This video is horse shit. I have done every trick known to man and I never rank at the top! None of this shit works either. Go look at the listing at the top and you will find often, shitty listings. No one knows how to rank at the top! I honestly am starting to think the more you pay eBay the better chance you have. I have a basic store. I am curious to know if having a higher subscription would help my rankings. I bet it does...
Was there ever a followup to this with results? Can"t seem to find one. How about a 1 year re-eval video? Have things changed? I noticed in a recent interview wit ebsy that you or someone did at ebay open that photos were key element.
I can tell you exactly what is wrong with ebay. You're doing fine with the video. Sellers can't provide neg feedback. I refuse to let ebay withdraw funds of what is owed on listings not being sold. How dare they charge for every listing and their bogus promos which are misleading. I will watch your video on what I have to do to change certain titles. When an item is won depends I will then pay my 10% and 3 to paypal. Paypal stopped payments to ebay.
I wish I knew the algorithm that eBay uses for basic stores. About once a month I will have a day where a sell 3-6 items that have been listed for over 2-3 months. It seems too coincidental that on one day people search for unique, eclectic books and manuals that have been there over 100 days. Anyone else experiencing this? Basic store, no returns, 30 day listings, around 250-280 listings, top rated seller (100% feedback). Thank you!
You’re the BEST!!! Thank you so much for sharing this important information with us! I applied the changes to 5 of my listings and pulled the current stats. I will follow them in the days to come and see how they’ve improved. I’ll come back here and let you know.
This is seriously the best eBay video I’ve ever seen. At least for a moderate to serious level ebay user, a person who is trying to grow it into a real business. I do outlet store arbitrage, and it’s tremendously important to be ranked high (typically no auctions).
I usually have 12 photo's but sometimes if I don't,... I add the last 6 of the same photo do you think Cassini recognizes the same photo's? ❤ love your videos thank you for great advice as always. you helped me grow so much, I count my blessings daily.
REAL things you can do:
1) 12 photos
2) Best keywords up front
3) Keyword stuff + precision keywords
4) Repeat keywords / manufacturer title first thing in description
5) Add multiple shipping options, free option being fast
6) Offer free returns
7) Offer 30+ day returns
where were you when you went from your active listings to a tab that said "edit listings":? Is that a page you customized? I have a basic store, does that make a difference? I also am using a Mac, -I have been looking for bulk editing and feel like a Bozo because I can't find it
Hi Casey, New viewer/subscriber. Thank for this helpful video. Short. Sweet and to the point! I think you have this figured out. As this was a couple months ago, I am wondering if there is a follow-up?
The "Free Shipping" comment is incorrect. "Fast and Free" will always rank you top of search results, but simply offering "Free Shipping" does not.
My guess is that some of your Tommy Bahama shirts have been temporarily removed from eBay Search Results due to inactivity or lack of user interest. This is in the terms of service and should be expected by every ebay seller.
hope you will be in the best of your health. This is a good video. And i just want to know does duplicate images work or not ?.
I am a freelancer on upwork doing Dropshipping for 3 years. So please let me know
I know what your talking about. It drives me crazy to see listing like that! I'm a top rated plus seller and can't understand why sometimes these listings that have no return shipping bad photos and NO item specification win some kind of Lotto Cassini search and beat out everyone else. I wonder if they just hit "Sell one like this" or the "Sell Now' Button from a great previous listing. Any thoughts on that?
I see in the comments, this didn't change my sales, that didn't work, I just did this to so many listings and no changes to my sales. Maybe it's not about one big cluster all of a sudden. Maybe it has more to do with consistency over a period of time, maybe months? I am going to take all these tips and give my store a shot at this, a six month trial. I wonder if putting in a small piece of paper with the lot number on it in the first photo hurts? It helps me, but I admit, it looks cheesy. I never liked the soda can in the pic, and I really don't like my little tag numbers either. Any thoughts anyone?
Super awesome advice. Thank you for sharing. I'm going to start selling on E-bay soon but I have to wait until I get past a couple of Summer vacation family trips. I've watched a lot of your videos to learn about E-bay before starting and they are very informative. Thank you again!
Hey Casey! Great video, awesome info. I had one thought though...normally when people are searching for clothes, they search by size also. If you do a search for your Tommy Bahama shirts by specific size, you'll probably see them much higher. I did a search for my listings, by size, and I'm on the first page for everything I checked. Just a thought. :) Great info though and I appreciate you taking the time to make the videos!
Several reasons things don't sell on EB: For a longgg time, esp. this year, there was glitches and EB has been revamping the website. If you go to downdetector.com and read the comments, you see seller after seller crying about how EB is failing them because the site is broken.
For the past week, I got two offers. And when I went to accept offer, there was no accept button. I had to call CS and they did a work around. They know it's broken.
Could they be paying to have them appear higher? Maybe using subtitle? Or maybe they are doing a 10 day buy it now listing, I have read that this gets you higher in the search? Most of my listings have 9 or more pictures I will try 12 going forward. Not sure on the shipping option, but I went and added two additional choices to all my listings so we will see. I do follow a seller on eBay and always wondered why they had so many shipping options. They always only have around 400 items and sell a lot everyday could be why. Will be waiting to see how 60 day & 12 pictures helps you out. Thanks for the great video.
So far the 60 day returns is def helping. and the photos I just started yesterday so stand by. Im reading that it takes time for the photo changes to take effect on items. People can search by higher returns so the 60 day is instant since they can filter that way, but the photos is something ebays system has to have times to index and then push listings up.
top rated plus seller and we have moved our returns to 60 days over two weeks ago and our sales have tanked. in fact we just did a search on a few of our products and after searching for our exact title our result is on the last page (page 12) behind sellers who are not top rated, price higher and their returns are at 30 says or less. different results for different sellers. there is some variable(s) at play that no one knows about.
Omg Casey, thank you. I went and adjusted all my prices just a little, and set them all to fast and free shipping. Within twenty minutes I had a sale. A good one too, I paid $30 and sold for $70. Shipping will be about $8 something, so I'm really happy with that. One more thing. I found a Zegna jacket. You wouldn't believe how fkn happy I was, it cost $8.50. Then I get home and it has two very small holes in it, moth holes i reckon. What should I do? I've looked up places to get it fixed, and they charge a lot of money, like $70 per hour. Is the Zegna worth it? Or do I just chalk it up to experience, and look at it better next time?
RockstarFlipper go to scroll through 200 listings. Doesn't stop scrolling. Go to sort by price, doesn't sort all of them in order correctly. Go to bulk edit some things click save, doesn't save all of them. I called eBay and they blamed latency issues and said everyone else's bulk editor is fine.
I took one of my items, added the full 12 photos, capitalized the brand name, added 3 shipping options, made it fast and free as I had free economy selected originally, so I changed it to priority. I am top rated plus, 100% feedback, longtime seller, etc.
Spent the past 2 days watching myself battle newbie sellers for the top spot and went from 9th in search before the changes to first today! I think it takes time for all the changes to filter through ebay.
I've been tweaking listings for the last 2 days and have watched my search page rank go up. Now hopefully the sales go up with it.
Thanks for the video. Even 16 year veteran sellers like myself learn new things everyday!
I did the experiment on one of my Tommy Bahama silk shirts.. mens 2xl free ship went up ten spots when I switched from paid to free shipping I also have 60 day returns top rated 1 day handling my average was 90 ranking free ship 110 ranking paid ship the ones on the top were as follows ..............secondary shipping I will ad next....free shipping seems to help .....I did add photos but didn't seem to matter, who knows lol
#1 guy # 2 guy #3 guy
14 day return 6 pics 14 day return 6 pics 14 day return 4 pics
free ship no free ship no free ship
6 pics no top rated no top rated
item condition filled not top rated item condition filled out
I have a theory... Ebay obviously wants to maximize sales and profit.. that's the primary goal of any business.. How can they do this? One thing is to keep their sellers happy and active..a couple months back I slowed way down on my listings and Ebay activity... what happened? A lot of my older weaker listings started selling...My theory Ebay didn't want to lose me as a seller so my listings were given additional views/ranking...
Albert Richards I have had this confirmed from eBay. I’m a seller in Australia, so I’m not sure if this is the case where you guys are, but here in aus it is true. eBay don’t want to lose you, do your older listings do rank higher for a month if you don’t list anything new for some time. And you are spot on- it’s because they don’t want to lose you as a customer.
I’m facing the problem that so many of my customers don’t bother to leave feedback- even when they have sent me a message saying thank you and that they love the product! Gggrrr
Honestly I don't think photos matter. I've literally listed items with 3 photos the first day it's up to wake up the very next morning and it's moved down to like the second page, I get 2-3 sales off of that 1 listing almost right away then, nothing. When I look at the best match who took over my spot they have less photos and they are all stock photos. No rhyme or reason.
??Casey I did what you said, I'm top rank, free shipping, 60 day handling, 2 types of shipping, 1 day handling and 12 pics. My listing was 152 out of 754 in Tommy Hilfiger dress shirt. The first guy not top rank, 14 returns, free shipping 11 pics so I don't know??
I was in the middle of doing listings when I saw this update. Note to everyone: Rockstar Flipper is the only re-seller on Youtube who has ever responded to me. Our household really appreciate what you do here too. If anyone ever needs wholesale suppliers, I can provide them for you just send me a note. Rock Star Flipper, thanks for all you do, on your side.
I did a spot check of about 10 items. I was at or near the 1st listing with 5, in the top 50 with 2 and buried in the depths with 3. The 3 that were buried were all items that are very popular like a Tommy Bahama silk shirt! I generally just use 4 pics giver or take, I'm a new account, not even a month old and my pics are flat lays, not the best or the worst. I do 60 day returns, but charge for shipping and only ship 1 way.
I did a search for Tommy Bahama mens silk shirt, with buy it now and used condition as filters. Most of the sellers near the top were not necessarily top rated (only 3 or 4 out of the the top 20 listings werefrom top rated sellers), and a few were rather new sellers with under 100 feedback. Also, hitting the search button multiple times gives some different shirts appearing near the top, while some will be the same. Slightly more than half of the shirts at the top (11 out of the first 20) did have 8 or more pics, and their titles were at or near the max number of characters.
I'm a big seller with over 10k in feedback, I have a 60 day return, I offer best offer and most of my items ship for free. So far this month I sold 33 items.. A big spike in sales.. I don't have 12 pics on every listing either, , so I don't think that has anything to do with it. I did notice though that I changed my background to a pure white on my new items. I feel a crazy odd background hurts sales, flats hurt sales, plus not having a 60 day return hurts as well. I am not a top rated seller either but I am trying. I list all day long so my items are spaced out.. I believe this helps.. Heres my store link: http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item=152574647933&_ssn=pa-picker-couple&_sop=10
Casey I'd like your thoughts on something not exactly related to this. Its generally accepted that items with free shipping get ranked higher but most do not do free shipping above 16oz due to the high cost of Priority. However there is a "new" method Retail Ground which replaced the old Parcel Post which seems to be considerably less than Priority most of the time. What about using that as a "free" option and offering Priority as well if they want it faster?
Best content in a video I have. seen in a long time. Thanks for the advice. The hardest thing is going back and adding photos. All my new lisings will have 12 photos from now on. Ill bulk. edit my 1200 lisings. a few at a time and try the advice. Thanks you are a Rock Star.
Not sure if this was mention in your comments but if the customer decides to use the expedited service and you have first class as the main shipping cost ebay will charge your FVF fees based off of the First class cost only.
Correct, Ebay charges the total price of the sale however i believe your last comment is incorrect. Let me reword what I commented above. Ebay stated in their FVF on shipping that they will charge the less expensive shipping service. So if you have $15 +$0 and added expedited shipping for $20, customer selects the expedited shipping, your FVF is base off the $15 and not the $35. Per Ebay's link: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/insertion-fee.html#fvf
Here's one for you---I was wondering if any other sellers are experiencing a problem with accepting offers made on eBay. Evidently eBay has some sort of technical problem going on (they told me this twice when I called). What happens is that when an offer is received, when I click on respond to offer, there is no way to respond other than to decline the offer. No button for counteroffer, or accept offer, and only a link to bulk decline offer. This has been going on for 3 or 4 days. Is anyone else experiencing this? It sure makes it hard to sell when you cannot accept offers!!
Great quick video; can't wait to see if it works for you. I've had those eBay consultation calls in the past and remember them telling me that the number of photos definitely counts in the search rankings. They said to have at least 3, but having the max helps as well. I'll be watching for your update video to see if I should start implementing the 12 pic strategy.
This is awesome thanks! I was just spending time reading on Cassini and SEO and apparently a good legible description (not just catalog details) and a FLOWING title (that reads close to proper grammar) can really boost views.
shipping: if you charge actual shipping same cost to all buyers and put in each of your listings the weight (being that some will weigh different) you can not use the bulk edit tool for changing the weight or adding other services
Awesome video only been doing ebay for like 3 months and now at 650 items and 4,500 sales and it was watching all these videos and now I will take more photos. I only take three and have no return policy and no second option delivery I will do it can't wait to see how it changes your sales great video! And your group is less mean to me lol
Think Then Send I feel for you. I thought paper and labels was bad. Lol. Consider digitally processing the same photos and resaving. I.e. color hue, zoom and crop, digital rotation/distortion. In your case how about multiples arranged in fun shapes, lol. That and possibly invest in a white turntable with preset 30° stops (360°/12)...
Just add to them. I wonder if I screenshot and duplicated if that would count, or be recognized as just dumb locates. In other words, if I have 6 photos for a listing, pull up 3 screenshot with my phone, twice each, cropped and then added. I have actually done this several times just to get the 12 in there. Some have sold, some have not. Let's face it, ball bearings are boring to look at, how exciting are 12 pics of those?!?
I have over 2000 items just on ebay, so im not going to pull them all out. im going to pick out about 50 of my top brands that haven't been selling like some of my Tommy Bahama shirts and Dian Von Furstenburg dress and edit those first, see if it helps
I am so glad I watched this because I was asking the other night while you were still setting up to go live. R we supposed to be offering 60 Days. Definite will do all 3 steps and then look for mine. Thanks a million! Casey As always you Rock! Hey it all makes sense.
I just looked at my most viewed listing & they all have 7 or 8 photos, but I'll try taking 12 for each from now on. Unfortunately I don't offer free shipping, nor am I a TRS, so I don't have that going for me, but its good to know how to edit listings in bulk & offer multiple shipping options. Thanks for sharing!!
