Please watch: "Finding Treasure At The Thrift Store To Resell Online!"
If only I could find products to get close to those numbers. I tend to find people’s collections. They sell but slowly. I just paid $150 for 200 hallmark ornaments in boxes. I couldn’t turn it down but I know it’s a long term play. Where’s the short term at lol.
Full time for 2 years, I found a niche and its working well. I work a quarter the time and make double the money compared to my full time government job. Its easy to get slack and take days off when you are working for yourself, you guys are partners and have a worker so there is more to keep you motivated. I do think cloths is good to get your foot in the door but I despised selling them and am glad I found my niche and average sale price is 130$ and ROI is 75% area. I do wish I could get more into wholesale items on a 2nd account though now that I have the income to purchase big lots.
I am apparently doing something wrong cause I rarely sell anything...I've heard "Describe everything, the more info the better!" & "Just tell the basics & lots of pics!" I've heard "You can price your mdse. too low and buyers think something's wrong with it!" & "Don't be greedy, don't ask too much!"
"Have your ads end on Sunday evening!" 'Have ads ending every night!'....none of it does me much good.

INCOMING WALL OF TEXT!!!!
So I've been binge watching all your videos lately (in no particular order) and I had recently made a comment on a video where Ryan said you guys were "lucky and blessed" and my comment was basically that even though you say lucky and blessed, I say hardworking and genius. I definitely meant what I said, but holy crap I stumbled across your video where you talk about yourselves and your personal lives, how you met, what you did before this, etc... Calling you guys hardworking and genius is an understatement... just wow. So thank you for all that you do, giving back to everyone and helping motivate people to take their lives into their own hands. The knowledge that you have and share is, IMO atleast, FAR more valuable than anything you could sell, but it's also probably the nicest thing you could possibly do in your situation, so thank you. My wife and I are just getting into online reselling and she is killing it on Facebook with swap and sale and market place. She does tons of leg work to meet with people in our area and make deals. She makes crazy deals. She had some shoes I was listing for $24 on ebay, which was still on the higher end, and she sold them to someone in our city for $40!! I couldn't believe it, almost double what I could list for on ebay AAAAND no fees.. its just crazy to me. I have a question for you guys, but only if you have a little free time and are bored, and I just want your opinion here. I'm the one leading the ebay effort in our husband and wife team, however, I work a full time job, between 45-55 hours per week. I'm a Letter Carrier for the USPS, so yes, a Mailman. With that, I walk 10-15 miles per day just for work because my delivery route is mostly walking. That just means I wear a satchel and carry 3-5 city blocks worth of peoples mail and packages with me at a time and walk to every house to deliver the mail to their door. On top of that, I live in Texas, so you guys of all people know it gets HOT. It's already been getting in the mid and even upper 90s several times this month. As you can imagine, by the end of my work day I am EXHAUSTED and usually somewhat dehydrated because I sweat a LOT from walking around in the sun all day carrying 20-40 pounds of mail/packages at a time (don't worry I literally drink nothing but water). So, knowing all of this, what (I think the word I'm looking for is ADVICE) can you tell me that will help me keep up the grind? I think about ebay any time when my mind is free to do so and I always hype myself up while I'm at work to get home and do ebay stuff. However, when I finally get home, I usually spend anywhere from 1 to sometimes 3 hours in a combination of naps and youtube videos (like yours) trying to recover from my day. My day's off from work (every Sunday and one rotating day each week) are great because I can really get work done, but it's those work days that slow me down and I'm not exactly sure if I'm just being weak in self discipline or if I should really just do most of my ebay work on my days off. Anyway, if you made it this far then you are insanely dedicated and I really appreciate you taking time out of your lives to read this ridiculous wall of text. Any feedback you may have would be very much appreciated! Oh and a couple quick things before I stop typing. 1) I'm trying to spend AS LITTLE of my day job money at this point as possible getting stuff going. We already have a lot of things that I can list (mostly clothes/shoes/purses) thanks to my wife, but as far as equipment for lighting and taking photos, I am actually going to build a DIY softbox design I found on youtube today and I'm using a very crappy camera in the mean time, but it gets the job done for now. I already have some 6x9 and 10x13 poly mailers and have a lot of priority mail shipping supplies coming (some have arrived already) for free of course. I think I have everything I would need to list, package, and ship items, BUT, since I'm new to all of this, I wonder if there are any little tips or items you can tell me about that could help out even further. And the last thing before I quit this novel - 2) Are you excited for the Dragon Ball Super movie coming out in December?? My daughter and I (she's 12 I'm 32) both watch anime and although she likes Dragon Ball, I LOVE IT! It's been my favorite anime since I was 13 in 8th grade hahah so I've watched every episode of Super, although I watch the Japanese version with english subtitles and not the english dub, sorry xD. Just wanted to ask you that since that's one thing we have in common with you guys.
Ok I think what I was waiting on in the background to finish is finally done so I can quit typing and get to work :P Again sorry for the mini novel of a youtube comment and the selfish questions and thank you for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us! CYA!
Great video as always. Would LOVE to be able to tell my husband to quit his job and work with me. He loves doing this but we still need health insurance for our kids. Anyone have any advice for the health insurance situation to be able to do that!
Thanks guys ! I would also a good way to into full time resell without having a lot of extra inventory cash is build up your store on the side while you work your normal job, once it’s built up enough and you have some cash saved up than can be good time to go full time. That’s how I did it and it worked out! 3 years into it and just my wife doing it part time and me full time we currently get around $115,000.00 in sales per year but I have a feeling that number is going to grow even higher :)
If this Ebay thing doesn't work out for you, you can go Hollywood and make movies. LOL Your Videos and editing and are ON POINT!!! Plus you both have movie star good looks! More importantly every video you make has excellent information and are entertaining. Thank YOU!
Have a headache. I was a single parent, no child support, worked FT $1,000 month gross, and went to school FT (no loans) and had two teenagers in high school. I've never made anything close to these numbers. We made the most of what we had and had fun. Kids are grown and doing their own thing.
Doing my best with eBay now, growing, and learning more as I go. I can stretch a dollar!
How would you account for Cost Of Goods if you are either selling your own stuff or you are moving up from hobby selling and may have various inventory items from yard sales etc without receipts? (Hobby to business would be a great video.) Great info as always.
Thanks for making the video. Now that you covered that piece, maybe do a video as a follow up talking about sell through rate and how much inventory based off sell through rate you need to take home those $1135 per week. Thoughts?
Great motivational video. The thing I would like to add is you need to spend the money to make the money. We try to make at least 3x or more over our cost of goods. Heres and example. Assuming weeky sales are $3000, we need to sink $1000 into similar new purchases just to tread water. This can also be an opportunity to up your game by acquiring higher profit items or increasing your inventory to do more in sales. We are only a two person operation so sometimes we need to dial it back a little just to catch our breath. Find the right business model and don't be afraid of success. Mike
Thanks for answering this becasue the people who pay for your course should only get this information. You guys are way awesome awesome!!!! And to the three people that gave this a 👎🏾 this is for you🖕🏾 excuse me kids but some of you are SOOOOO UNGRATEFUL these people give free information and your still not satisfying 🤦🏽🤦🏽
Ryan needs to be a motivational speaker. 😂. I just went full time reselling on eBay and poshmark. Was able to quit my call center job. Now I've started making some money on my Shopify store. So far so good.
Yep I had been reselling for 4 yrs part time and thought I was ready the answer was NO.
I think unless you have access to certain items that you can flip fast and get steady you will be struggling to live. Finding items to resell is only as good as they are available .
When you say 50% net revenue after expenses. Is that even after purchasing supplies, labor cost, warehouse rental and everything? Or just your cost of goods? And do you count the sales potential of inventory as part of your working capital? Thanks for the info. I really appreciate everything ya'll are doing with your channel. Always good knowledge.
Yes $60k for a team of 2 is very doable. Good video but your numbers left out one important thing. Taxes. The $60k after a year is closer to $40k after taxes assuming you are paying 20 to 30% tax. (Yes i realize you are lucky and dont pay income tax in FL). My accountant tells me an amount monthly to set aside in a business savings fund based on my sales quarterly. I highly suggest this. That way you are not tempted to spend your money meant for taxes. I now pay taxes quarterly as my CPA said it would be in by best interest. CPAs are wizards. Good wizards, but still wizards. Id be lost without mine.
Birdknowsbest we have a CPA & we didn’t forget about taxes..the median income in the US is 59k BEFORE taxes. Everyone pays taxes, that’s common knowledge. We know tons of one person resellers doing far more than 60k a year. Our business does six figures NET with a team of 3.
omgosh i just noticed someone gave you a thumbs down. To Mr. Thumbsdown: I can tell you I don't have money.... But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you remove your thumbs down I will not look for you, I will not pursue you... but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you... and I will break your thumb. ;)
That's A LOT of numbers.... Just tell me when imma be rich lololol :-) Love you guys! And not sure if you know this, but you guys match in the vid (alli's hair, ryans shirt) - and alli looks like a beautiful rainbow unicorn with her hair and shirt. Wish i could give you guys TWO thumbs up lolol :)
London Michel We think so!!! 😄
I asked because one of the convenience/liquor stores here used to advertise their 2buck chuck, so thought you might have picked up the phrase from them! 😉
Come visit St.Louis! We DO have a beautiful city with lots of historical buildings unlike any other city!
Our zoo has free admission as does our Science Center, along with many of our museums! The Anheuser-Busch brewery offers free tours of their facilities with a free beverage at the end for all of-age visitors.....we have wonderful restaurants of almost any ethnic origin one might want to try, several Casinos, trolley rides, river cruises...😁 and of course, there's the Arch!
Come give us a try!!!
This is Steph's little sister, she's helping clean my closet today so she couldn't comment first. I just wanted to say that it's cute that Ryan's shirt matched with the pretty girls hair & that me & my big sis watch your videos together anyways have a good day!
I really enjoy these kinds of videos. Good stuff.... Sometimes I think I should swing for the fences and go source like $1500 ($3000-$4000 more product) worth of stuff however, sales have got SO slow that I am almost scared to do it. One video I would love to see is how or when you scaled up. There had to have been a moment where you said that's it we're going to get 200 more items. Or 400 more items. And if your sales through is that great every month then you are killing it. We only sale through about 25% of our total store a month.
I DO EBAY FOR EXTRA CASH AND TO GET OUT OF DEBT, AT FIRST I WAS STRUGGLING AND FELT LIKE I WAS WASTING MY TIME AS I WAS JUST PUTTING ALL THE MONEY I MADE BACK IN , THE ONLY THING THAT WAS GROWING MY INVENTORY AND I DONT HAVE MUCH SPACE , WHAT REALLY STARTED WORKING FOR ME WAS SENDING MY COST OF AN ITEM TO MY SECOND PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND IT ADDED UP QUICK! HAD COUPLE HUNDREDS JUST SENDING THE ITEM COST OF AT THE END OF EACH DAY THEN TO A SAVINGS ACCOUNT, I SHARE THIS IF SOME ONE FEELS THE SAME AS I FELT , IT MADE ME REALLY HAPPY ACTUALLY HAVING THE MONEY AVAILABLE IN A SEPARATE ACCOUNT -
