Mitch Hedberg was one of the greatest comedians of all time. He might not be a household name like George Carlin or Louis C.K., but he'll always be remembered for his signature style and one-of-a-kind delivery. Unfortunately, before he could truly break through and claim the fame he deserved, Hedberg died of a drug overdose in 2005. Although his time here was sadly cut short, let's take a look at the life of the amazing Mitch Hedberg...

Saint Paul and actually MN in ge real is not conservative at all. It’s one of the most liberal places in the area it’s in, surrounded by Red states but we are not. Saint Paul and Mpls especially, where I live, is very open about drug use, homosexuality, different races, music scenes and art, different types of people and lifestyles. Maybe people think it’s not because of its location in the country but Mitch would fit in here fine. He is buried in Woodbury MN is he not?
yeah and maybe if the gov't mandated heroine use he'd still be alive making us laugh... NOT ALL PPL ARE GOING TO BECOME ADDICTS EVEN IF "IT'S GOING TO BE LEGALIZED", it just puts more money into "our" system
Never knew of this guy but was recommended view and too bad to hear I cant hear new stuff ..... sad that he’s gone . Seem to be a really good guy to help others and I think he got a better feeling helping others then entertaining... RIP new friend , make them laugh somewhere else ✌🏼
One of the greatest who stalled on stage, stalled on film, stalled on tv, so overall he’s not really as great as you imagine. He may have connected with a minority but he’s not up there with the greatest.
PS when the coroner says OD it’s not for their own benefit, it’s a clinical assessment of the body they are presented with, they don’t throw all the possibilities up in the air and pick the first one that lands.
I only found out about him after he was gone, about ten years ago. Terrifically funny and while I have no idea if this is true, he always seems to have a sweetness too. We lose too many talented people to drugs, dammit.
Saw this guy a few times on cable. I think you could say he was one of the "funniest" but ascribing greatness to him would be a bit of a stretch. He just wasn't around long enough to have that kind of impact. Sad to hear of his passing, though; a life lost at that early age is always a tragedy.
My 23 yr old grandson died from a drug od a month ago. Still waiting on the toxicology report.
Such a waste. I've been clean and sober since Jun 10 87 and tried to help him by suggesting NA meetings. Not for him he said. Oh well.
He was a common sense comedian. He took every day things and made you think about it. My favorite is “gift cards are stupid.......you take cash......that’s accepted everywhere.......I don’t need to finish the joke”
Loved his material and kind heart, however i don’t mourn the deaths of people who are self destructive. I can’t stand when people say things like “they were taken from us too soon” when Mitch is the one who took himself from us too soon, not some unknown force in the universe. I both love Mitch and am upset with him. Drugs destroy your body and are incredibly dangerous and people still downplay them all the time as if it’s always just a casual good time to take drugs. Then when someone great dies from using them, we all conveniently forget the elephant in the room when we remember, bee them: they chose to do drugs and drugs did what they always do. The way i pay homage to great talents like his is permeating thoughts like the ones in this comment, hoping someone who was going to use drugs will read this and realize there is another way to enjoy a healthy life no matter what you’re struggling with. Drugs truly are not the answer. Mitch had such a kind soul, but unfortunately poor life choices can negate a lot more good we could do. Imagine how many other young comedians he would have helped if he stayed away from drugs in the first place. I hope he’s in a better place now.
I based my high school friendships on reaction to Hedberg's comedy.
Sure enough, the people that said "this is stupid" are either in prison or will be working jobs they hate until they die (or go to prison).
I know his best friend Ed "The Possum Man" Carnevale. Very few people know of the Mtv series started for Mitch Hedberg. It was a reality show. Ed still has the VHS copy of the show. It was never aired. American Hearts Radio Entertainment Network released the footage on an show interviewing Ed.
What the F? I feel like I just "jumped" on to another timeline. I have never heard of this incredible comedian before and was shocked to find out he's been gone for almost 15 years. I'm having a reverse Mandela effect moment.
Mitch"s Los Enchiladas is pretty awesome pultlocker that shit bois and God dangit when will we learn heroin is amazingly evil nothing that takes you into that much of a feel good without there being a losing side to it was there for 15 years on that losing team fuck that 100 times over hash oil moderation saved my shit( full spectrums for the win) and a pleather of suboxone, miss ya bruv
