Hi, Looking for some advice or input, I also sell on ebay, amazon, CL, and just starting with FB marketplace. I was wondering have you found any software that will allow for the cross platform posting / integration of ebay listings to the facebook marketplace? Looking to just push all of our active listings from our ebay store of over 4,000 listings, directly over to the facebook marketplace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the time I don't have to wait for people to come over. I offer to take it to them for $x amount depending where they live. Not only do I make profit on the item, I make profit on the delivery.

Luv you guys! ?????? Big Question. What do you do when you sell to another reseller and they want to use their tax id (not to pay il sales tax)?? L.O.S.T. Would love to know what the Roots would do. Have an ebay buyer in the same town that is an antiquer. Many thanks! Ali

Is that really just $50 to ship a heavy and large box like that? I sold a Star Wars Helmet that weighted 3 lbs, the box was a little bigger than usual, I sent it from Ohio to Florida by Priority and it was $38
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
Humberto Carro wow! That’s a lot. Try fedex

I would love to do FB Mktplace, but FB privacy and collecting data is scary. And I don't like to sell local peer to peer. I used to sell on Craigs and did very well, but then the pranksters started replying to my ads. However, I do believe that FB Mktplace is taking business away from EB. EB seems to be afraid of AMZ and always trying to compete against AMZ, but FB Mktplace is taking the business away.

Too heavy for smart post would have to go fed ex home delivery if it’s over 70 lb

Hey Ryan, good sale! And good info too. I sometimes like the shorter videos, more straightforward, and a time saver. So, no apologies needed, still great vid. Last Jan. I used OfferedUp to clear out big furniture items out of my storage unit, went great! Made $800, but yes, you are right, big items local. I think shipping that mower may have cost $100. Idea for your new warehouse, hope you have a closed off section or curtain system up front when meeting prospects that keeps all your inventory out of view. Just another layer of for if SHTF, know what I mean?

The problem I run into is when I list stuff on those local sites it takes FOREVER to move because I'm in such a rural area.
Sarah Planalp (8 months ago)
I'm so spoiled from eBay that when I had to sell furniture online I horrified by the 30+ messages saying "I'm interested but would never reply after I messaged them. Selling locally is so much work to weed through the impulse"I'm interested" comments vs I'm really a interested buyer! oh how, I appreciated my eBay after that was done!
Samantha Newby (8 months ago)
I sell around 10 items a week on my local Facebook market place in Vegas. Great to get rid of large or hard to ship items.
J3R3MY (8 months ago)
You two are hilarious. I definitely sell heavier stuff locally.
Kathy Z (8 months ago)
I think it's important to also know what sells better in your area. I see people in my area selling some clothing brands for more and faster than what I can get on ebay realistically. At one point I tried selling locally because of this however I work a full time job, a part time job and have two kids. So having meetups was not something I wanted to take on, and I don't like the idea of a stranger at my house. So I take the less on ebay. I wish I had more time because I think I would do great locally.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
very true!

Trying out flipping rugs from Goodwill. The other week I had one that i used in my house, listed it on Facebook Marketplace and had like 6 people messaging me within an hour. People are looking for rugs alllllll the time and they're so expensive to buy new. Picked up a smaller one at Goodwill last week for $9, posted it on Saturday, and selling it for $30 today. Easy-peasey
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
That's a great idea, rugs sell very well locally.
CRT (8 months ago)
Ryan what about sales tax? Do you charge the buyer or take it off as a fee from the gross you collected?

RALLI ROOTS understood

we eat the sales tax ourselves. 7% here

Hey Ryan do you know where we enter the UPC number when listing a brand new item on Ebay for the Catalog? I do not have a store.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
Should be right up at the top of the listing, if it's not add it as an item specific.

I bought a bulk lot of 1200 Vinyl Records for $250 AUD from Gumtree (Australia). Picked the good ones out and sold the "bad" ones (roughly 1000 of them) for $300 AUD on Facebook Marketplace and the good ones (200) for another $300 also on Facebook Marketplace.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
Nice!! We bought a bunch of stuff off Gumtree when we lived over there.

Market Place and other Facebook buy and sell groups have been my best selling platform over the past 5 years. eBay has been great for smaller items and lulaRoe clothing I picked up for a steal of a deal. Love the how to's they are well done, thanks for all the tutorials.
Amber Jones (8 months ago)
Ryan, do you take any precautions when selling locally? My main concern with selling locally is safety. You just never know with people...I've sold a few items where I met in a Lowe's parking lot, well-lit. It's more of an issue for female sellers, maybe. I'm sure with you, though and your "guns" and tattoos, a shady buyer might think twice lol?
Amber Jones (8 months ago)
Good to hear! <3
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
totally! our warehouse has a bunch of cameras and a security system, usually we go two people at a time and if we're not meeting at our shop we're meeting at a starbucks or some other very public location.

I attempted to sell a heavy 1962 Blaupunkt radio on eBay but decided against it after I tried to pre-package it. I marked it Local Pickup and somebody drove two hours and purchased it (officially through the app). I’m not on Facebook because I tend to get addicted.

As always, another awesome Video Ryan! As a relative newbie to this Reselling game, I really appreciate the tips and also the reminder to think outside the square as well :) Thank you!
Vicky (8 months ago)
How can you ship that for $50?? I just shipped a dutch oven 20 lbs, 15 x 14 x 8 and it was $24 just going FL to TX. Way smaller and way lighter. Fedex Home was actually cheaper than SmartPost. What's up with SmartPost being so expensive lately? I checked Pirate Ship too since everyone is talking about it but it was the exact same price as Ebay for USPS. I've never gotten a cheaper rate there. I also shipped an 11 lb box to OR which was 23 x 11 x 7 and that was $21. I think even if you shipped it next door it would've been way more than $50. ;)
Vicky (8 months ago)
I guess the rates get lower when it's much bigger and heavier. I was so surprised that smartpost was more than regular ground home for the box I had.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
haha, yeah fedex rates are going up too. depends where it's going, florida to cali for us probably would have been a bit more but on average something like that would be around $50 smartpost
TiKiMakesStuff (8 months ago)
What do you guys usually offer for bulk clothing buys?
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
depends on the items
Kristy Lee (8 months ago)
Facebook Marketplace is great for really heavy items. I recently purchased a storage unit at auction and sold all the brand new car parts & tyres through Facebook Marketplace. They all sold really quick and in most cases people showed up when they said they would but I had a couple stuff me around.

Question: How did you decide on Facebook Marketplace vs. Craigslist or Let Go or Offer Up. Or do you cross post? I have had the most sales success with Facebook but I’ve also had a lot of not showing up. Yes, I also prefer local sales for bigger, bulky or heavy items. Thanks for the helpful videos!
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
we usually cross post on all of them yes :)

Great info...we sold a few things locally...love it when it's simple boom boom bam over and everyone is happy...hate the low ballers who are sometimes worse than Ebay lowballers and the no shows really grate my nerves. What about the ones who ask a bunch of questions and you're running around researching info (our case it was a meat grinder which we know nothing about!) Got the info messaged the info and POOF.💥.they disappear never to be heard from again. Yeah patience is the key...😊

Anything large, fragile, heavy and/or valuable is great to sell on FB marketplace! People are generally friendly, you get cash-in-hand and no need to worry about returns or chargebacks. I've been selling personal items on Marketplace - managed to get great money for a Kate Spade handbag, Beats headphones, bundles of health and beauty items, and assorted furniture and home decor. I'm in the UK & was pleasantly surprised it's a busy platform here too.

I love selling on FB Marketplace and Offer up for some reason those two platforms the people always show up and are less shady...Craigslist has been a thorn in my side for as long as I have used it with game players and shifty people so I rarely list on it. Nice mower btw :)

Great video and great explanation and comparison of eBay to local selling.
WithEase (8 months ago)
Personally, I feel like things sell faster on FB Marketplace but it's more hit and miss. People like to lowball and many times they don't even show up! eBay is nice because everything comes to you but they might not move as quick. I completely agree that you should look at this holistically. Many items are good but they aren't worth shipping so they have to be sold locally. Cheers guys this was a great video!
thegibster (8 months ago)
I don't like selling local if I don't have to because of what you said but I agree, it makes more sense on large items. 90% of conversations go like this: "Is this available?" Me: "Yes, it is". End of messages. 10% of those go far enough to say they want my address before they even agree to a price. Then they never show up. It's very aggravating and depressing. The silver lining though is that when a deal does go through it has been great. I resold my kitchen cabinets (9 of them) on FB marketplace for $675 that the contractor people were just going to throw in the trash! I said "NOOOO I can resell those!" haha. I'd never be able to sell those on eBay reasonably. Now I am turning that cash into a brand new oven, to which I'll resell the one I currently have as well. I swear half my kitchen demo is paying for all new appliances. Resale for the win! :D
Annastacia Register (8 months ago)
I don't do local for because of all the flakes! My husband however both buys and sells local through his accounts and has great success.

Have you guys ever had weird...coincidences, I guess I'd call it? I bought what I thought was probably a once in a decade item for resale a few months ago (a pair of East Germany military boots) and sold them two weeks ago. (We had a move in there where I didn't list for awhile) This last Saturday, at a completely different thrift store, in a completely different town, I found...yes, another pair of East German military boots.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
shammy dammy oh wow!!!! That is a great find! X2! Yes that seems to happen all the time, I think it’s one of those things like when you buy a new car you notice all the other people who have the same car.

Also no chance of returns. SCAM BUYER ALERT: eBay User Name: aicol_21 everyone wants to block them right away. USPS shows delivered on 28th of July. Today Aug 6th they say they did not receive the package. I (and this is something I recommend you remember for your seller arsenal) contacted the sellers from the last month to see if they are having a similar issue. I contacted 5 sellers. 1 has confirmed the same issue, 1 says the package shows delivered today and has not heard from them as of yet but will keep me updated. The others have not replied as of yet. Block this buyer now so the same thing does not happen to you. I contacted eBay already and they said because the tracking shows delivered I should be covered under seller protection and any neg feedback will be removed. It is confirmed this is a SCAM BUYER. I will be posting this alert on several eBay Video Producer channels to protect all sellers from this buyer.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
Thank you for looking out! Added to our block list.

Never sell your items from your inventory spot. Choose a separate location to sell from. Showing a stranger your merchandise location is never a good idea. I used to do this until I got robbed, a customer brought helpers for an item I sold. A week later those helpers deciding to break in and steal most of my items. Nice mower btw, great brand.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
fair enough. again sorry that happened to you.
Chris Gray (8 months ago)
I had cameras and security also, three guys with masks can steal a lot in minutes. Have insurance but it doesn't cover the time I lost.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
damn, sorry that happened to you! We have camera's everywhere, a security system and insurance. It's pretty safe.

Capitalist American (8 months ago)
Personally I won't touch Face*book or other social sites. The dictators that run them have been punishing, censoring, libeling and banning patriotic American voices. Yout*ube and Go*ogle are guilty of it as well. Ama*zon won't get anymore of my business as well. Because of what Bezo's does against the American voice via WaPo. Anyone can look it up and wake up to what is really happening.
Sparkle Shine (4 months ago)
+RALLI ROOTS Oh come on now, you are just being nice. You know what you're really thinking!! LMAO :) By the way... didn't this person say Youtube is guilty of it too yet this person is on Youtube???? Great video! My Favorite deal: Part of a $25.00 storage locker... Sold on Craigslist, a StairClimber, Listed for over 600.00 new. Obviously mine was used, I also did not know much about how it operated (always learn)! I listed it for $475.00 and end of the negotiation (BECAUSE of my aforementioned not learning) it walked away for $380.00 because THEY said it had to much play in the step.. (IT DID NOT, I FIND out later, and it is an EASY fix if it is to loose) BUT, I paid $25.00 for a whole locker and sold many other things out of that. So much so, that the next two lockers were horrible and I am still way ahead of the game of buying storage units!!!

Local re-selling is definitely gaining popularity. I've been hearing about police stations and city halls starting to have a couple of parking spots reserved for internet commerce meetups. As someone who does local selling almost exclusively, this is great for me and for the buyer.

Love local deals, even though they can be a huge hassle with no shows. Here in Canada, we use Kijiji with a little bit of Facebook Marketplace. Biggest issue I have is getting lowball offers on Kijiji.

I love using Facebook Marketplace! I always meet in a public place. I have a lot better luck on people showing up compared to Let go! I've sold boot, shoes, video games, coats, lawnmower, sports equipment, lots of clothes.

Good morning! Now you guys are talking about my areas of expertise. One thing about selling locally is YOU MUST be available at the drop of a dime to meet the buyer when they are ready to buy!! You are providing a service in person one on one and not through a computer screen so you must put them as your number one priority and be ready when they are. If not they will move on to someone else OR you will give them time to think about it which is any sellers worst nightmare! Lol get em in and make the sale ASAP. But always be very professional and make them feel good about the deal. Good job Ryan.
RALLI ROOTS (8 months ago)
Thank you! :) very true!
