priority Mail or Box and weigh the item put in the size dimensions ? Is this shoe box under just Priority or Priority Box or what ???? I sold some shoes unfortunately to New York yesterday was very pricey from Seattle as I used the Shoe Box Priority but purchased the postage at the Post Office as I could not figure how to purchase that postage and was over $17.00 Plus so would like to know how to print this label myself properly...Also,,,,the shoes were big and heavy and did not fit in either size Med. Flat Rate Box's which would had been cheaper. Corie
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
yes, with the shoe box or any other non flat rate priority box you have to just choose the priority shipping option and put in the weight and dimensions. YIKES! yeah, that's expensive. buy your shipping on ebay and save. I would have probably shipped those out fedex smartpost.

Yes, great content guys. Getting your shipping right makes all the difference, also if you want regional boxes I think you do have to order them through usps store.
RALLI ROOTS (1 year ago)
