How To Stop Procrastination
What do you want to do that you keep procrastinating?
Maybe you’re even putting it off right now by watching this video. Keep it in mind, because by the end of this video - my goal is to get you doing that thing.
Because if you’re like me, you’ve found it comparatively hard to hit the gym, write a thesis, make a sales call, and most recently making these YouTube videos. And comparatively easy to playing video games, browsing reddit, and watching old episodes of Supernanny.
But if you understand why procrastination happens, you’ll realize there are three levers you can use to trick yourself and train your brain to stop procrastinating. So let’s do it.
0:26 Three psychological triggers for procrastination
0:35 Lack of clarity is the first trigger for procrastination, overcome by setting daily deadlines
1:48 Overwhelm is the second trigger for procrastination, overcome by creating Tiny Habits
2:58 Delayed gratification is the third trigger for procrastination, overcome by rewarding yourself immediately after the fact
4:14 An extra procrastination tip to make everything work better

No matter what happens, you're still you. You are where you are and everything is alright. You got to stop resisting the feeling of procrastination in order for you to move forward.
This is an important first step to feeling better about taking action.
it's too late to do anything other than go to bed today, but this REALLY helped my mindset, thanks! I've had all of these ideas to help myself before, but actually hearing them out loud really clears them up :)
Darn it! I was hoping this video would be somewhat less convincing. But now I have too much cognitive dissonance to ignore. Especially because of Charlie's psychic ability. I told myself I should write at least fifty words today. Then the video said that EXACT thing. Arrgh! Really? I did that already now. But I am procrastinating further by writing this instead of what I am supposed to write, hehe. I'm going to write another fifty...right...N...O...W...W...W...W..W...W...W...
As tiny habits for increasing strength i can recommend doing 1 Pushup before using the bathroom and If you have an pullup bar do one pullup on entering your room. Of course You can do more than one and ad the clause to stick to it in over 50% of cases to allow cheating if you would loose the Bus otherwise.
This is one of the most useful of your many terrific videos. I’ve used strategies like these in my career for decades and have recommended them to countless students. They definitely work, especially the “tiny habits” tactic. Thanks for the care and effort you put into these videos. They’re a delight to watch and packed with invaluable suggestions.
I find that your videos are so “doable” when followed as instructed. You have the incredible ability to get to the heart of your subjects with clear and concise advice. I teach Business in High School and have shared your material with my students. You do excellent work!
so i woke up at 7am says its sunday no i have to finish my math before Monday waits til almost 8pm and also i have other things i have do to ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! sometimes i wish i could just procrastinate and always get away with.
Well, I came up on this video after I did my homework for the evening. I was going to reward myself by putting my villagers on The Tribez to work while I sleep...I work 'em hard so I can get stuff while I rest, blame corporate America for that lmao...but seriously, I decided to reward myself by going to bed. I'm off work tomorrow and can finish the rest of my school work (college) in the morning and give my villagers a break tonight. They will be slaving soon enough as it is. Really enjoyed your video and looking forward to seeing more!
Like really good advice and all, but I just laughed so hard at the "Start small, with 10 pushups" because for me that would be the end goal XD Me and my chicken arms will start setting goals tho, thanks ^^
Hey, this is great. I'm in a middle of refurbishment of my house, and all of my projects are on hold so I was "involuntarily" procrastinating with excuse that I'll continue once I finish it all. I fell for the mindset of..."oh there is so much to do to continue my project, there is no possible way I could do it during this phase with contractors hijacking my house." So I was putting it off until I saw your video. It just "razor-sharply" cut through my BS story. I got up, went to my boxes and took books I needed and brought them to my "little piece of heaven" uninhabited with contractors. I also made schedule for next days with a little chunks I CAN do easily during these horribly stressful days. And that's it for tonight. It took me literally 15 minutes. I feel much more powerful, and satisfied. Even the workers do not bother me so much anymore. Thank you so much man!!!
