It's funny how I started a couple months ago and NOW see the huge importance and advantages of having an eBay store. You answered a few questions for me and I feel the most important take away's I got from this is
1. Free listings
2. Discounts (10%, 15%...etc) Like you said, this huge to help pull in a potential buyer
3. Better search rankings. As a webmaster/SEO geek, this stands out for me and easily makes my top 3 take away's.
Thanks again for the tips Casey, you never fail to deliver. :]
Hello! Just started listing on eBay last week (been on Poshmark since summer). Signing up for my eBay store today so I was watching this to be diligent. I’d love to see an updated video on this fabulous topic!
Thanks for the great information!
RockstarFlipper thank you for the fast reply. Launched my store yesterday and having lots of fun with it. I was just watching some of your videos about running sales. As always, thank you for the great insight and inspiration 🙃
f you have more than one eBay store, we have the IDEAL solution for you.

the beginning of your video is wrong. you get 100 free listings a month and after that is .35c pr listing. most of the times you receive promotions that may give you 100 free extra listing pr month. So, if you are a beginner and are not planning on selling more that 100 items pr month, buying a store is not worth it.
Hi there, I have asked this question before but nobody has answered me :( the question is: would you get offers on shipping too? I mean do you get help with cost of your shipping? shipping is so expensive
I'm totally lost on this one, as my limits are 1,000 listings a month and $25,000 a month in sales. That's my limits. If I get a store, I start over and lower my own limits ? That's a huge NO from me !
Something that would be really great... if Ebay did shipping fulfillment. I know they do something like this for international shipping. But something for domestic shipping would be great, kind of like Amazon where you send off your stock, and they handle all the packaging and shipping to individual buyers.
As someone who went to school for sound engineering, get rid of the omnidirectional mic. Get a unidirectional mic. It also wouldnt be a bad idea to hang a blanket or something similar on the wall your voice projects to. You have soundwaves bouncing around your room. Also some throw rugs if you have wood or hard tile floors. But overall the sound you were getting was decent.
+RockstarFlipper - I noticed in your screenshot, free eBay branded shipping supplies. What's that about?
Could that be Reason #11? or is that not really an important benefit?
Also, did you ever jump up to the Anchor Store level?
Just opened a store. and now if I list an item with a Buy It Now price with a Action Style they charge 5 Cents to list it.
I thought I get 100 free listings , Action Style and Buy It Now.
Not the case.
Any other store owners on Ebay have this 5 Cent charge?
Thanks Rockstar, this definitely helped give me that final push to open a basic store, newbie but I do have a lil over 250 listings, some which I have paid the dreaded .30¢ for (grrrrrr), so I think this alone will make the subscription worth it. Looking forward to going full throttle in 2018
Hi I am a small seller and was doing good for sales this month ,I made two sales Friday and nothing this weekend or today , not sure if I should wait for a store ,I just don't want to spend more then I make
Thanks for your video!
I heard that sometimes eBay can ban a selling account - what will happen with one year subscription to eBay store if eBay account will be banned by eBay before one year subscription will end?
Geez, why don't you just say "Hey guys, I'm putting in zero fucking effort so please just give me all your secrets so I can fucking steal them and complain to you when they don't work." Fuck off you lazy fucking troll!!
hmmm I never list over 50 items per month, I would would be subbing just to save on final value fees, I did some rough math if I sell at least $500 per month I will save $5 in FVF if the FVF is 4% (likely it will be more for many/most items) so that would mean I need to sell more than $500 per month to make up cost.... some months I do, some I don't.... I have just listed a $1000 item idk when it will sell though... argh haha I am still not sure to sub or not...
I am a new reseller started last month. I decided to try Ebay and only sold 1 item. I am only allowed to list 10. I would like to open a store but i probably should wait until i make more sales right? I would like to have a store just because you can make it more personable like a banner and such.
I think eBay misleads people when signing up for a basic store says we get 250 free listings I have 100 items up only sold 2 and when I went to list more it says I reached my limit could you explain this?
Not sure if opening a store is a good idea for me paying subscription and not being able to list over 100..thanks
Hi there, really appreciate what you do, good infos and advices.
I have a question, i'm a new seller just opened my eBay account this month August 2017, i listed my first item and surprise, i can only list 5 items or the equal of about 200$, i think it's very low. And the stupid thing, is on my only item i put a number of 5 as quantity, so i reached my limit for this month with only 1 item, crazyyyyyy. I think i can edit it, but i prefer a less restrictive solution.
Ok i don't really blame eBay for that i just want to find a way to list at least 300 products and i want to do this business seriously, so i've considered opening an eBay store and probably selling as a business, my Paypal is a business one.
My question (sorry for being so long, just want to make my situation clear, lol) is if i open a store will i be able to list at least 200 items?
And what is the benefit to have a business account?
Have you ever use a tool like Push Auction? It offer you tools to design your shop more efficiently, i'm a graphic and web designer, it's why i'm pretty interested by this tool.
Thanks and have a good continuation...
Great video Casey! For years I just dabbled, (maybe 10-20 items per week.) My husband is almost 20 years older than me, and because we wanted a baby and I had health problems, etc. he didn't want me to have to work. I have now gotten to the point where I would seriously like to take down if I have to and return later or the next to continue. some of that weight off my husband's back in paying our very high bills, and still be able to take a break, lay down if I have to, etc. and still be able to manage this. I know what I'm doing, so I'm heading in within a couple of months to go full steam ahead! We just moved in June, so as soon as I have this new place set up reasonably nicely for my family, my office will go into full swing. We got a 3 bdrm. when we only needed a 2 bdrm., so that can be my office. Knowing that I was definitely moving in this direction, about 6 or 7 months ago I started buying my photography studio items(very lucky call that I decided on a soft faux brick white background to stand my mannequins in front of, and then found out that eBay is preferring the white, and if I get into Poshmark also, they prefer the 1-inch white squares for listing. Then for smaller things I bought the photo cube about a week before I saw that Steve at "Raiken" did the same thing. Anyway, I started researching and buying the things I wanted such as a scale, all my office supplies, back up paper and ink, poly mailers, free USPS stuff for flat rate things, tape, everything you can want or need! ;-) I also am out sourcing at every opportunity. I've watched literally several hundred videos, if not thousands, to get as much info from so many of the people I respect and listen to, including yourself Casey! I have accumulated tons of quality inventory because 1. I want to get started big and not be running out, and 2. I live about 45 min. north of Boston, and I really don't like to go out in the snowy, icy, freezing, bad weather. I'm not a great driver and don't like to drive, so I want to get as much as possible done now. I must have about 20 stuffed bins by now, and I'm still working on them. I do mostly clothes, and most of those are jeans in specialty sizes or have nice embellishments, bling, unique designs, etc. I know most of my designers, but double check almost everything in the store against sold listings, etc. I also am getting into board games and sets of pieces to certain games. I'll sell housewares, retail arbitrage using couponing, thrift stores, garage sales, Savers, Salvation Army-pretty much everything everywhere that I think will sell. The lighter the better. So, in a couple of months, I should be ready to launch right into a basic store. Please wish me luck-I wanna make this big and contribute significantly to paying the bills around here to take some of the stress off of my husband. When we got married he didn't want me to ever have to work again and assured me that he will handle it all one way or another. Well, that was when we got married in 2000. I've now been able to convince him that I can handle this and it will be ok. He's been working approx 14 hours a day of hard physical labor since he was 14 years old. He's 40 now, and I'm 59. Our transmission went in our old van last month, (one month after we moved and had to pay 1st, last, and security of $1850 each, and $1850 per month rent. So when we were absolutely strapped, we had to buy a vehicle which means a few years of payments because we had no savings, a big jump in auto insurance, and our son needs braces, and we both need some very expensive dental work that we've been procrastinating about. If you know anything about the dental health world, that's never a good idea, but we had no choice. So I'm about ready to take off with this Casey. Sorry for the lengthy post, but please wish me luck-I'm gonna need it! Lauren
"Should I wait to get the store until I start making more sales?"
That's the impression I've gotten from some other videos I've watched. I don't think a store is the best for beginners. Once people gain more experience and are able to start doing well with sales then get a store. You want to be able to earn enough to easily cover the store fee.
Hey it's me again. Thanks for your answer earlier and for this video. I am going to get a store soon. The other thing I am wondering is how people will ever find your store in the beginning when it's new? Like say someone is searching for a men's dress shirt and I have some will they just see my shirts in a list like normal or get sent to my store? I hope that makes sense.
I'm glad I listened to this. I've been wondering if there is an advantage to having a store. Right now my goal is to get 100 items up. I think for a few dollars more, an ebay store would be the way to go. Having 250 free listings gives me more incentive to list more and make more! Thanks Casey!
RockstarFlipper They only gave me 50 free listings a month and I have been selling since 2006, but just started selling hardcore 2.5 years ago. And I am a top rated seller with top notch feedback. Wonder why they never gave me 100 a month? They would send me offers from time to time for 100 or 200 additional listings, but not every month. I just started a store because I outgrew a regular account a long time ago.
Thank you for your video. I just started listing stuff on Ebay and I haven't sold anything. Trying not to be discouraged. Even though I haven't sold anything, I'm going to sign up for the basic store and have faith that I would grow and the store will pay for itself. Thank you
Pamela Belonwu-Ifedi Thanks for the reply. I lost about 30 to 40 items a month wondered if its time to get a store. July was my best month I hit my sales goal a very low number with even lower profit but I did it and missed my total transaction goal by one sale. I've increased my goal for Aug but have sold ANYTHING yet. I'm going to try a store later in the month and see if it helps. Good luck and too many future sales to you.
naturegirl2110 Well I've been getting little sales and I don't know if it's because I have a store. But I believe getting a store was the best decision ever. Also keep in mind that it's summer slowdown and sales are quite low for most of us..
Hi, so I only have 38 items for sale on ebay I have a lot more on Amazon.
I don't pay any per listing fees to ebay, only 10% when the item sells plus paypal fees. I don't know at this point if paying the $20 a month for a whole year would really save me any money since the 1% savings in fees will not offset the monthly fees.
What is your opinion please ?
Yeah if your not going over the free 50 listings then no you dont need a store yet.....although it could help in other ways. I would say if you get serious then you will need a store once you list over 50
My 68 year old husband and I (58 years young) just started a store. I sold a few things MANY years ago but decided to try and really go for it. Went to our first bin store and it blew us away. So much good stuff!! All name brand CHEAP. We got 87 items for $103. I branded my store and it's pretty cute. Will continue to work until it gets going. We are long haul team truckers all over North America and we will now try to hit Goodwill Outlets as we go. Can I put a link to my storefront so you can check it out and give an opinion?
A store is not for me. If I was selling in bulk (stamps, games) it would be worth it. But this last payment to EB was something like $4.50. I had no insertion fees because I limited it to 30c.
A store is great for a "business" that has tons of items to sell and / or they specialize in a certain product that jumps off the shelf.
