I am taking a charity bundle to Cuba.
50 cents per item? Where are you buying, in Cebu, Philippines? In Canada, at big chain thrift stores (Value Village,) regional ones Talize), or even independent real charity ones, the average price is $4 to $12 EACH item. Even when I go to major sales for half-price or get my senior's discount (10-130%) it is rare to get kids clothes for less than two dollars -- that is four times what you say you are paying. Five dollars for something fabulous or two dollars for something very good - this is my target. And I am very selective about not taking anything with stains or that needs repair. Brand name and themed items (Disneyland etc) is over-prriced IMHO. Perhaps the thrift store matket is totally different in USA, what with our weak currency, higher labour costs, more 'advanced' social welfare system and hence much higher taxes, plus higher transportation and postal costs. Short story: you can't buy quality in Canada for anything close to the price you are mentioning. The only way I can get close is by going to smaller independent thrift shops run by churches etc and ONLY buying items that are on sale. And then it is just a few pieces. It is terribly tiome-consuming work.
So, fifty cents each here is dreaming. Canadian viewers keep this in mind. I welcome hearing from viewers in other countries, especially UK, Australia, NZ etc.
Hey Casey, thanks for your videos! I've been buying higher end brands of kids clothes and trying to sell them on eBay...some sell right away, some take a while. I figure higher end brands get more bang for my investment...is this flawed thinking? Just looking for part time income for now.
Hi there! I'm going to start selling my sons baby clothes on ebay. It is mostly Carter's with Oshkosh, Gerber, ect. A lot is like new, with A LOT never worn!
My questions are would it be more profitable to sell Individual pieces, or small lots?
Also do you ever sell items with small defects or stains. Then just make sure they are photographed and pointed out in the listing
I love your quotes "you can't grow your sales unless you grow your inventory" and the world is not conquered by home runs but by singles and doubles". Again another great video! After my divorce I had to get a storage to put my beloved items and I was going to get rid of everything now I and just going to put those bad & good memories on eBay! Keep the unit to house my inventory. Again another great video!!!
Used items i average $10-$15 on clothing yes. You just look up similar and price accordingly. Typically the new price isn't too important because the item might not be available any longer. or available to the person who is buying it
Great Question. I will put this in Q&A Friday also. For girls, Frozen items sell good, fancy dresses and holiday dresses. Disney items like dress up princess outfits and things like that. For boys, Minecraft, Star Wars, Teenage mutant ninja turtles and super hero clothing. Also anything designer or really good name brand like, Polo, Tommy, Nike, Adidas, things like that
Our items are stored in the office and the home office room. You can check out my video on tours of both offices. here is the link to all the texas goodwill outlets.
Can you talk about how your day goes? Do you source every day what if you find clothes with stains that you did not see in store? Do you wash it? When you list item, do you list every day? How do you prepare? Do you have a special day when you'll prepare say 20 items you are going to photograph? Thanks
What do you mean my totals? a screenshot of my eBay account? you can go to my sold listings on eBay and completeds and see i sell double that in 1 day. I know a lot of people have a hard time believing it but selling thousands of dollars a month on eBay is not difficult. If you have never done it then i can understand why, and several years ago 3/4 i wouldn't have believed it either but its def doable.
I have tried to sell my daughters dresses and I have not had much luck. They are beautiful expensive dresses, and still just cant sell them. I have the most luck selling womens shoes. I sell at least a couple pairs a day.
All my listings are but it now which has worked so well for the last 5 years. I did best offer for awhile but I didn't like it. I have them priced around $12.99 - $14.99 free shipping. Maybe it's too much?
Thank you so much for posting this, I am still learning and will at some point be on Ebay. It is important to me to know some things before getting on there. You see, I have a certain form of 'dyslexia' and it can at time be challenging...BUT, I will prevale. Just need a patient person to teach me how to work Ebay and get me listed and teach me how to complet listing, and everything that includes, and then I will be good to go. Thanks, Sherry :)
+RockstarFlipper Thanks. Just hope it works out. Jobs are hard to come by and my job won't give us any hrs so gotta find ways to pay bills. Plus I rather work my but off for me rather than a company that treats their employees like trash
+RockstarFlipper Turns out it's against store policy since I work there. So now I have to find something else to sell. I'll start with my son's clothes and maybe try toys like legos. Just found out a second hand sit and spin we got for free is considered vintage. Once I can figure out the shipping costs for most items then I'll start listing them on ebay. Hopefully my items won't sit too long and the sale will bring in a decent profit after ebay/paypal fees, the cost of sourcing and shipping
i have not really bought too much brand new stuff, but at $1.20 each it sounds like they should be a good deal for sure. most used pieces i pay $.50-$1 so $1.20 brand new with tags would be great. those brands should sell pretty well. Your break even price would be around $4.50-$5 per item and i don't see you having any problems getting $7+ per item.
+Larry J Clark i offer free shipping as a way to drive sales because im volume based. when i price a piece of clothing i know its almost always $2.60 for normal items and $5.90 for padded flat if its over a LB like heavy hoodies and Jeans so i price accordingly.
Nice video, I have been wondering about childrens clothing, nobody really says anything positive about. I thought there would be money in it.....didn't think that much. but I can get use to that, I see some of the items you sold for .25 or .50 cents all the time at your sales in really good condition, but was nervous to buy it.
I buy most of my kids clothes for $.25 and $.50 and they usually sell for $8-$12 per piece. On $8 sale I get to keep $4.50. So $4 profit on $.50 purchase. It's not getting rich but they add up. And when your selling 20-30 pieces per day it's a nice cushion of smalls. That's in addition to all my adult clothes, accessories, etc. wish I could sell clothes on Amazon lol
+michele heiny Sometimes we use a mannequin, sometimes we hang them up against a white wall and take the photo, depends on the size etc. But thats the best 2 ways to do it. Thanks so much for watching.
+Jess C. Thank you for the kind words!! clothing is really the highest margin items on all of eBay. You can pick up used items for less than a $1 and sell them for $10 and up easy. a lot of them $15-$20 and some even $25+ can't beat those margins, which very little capital output
