I have never done it, but in theory... The problem Is with global shipping it might get messed up because they are looking for that label tracking number in order to forward it on.. I wouldn't risk that
Any wise ebay seller knows that GSP s a complete failure, Used it for 6 months and LOST most of my international sells. Expect that international buyers to pay 90USD for a 20USD item? come on folk: rest of the world s not dumb as u guys think)))
Global shipping is a ripoff be very careful. When you live outside of USA and the seller ships via Global you have ADDITIONAL charges. So one item I was purchasing was only $24 dollars and shipping was quoted $27 dollars. When I hit the " BUY NOW" it took me to the final screen showing me "please pay $103 " Well last time I added up 27 and 24 it came up way less than $103. They were charging additional fees for customs. BEWARE other sellers do not have this and you DO NOT HAVE to pay this absurd. In my country there is a limit of $40 dollars for any item. So what I want to say is if your item is under $40 there is NO CUSTOMS. Be careful Global charges this unnecessary addition. So beware if your country has a limit and you are buying less than that limit then do not use GLOBAL. Search for other buyers with the same product.
I had to pay 18 pounds for shipping and IMPORT CHARGES. I'm from the European Union and the product is from the United Kingdom. Therefore, there are no customs charges. No taxes to pay. Nothing.
The item is sent with Royal Mail Signed For, and I quote, "aims to deliver within 1-3 days with signature on delivery". One working day has been spent for the package sitting in the post office in the UK. In fact, it's been there for THREE DAYS now. I'm pretty sure it's pitney bowes pulling their fucking leg.
I'm never going to buy with global shipping program again.
When it come to international shipping, the shipping service I've been using is called Transbang. As a customer who often buy from ebay, what I do is leave sellers the warehouse address of Transbang, and the sellers will send my purchase to this warehouse in Portland, my parcels won't be sent to Kentucky, the following process is all Transbangs' duty. I just check my latest tracking number that Transbang gives me after they deliver my parcel, and, again, all I have to do is wait for my parcels to arrive at my door-->http://bit.ly/2LMCwz2
The only thing I found to be a pain to figure out was how to get the global shipping box to show up. You have to agree to eBay
agreements to use the Global shipping. Found this out by looking through all the info on eBay and finely got it to show up.
heres the problem i got with this.......i used to check this box and it ALWAYS in EVERY circumstance caused the buyer to send me a request for invoice because ebay doesnt tell them how much shipping is when they buy it. they buy it then have to ask me how much to pay me. then i have to go and figure out the shipping costs and send them an invoice which always makes them mad because of the high charges they didnt know about before buying it. yes, ive clicked the calculated for location or whatever it says there, ebay still will not tell the buyer how much the shipping is on their global program thingy. i stopped all international shipping because of the headache.....
I'll tell you about the Global Shipping Program. Firstly, I am a 100% feedback bayer since 2002. I love buying items from the states. I love collecting action figures and comics. GSP has basically killed my love of shopping internationally on eBay and heres why:
- They take your carefully wrapped parcel, unwrap it and repackage it, usually worse than it came out
- The shipping takes a while and at times is untraceable
But the worst for me is the fees. For a UK buyer buying anything from the states - you can just forget it. Firstly a hiked up shipping fee that goes to the GSP centre. Then a crazy, hiked up customs charge.
Firstly - we do on occasion get customs charge but only on certain items over a certain threshold and certainly a lot cheaper then bays/pitneys! Sometimes a comic costs more to ship - then they ad customs on it - for a flat pack comic! Ive been after a particular figure set and the prices in the US are reasonable, but then eBay flops on maybe half the price of the item to ship.
Its a system that hasn't been well thought through, benefits the coffers of eBay, makes it difficult for international sales and also hides the charges that are displayed for the seller.
Anthony Dry I'm from the U.K and I have never bought anything on eBay from the U.S or any other country for that matter. As soon as I knew about the Global Shipping Program I was like, "hell yeah, I don't need to worry about paying customs at a later stage". Is it really that bad? Coming from a new comer, I feel as though I should give it a shot.
Hi Casey, this is tootallman 741 in Deltona, Florida. Global Shipping does not show up in the drop down menu in the shipping section like it does on yours. Where is it ?...I recently sold a shirt to a customer in Alberta Canada, for $14.50.....after the label loaded, it said the shipping to that location was $14.85.....Paypal deducted that amount before I could print the label....then, had to get ebay customer service to email the label to me because it would not load or print. Seems like a rip off system to me....makes me want to skip international shipping altogether..
I got scamed by this program. Never buy from buyers that use this programe. I checked my Paypal acount and I noticed extra fees on all my transactions. Amounts that no one told me. You loose BIG MONEY. NEVER USE IT.
Hello, I am newbie and I was wondering ...if I'm shipping with global shipping option - do you recommend free shipping ? I do not have free shipping on most of my listings ( all are domestic) if I change and offer global shipping on my items .. should i change to free shipping ? does it matter ? will the customer have to pay twice? once to get it to Kentucky and again to get it to their country? hope that made sense lol. thanks for your help. :-)
I am confused. In my case, I have enabled the global shipping program, but when i try to buy from another account, to another country's address, it says that the buyer does not ship to that address, how does this work? Thanks for the video
I guess if you are selling socks or shirts, it's not an issue but for fragile things like watches or electronics, for Pitney Bowes to open every package to inspect then remove packing material in order to lighten weight, then over charge for duties and taxes in another country is just pathetic.
Just search GSP to see all the negative vids. Not just me!
Yes, really wonderful for lazy sellers, but how about your customers. Huge cost, bad handling and packaging, and donkey slow. Just another revenue generator for EBay and Pitney Bowes. As an international buyer, no thanks.
I know you said that we don't have to enter the weight and dimensions of the package when creating the listing but how will ebay know what to charge the international buyer at checkout? I just didn't want to have to eat up any fees if the package was heavier than what they charged the buyer for Thank you so much!! I love all your videos!!
Is there anything special you have to do when it sells, i mean how does ebay know when they receive my order I send to Ky that its for an international sale is there a special label I have to print or special tracking they need???
NO. you print the label and ship it. It goes to their GSP warehouse in Kentucky and they handle the rest. Im sure its by tracking number once it arrives. Print label, Ship item. Print label, Ship item.
Global shipping program is huge scam on us the buyer because it let's pay double some time triple the amount for custom and clearance and some time even if the item don't have tax they will charge you! Unfortunately I switched to Amazon because of there better international rates to shipping to Kuwait... Ebay was the best after that global shipping program scam it lost too much customer and you can type in Google global shipping program scam and see by yourself how frustrating it is for people
Well dang lol. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't even bother to look bcuz I just assumed it would be a bit difficult to learn international shipping as someone starting out. I didn't realize it's THIS easy. That's what I get for assuming lol. TY
Q. If you use the Global Shipping program, are you alerted by them when to send them a shipping label? Why not just provide them a shipping label when you send the item to Kentucky? Wouldn't this speed up shipping time tot he customer?
When you use GSP, its just like any other transaction. The item shows paid, you click print label and the label is addressed to ebays warehouse in Kentucky. You print the label, slap it on the item and mail it out. Thats it.. your done. Ebay handles the rest. Once it shows delivered to ebays warehouse your covered
Its very easy... you ship to Kentucky....DONE.. Nothing else... no more. Pretend like the customer lives in Kentucky. Once it shows delivered your part is over. No more cost, no more time just DONE. Ebay handles the rest between them and the customer overseas as far as cost and time.
What I don't understand is what will this cost? If you're shipping first to KY... then Ebay ships it out to say.. Japan, when will you know your final shipping cost? Also, how do you know when it ships from Ebay and how much longer does this process take to clear through Ebay's warehouse?
hi Casey I guess I'm in trouble... I have an Auction that will end in 8 hours with free shipping and no international shipping... this morning I received a message from someone in Canada that he is interest in this item, and he asked me if I will send him to Canada... I know about the eBay global shipping and I told him let me do some research because I'm a New Seller and will ship it to you... he sent me a message back that he was so happy and asked me if I let him bid because he doesn't want somebody else bid on it... I said yes, no problem... and when try to make the changes in the shipping area, the system don't let me do it...what can I do??? thank you Casey for helping us all the time...thanks
RockstarFlipper thank you so much Casey... I called EBay and they told let win the auction, then cancel the transaction and list again the item with global shipping... thank you Casey for always being so nice...GOD bless you and your family 😊
I am trying to set this option up on my listing, but there is no option for Global Shipping Program when I set up a listing. What am I doing wrong? The only international options available on my create listing page are calculated or flat, no setting or chekc box for global shipping program
Is there a final value fee difference between listing free shipping or charging the buyer for shipping? I had read that there was, but it seems to be the same because it charges you a final value fee for shipping also, so it seems there is no difference, you make the same amount of profit, is this true? Thanks.
You can approve the return but it wont give them a label. Its kind of a bad system. I had a guy want to return but he never did because of the cost. usually if they press it, its best to just refund unless its an expensive item
RockstarFlipper can you walk us through a complete sell!? Like from posting the item/seeing it has sold/making the label/ boxing said item/ shipping the item! I would love this video Casey! I'm a super freshie! Just started this EBay thing! I don't want to do construction anymore! I'm miserable...
Thanks for the video - I've seen the question asked but not answered regarding who pays for the shipping to Kentucky. Do I as the seller? Or does eBay cover the additional cost in the international shipping? I'd love to try GSP but need these questions answered before moving forward.
We as the seller, have to pay the cost of shipping it to KY, right? How do you account for that cost to make sure you don't take a loss? Because you won't know if it sells as a GSP or Domestic item, right? Or does the buyer double pay for shipping, as in buyer pays us to account for the shipping cost to KY, and the cost from KY to their country?
Casey just wanted to say (and I'm the drummers mom Sue I'm too lazy to go on my YouTube) anyway I'm a longtime seller but def can use some review of certain basics tht I never bothered with. Your vids are concise, accurate and to the point and most importantly Easy to understand I will def pass these on to my beginner friends! Keep doing what you do as you are a Rockstar! Ps find us some big drum scores and I will really love u hahaha!!
Thanks for sharing Casey. I always make sure that box is unchecked as I'm very intimidated about shipping internationally since I have no idea about the cost based on location etc. I just thought it would be confusing. Now that you've explained the GSP I'll go try it :) :)
Thank You, Casey for, start making this videos. We really appreciate you effort to help us. I haven´t start yet listing because I am working and retired at the month so I have being washing you, prof sales and others because I want to make things right. Thank You again to be thinking in us the beginner´s.
I just did this. Go to My eBay > Account > Site Preferences, or Seller Hub > Overview > Shortcuts > Site Preferences. You'll see a thing about GSP with edit button to the right. Click on it and enroll, it will add it to all your active listings
Thanks dude. Loving the videos. QUESTION: Have you done a video on Taxes at the end of the year yet???? A walk through of that process would be nice, what you need, what the process is with the eBay pay pal aspect, etc. since you've been through it. That would be great. Unless you've already done so, just wanting to avoid any unknowns when it's already too late. Thanks !
yes you can ship worldwide, no problem, just remember to charge enough (so you don't have to pay extra, check on the canada post site) and you should be fine. package, weigh, measure, and do calculated if selling on .ca and if doing on .com find the furthest zip code from you. with a higher priced item use tracked package so that you can make sure you are covered with insurance and tracking. Good luck.
Totally random :Are you a lotr online player? It's been awhile since I've played. Love that game.
I have only ever had one international sale and it was with global shipping. If you chose not to use it for any reason can you do a video explaining what is involved with that?
Maybe I am just missing it in the eBay explanation - what shipping method does one use to ship it to the Kentucky warehouse? I don't usually do free shipping - does the international buyer pay for the shipping to KY as well as from KY to their country?
Angela Roe There is an app I use to search local garage sales in your area and the info is pulled off of Craigslist I believe. My app is is literally called Yard Sale. I am sure there are a few app choices. I hope that helps.
I am really, really not new, but the global shipping thing is only a few years old. So thanks. I've used it only once, and need to get back to including it. I watched this simply as a refresher. Thanks a lot - everyone should check these out, regardless of our ebay "age." Very helpful.
Julia Brewer it takes time, most importantly you need to build positive feedback, try to find smalls and sell as many as you can don't think about the money at this time, all you should be thinking of is selling it cheap and shipping it fast..you can even try buying a few items to gain positive feedback..
Question: I offer free shipping.. so when I do GSP, does the customer know they have to pay shipping from the Kentucky warehouse to their location overseas? I worried that they would be mad thinking they get free shipping , then end up paying.
GSP sends them the information what always baffles me is the AMOUNT they will pay to have something shipped out. We can't see the country they are from but I have seen some of my GSP items go for upwards of $75.00 shipping alone. There is alot of $ out there world-wide outside the USA so go get it! Also using GSP will put you on the international eBay pages (as well as just the USA). Major benefit.
I buy from e-bay internationally all the time. It can be misleading, because it does say free shipping until you click on details. I have had some bad surprises before, because global shipping is way more expensive than international shipping costs. I don't care about a few bucks that a seller charges for packaging. It is for this reason that I usually buy from sellers who ship direct. If you use global shipping and a buyer has sticker shock, because they didn't click to read the details I would be in your best interest for your feedback to let them out of the deal if they have sticker shock. For you to see for yourself, because you should always think like a buyer in this process, go onto ebay.uk.co and search to buy something. See how it looks to you.
