This is my journey in Shenzhen, China to learn how to upgrade the memory in my iPhone 6s from 16GB to 128GB. I've been hearing for several years that this was something the repair shops here in Huaqiangbei could do, and I'd even seen one do it to a friends phone, so naturally, I had to learn how to do it myself. It was harder than I thought.

the person knows coding how to copy and doing difficult things but doesn't know try swapping the cable is strange also the way ur electronic things fly in every video they way you grab electronics to fall over is kind of imitating for me. Either you are a PRO who knows all the do and don'ts, how to do things properly or you just don't know. Experimenting something this difficult for a not known I do not think noob even attempt doing it sorry.
your example of +50% profit margin is very optimistic speaking from consumer side. In general costbased pricing will add 200% to 600% based on the amount of channels it needs to go throught in order to end up at the consumer.
Ok this guy just bought a new computer, a chip reader (that talks), a soldering kit, like 25 practice boards, a few memory chips, and an ACTUAL GODDAMN MICROSCOPE with a camera attached!
I wonder if it would have been cheaper to just buy a 128GB iPhone.
I loved the jacket you're wearing here so much that I tracked it down and bought it. One of my favorite jackets of all time.
Love your channel man. Especially the 'slice-of-life' footage of you walking around to find parts and explore various markets. It'd be cool if you had a cut or two of riding the public transit there, buying a drink at a vending machine, things like that too :)
@Shubham Gedekar I don't disagree that 800% is 8x, but we're talking about additive values, not multiplicative. If you walk into a shop and your usual 500g jar of coffee has 50% extra, the jar doesn't contain 250g of coffee, it contains 750g. This is because 50% is additive, not multiplicative. My PC has 8GB of memory. If I bought 8GB more memory, I have upgraded my memory by 100%, not 200%.
Why do you think it's a one time upgrade only. There can be many such units sent by different subscribers to him for upgrade, or perhaps he might just sell the setup he purchased from where he bought for some discounted price, or he could continue with his quest to do something radical again. Finally, it's his passion and his efforts are to be appreciated not to be criticized.
damn!!! the part where you buy the whole Xiaomi laptop just to upgrade the memory to 128 gig is kinda bit lame, you see I laughed so hard knowing that you could easily buy another iPhone within that price range. well, it's cool and it was definitely worth watching your videos, got lots of stuff to know.
Keep doing the real work! :')
Ha-ha the programming jig came with a fake lightning cable... ain't that a biatch!? xD
I'm surprised that Apple's kernel doesn't check for the memory size even if you make a perfect copy of it, the read size difference should trip it up... hmmmm
By the way they usually preheat the board with infrared plate from below in order to remove the chips without damage to the pins.
Did he even check the iCloud locked boards to see if they boot up BEFORE messing with them? It's possible they were already messed up before the messing. ;D
On second thought, it might not be prudent to waste all this time, effort, and equipment just to update a friggin' iPhone 7, might as well buy one with 128G ready-made, or better yet get a real Android with a 512GB removable sdcard ;) Course I'm kidding about the effort... great job!
The cause was because of apple releasing a new update which detects if you are using original screen, if not, the logic board bricks your phone, unaccessible,(sorry for spelling), apple released a new update which unbricks your phone because their system backfired them because oem screens were also bricked.
To update to that software, iTunes
Will edit for what ios
Edit: IOS 11.3 bricks your screen, but was fixed
