Starry made a yearly trip out of the mountains and to the city. The purpose, buying food in bulk!
Keeping a well stocked pantry is essential for any homestead that wants to 1) SAVE MONEY 2) Be More self sustainable 3) Have FREEDOM from the store!!
A well organized and stocked pantry needs to be filled not just with garden spoils and home canned items, but also staples! Staples include such food items as your grains, oatmeal, wheat, millet, different varieties of rice, beans, sugar, oils, baking powder, corn starch, nuts, peanut butter, spices, pastas, instant potatoes...the list is long! BUT purchases can be made in increments, spreading out the cost thus also allowing you time to properly store and packaged your new bulk items.
ALWAYS remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Dont go hog wild and think you need to catch up if you dont have these items in 50 to 100lbs bags already in your pantry.
Be aware, make a list, purchase only what you NEED and will eat, be smart...and remind yourself the money up front will PAY you back tons in the end!!!
Watch and learn....Starry scratches the surface of some bulk items YOU need to be looking at today!!

Those bulk pinto beans come to $1.78/lb and the non gmo pinto beans at the dollar tree are $.50/lb. Even at the amish and or mennonite stores, dollar tree beats them on price over bulk on pintos. And dang it, it is the ONLY food item they have that actually beats bulk prices.
BulkFoods dot com is an awesome website that sells pretty much anything bulk you can think of. Its not the fun of getting out, but it is way cheaper than the mainstream grocery store. After my stroke, I didn't see a human being (except the UPS guy) for 2-plus years and had no transportation. BulkFoods saved my backside.
white rice is healthier than brown, because there is something called phytic acid, and in all brown rice and whole grain flour, phytic acid exists, phitic acid steals calcium from our bones and teeth due to the fact that the body cannot deal with it so it uses calcium, magnesium and several other minerals to excrete it from the body, so either buy more white rice, or sprout your brown rice
Good tips for large families, but if your feeding one or two people most would be a waste. Also, stores must show the price per oz, lb, etc under each item. Also putting a lot of money into you're pantry items might not be a good idea. The money could be invested.
I'm starting my pantry over. I am trying to learn as much as i can. Im a single mom of two kids. I am disabled so im on a very fixed income. I wish we had a store like this! I go to Costco and stock up from them. That store is 2 hours away :( do you have any tips I can use. I'm learning how to garden but it's hard to know what is the best things to grow. I'm just feeling overwhelmed. Help!
I found this article in my Bing search from Feb. 2014 about WinCo opening stores in TX. It gave me a little chuckle when I read the part about it being "Walmart's worst nightmare,". Walmart has been the Mom and Pop stores worst nightmare for several decades now.
I decided to do a Bing search for Winco, the Winston Salem location did not show there. The google search is now saying the Winston Salem location is permanmently closed. : ( Google needs to just take it out of their search system.
It came up when I googled Winco, so I called the number listed for it and there is a message saying it is no longer in service. I'm not sure if it was open at one time and went out of business or why it even shows up on the google search. Either way it is very dissapointing. Maybe there is a store around the Charlotte or Raleigh areas that sale in bulk.
Yes, the most important is that you prepare your soul to be ready in case you are called before God and Jesus...nothing will matter if you are going to hell. I want to prep, I want to buy land but the system is pushing us down and suppress any efforts to get money and buy the land. Those with land will do better than those who do not have it..
Winco is a great source for bulk foods. If not in your area, search terms like grocery outlet, canned food warehouse, etc. https://www.wincofoods.com/stores#/?coordinates=42.76800415887062,-138.13325300750736&zoom=3
Bob's Red Mill http://www.bobsredmill.com/ is a good source for grains, seeds, and mixes, although I find the same products locally for less.

I was wondering something while watching this video. You are all about growing organic food, but I don't see you buying organic food. Is there a reason for that? I buy my rice organic, because I know they use al lot of toxics growing rice. I like fairtrade also because I know farmers get more money for growing their rice. They are usually so poor.
Thank you for taking us on this trip with you. Love this store and wish we had one. Live in a small town and can not get bulk. Ask our Kroger store if they could get bulk for me they said NO 😢. Do you know of a place that has bulk I can order cheap ?.
