I was curious why you have 2 Ebay accounts?
RALLI ROOTS (5 months ago)
A few reasons, mainly to separate inventory, and because we're all over youtube we want some privacy on another account so that we can track our stats the right way.

Ralli Roots - Thanks for the vid - to test car radios, just use a 12 VDC "Wall wart" (transformer / power supply) and strip the two wires or another 12 volt battery (like a car battery). Next connect the black wire of the unit to the "negative" or minus terminal of the battery or power supply. The other positive/ red/ + should be connected to the red and yellow wire of the car stereo. You can use a small alligator clip as these are in the middle of the wiring harness. This will enable you to at least power the unit up and eject / play cassettes and/or tapes, etc. Doing this you can then take pictures of the unit lit up in all of it's glory!! Some examples are here (shameless plug of eBay store) https://www.ebay.com/str/uncommonelements

Do you guys list fixed price with auction or just fixed price with make offer? Auction by it now? As for ya Oakley sunglasses I have paid 2.25 for vintage Ray-Ban aviators for 60 not to shabby my local thrift store has 5.99 fill a bag sale once a month it's nice tons vintage but I'm still learning the ropes on clothing. For me it's car stuff but clothing seems to go good for me and motocross gear. One more question what's the big flea market in St Petersburg Tampa area has PowerLine above it big big place? Anyone have any luck there?

Hi Mr and Mrs Roots. Thanks for the inspiration, education and motivation. We are getting started. We hit a Goodwill store yesterday just to look around and picked up a couple of test items. Found a few on Ebay that are selling for 10x what we paid for them. Then we went around the house for stuff we have but never use and has value. Found a 15 year old GShock Mudman watch I got for my birthday and never wore, after researching everything we are about to put up on eBay we are sitting on a couple thousand dollars. Have two Apple Tvs with only one TV in the house lol, that's getting put up. Didnt even know my Ipad 2 was worth anything. Thats going up, bought Hilfiger shirts yesterday, thats going up. This is not only a good business to start, this is going to get addicting and fun. Had an Ebay account since 2001 and sold stuff here and there over the years, but never thought it could be a business. I have a few questions like about at what point you knew you could do this full time, but will try to watch more of your videos to see if the answers are there. Dont want to take up too much of your time. Thanks guys

Thanks for the tip on feedback vs returns. I just sold a rare mirror advertising piece on ebay for a friend. Due to the age of the item and how fragile it is, I was worried about returns or damage during shipping. But the buyer gave me positive feedback the day they got the mirror. Do you ever have any returns after you get positive feedback or is it a done deal each time?
RALLI ROOTS (5 months ago)
chuckweb66 awesome!! We’ve never had a return after positive feedback. I guess it could happen though.

I had my first return of the year today. The guy left good feedback 3 weeks ago and opened up a return after 26 days stating he was "A government DHS worker on furlough and needed to pay my bills, I hope you understand". He is paying return shipping and I can probably resell it, so it's no big deal, but I guess the government shutdown effected me in this circumstance. Great vid guys! I appreciate your content.

How do you get the stench out of the clothes you get from thrift stores before you sell them? It almost smells like formaldehyde!
Garage Sale Addict (5 months ago)
You could try pre-soaking the clothes and try scrubbing them before putting them in the washing machine.
Erin Ellis (5 months ago)
@RALLI ROOTS lol 😜 I've washed clothes from Goodwill more than 3x and they still stink. I've also tried vinegar. Maybe I just have bad luck or weak detergent

Question about hats: do you wash them before you sell them? If so, do you do it by hand or machine and do you dry or hang dry? It seems like when I find a good baseball type hat the inside is dirty. I'm hesitant to sell in that condition. Or do you only buy hats that look brand new? And you two are awesome. Thank you for everything you do. I have a killer commute and I listen to your videos the whole way. I've been watching the early stuff and you guys better and better every year. Wishing you all the best. And I'll be competing for a spot in the March class! It's like an Olympic sport getting in to your class! I'll be prepared this time! 😁❤ Oh and sending healing vibes for Callie's Mom!

Debra Howe (5 months ago)
Ryan &Ally,....would you recommend Mercari as a sellout site? I just found it while shopping for pewter. Thanks
Anne Marie (5 months ago)
Debra Howe Its easier if you are getting started! The payout is a bit longer BUT its direct to your account and you can clear out your closet faster. Once you get the hang of that, use that mercari money to start sourcing for ebay! =) Glad I could help ...
Debra Howe (5 months ago)
@Anne Marie thanks for that info, Ann Marie. I want to proverbially get my feet wet there first. Blessings
Anne Marie (5 months ago)
I do Mercari also & I find that the traffic is a lot bigger than ebay for items that are not in direct need on ebay. They are a different market. I find that simple and “in” things sell more on mercari as opposed to ebay its more items that are hard to find.. etc.
RALLI ROOTS (5 months ago)
Debra Howe we only sell on eBay and amazon so we can’t really say. We’ve heard it’s good tho :)

Hey, I know this is gonna come across as weird, but I'm just getting started reselling and figured out something important that I wanted to share with everyone. What I've found in the past few weeks is that the competition here is brutal. People are NOT nice. Well, I am, and there was one lady I met who was great, but the majority of the other resellers I have seen out here in my area are absolute DIRTBAGS who wanna grab your finds out of your hands. They're those vulture type people you talked about in this one video where you did some garage sales. Several of them were hovering around me when I was looking through things. A few jumped into the racks just ahead of where I was, anticipating I might find something they didn't, but of course they're not taking their time, they're in a hurry. Did like you recommended and took my time. What I found was two things. Nobody's going through hats in my area! There were a few great hats I found, one was a vintage CAT (Caterpillar) hat, that goes for $60. Mine has a couple of stains, so it might go for less, but even if I can only get half that, I paid $3 for it. And I also found that NO ONE out in this area is doing toys. Because I live in the bible belt- and this isn't hate on people's religion, I'm just saying that it tends to breed this overly serious environment, where people don't have any inner child or tend to believe in fun or whatever. These dour sourpusses didn't even think of going into the toy section, and were just picking the clothes to the bones. So I came home with $100+ in sealed, new in box, or still-tagged plush toys for resale, and I spent $9. Nobody was really doing tees, either, I imagine for the same reasons. I found a great Notre Dame tee and one of those Buc-ees tees with the beaver. Also a newer printed Beatles shirt that sells a lot of copies. So maybe this is a good thing to consider for people reading this. So, the long and short: Don't necessarily get into hats and toys. What I'm saying is like, maybe find out what nobody else in your area is doing and do THAT. I'm going to go find a few more stores to check out toys. I'm betting there's a sea of great stuff out there, because of the way the culture here is. Toys are "kid stuff" and not money or collectibles to the minds of these people. And even if it were, they would never let themselves be "the guy who sells the toys" because they have to be all serious and stuffy. As you can imagine from my user picture, I have no problem being that chick who sells toys and tees. XD
Russell Hoskins (5 months ago)
Wow, sounds like where I live in NC...A few of the local resellers are pretty cool and we share tips suggestions, bolo's, and new sources. Then there are those that won't talk, try to jump ahead on a rack etc...we just ignore them or even look behind them while they are still there and we get all excited about a book or clothing article that in reality is a miss....but they don't know that :D ... Thanks for the tips and here is one for you if you aren't doing it already...Books on Amazon fulfilled by Merchant...I've been doing it for a year now and am steadily hitting $600 average per month with a 1500 avg book inventory...My average cost per item is $0.45. We have no debt thanks to Dave Ramsay so even this modest income is great for us. Plus what we do on eBay Nice relaxing work at home living.

It happens to me every year. I learned from a doctor at an urgent care clinic that it's probably from looking down at a phone and at a computer a lot. He treated it with steroids and it took the pain away immediately! After that I try to hold my head up more when looking at my phone and I use my phone as my computer now.

Their ebay site is "The Hip Lion" They explained in a recent video why their listings don't show in the sold category, has something to do with the type of listing...think it is the "Till cancelled" option.
