Thanks for this! I live in Chicago, and the closest outlet is almost two hours away. So for the gas and the time, it's barely worth it. We do have a large variety of thrift stores locally; Goodwill, Salvation Army, Value Village and Unique are big chains here. We also have a couple pawn shops although those tend to be pretty high priced. What advice do you have for selling within certain niche categories, maybe a little obscure? I am pretty knowledgeable about some things that don't fall into really popular, easy/quick sale categories, so my sales are slower, but can be high profit if I'm patient and can write a good listing to attract that smaller market.
You keep saying it will sell for this price and you will "net" this much....What does that mean. Is that because of your free shipping? Thanks. Your videos are one of the reasons I am starting to flip....
Wade yes. For example if i sell a price for $10, i will NET $5. $2.60 to ship and around $2.40 paypal and eBay fees which is $5 fees... leaving me $5 NET IN POCKET. My profit would be $4 if i paid $1 for the item
Hi first of thanks for all the info you provide. Your one of my favorite ebay sellers to watch. I was wondering if you could do a full in depth video of the accounting, sales tax, buisness permit, basically legal stuff side of selling on ebay as a legitimate buisness
I don't go to the bins, and I almost always make at least $10 profits on clothing items. Just from regular Goodwill store items. You just have to go on sale days and know your brands and trends well. It pays to spend some time researching those things. When you say you're going to sell for $17, net $12, and make $8, are you offering free shipping?
Also a question about Hawaiian shirts: I see these all the time. Do they all sell well, or only certain brands?
Yes Kristy. If i sell for $17 thats with free shipping. So I'm spending $2.60 for shipping, $1.36 for ebay and $.79 on paypal which is $4.75 total or $12.25 NET. even on a $3-$4 cost item thats $8-$9 profit.
Also Salvation Army found a Daytona Helmet which I guess is the smallest allowable motorcycle helmet from the DOT it has a slight a mark on the top but other than that it has the dust bag, and I I paid $5.99,I might be able to sell it for about 30.00 ish.....what are you all finding?
Hey Casey nice finds, for those of us that have Salvation Army's close by... Found some good stuff recently. Paid $9.99 for one of those printers that are 4 x 6 they print photos now I personally don't need that but apparently they still sell well on Amazon for like $100 I am I'm restricted in that category so I listed it on eBay for 49.99+20 for shipping and it sold within 30 seconds. Fingers crossed no return... Was new never opened.
I've never commented yet, but been watching your videos for last 2 months and just wanted to send out a thank you and let you know you really are a "Rockstar"! Love your stuff....very helpful and love that you keep it real and don't fluff it any! Great work and thanks for putting in extra time for us!
I truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge about selling on eBay, and sourcing on other Ecommerce platforms. I have been watching your channel for almost a year. Keep up the great work!! Also, haters are going to hate. Ignore them!! Their just jealous, and will never amount to anything. Be Blessed and take care.
Hey Casey, Does using Best Offer take alot of time? Do you set a minimum on the listing? I get lowball offers on things I don't even have Best Offer on. Does it move inventory faster? Do you set the price higher to start with? Maybe a future video would help. Tell me if you have one already. I do free shipping and am a believer. Do you think your listings appear higher if you list everyday? I know my sales slow down if I am not listing as frequently. I know I need to list, list, list. I'm only a part timer though. Ready for the 4th quarter push. Thanks man.
Rita, Free shipping will put you higher in search rankings so thats a def YES!. just add the cost into the price. Best offers help move inventory NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. And you will get lowball offers which i just decline. You can set up to decline offers under a certain amount automatically to save on time.
I am so glad you did this video! THANK YOU CASEY!! I don't have bins either, but where I live I am surrounded by a lot of retail thrift stores. I've found a lot of plush, board games and smaller things like toys that are priced similar (I assume) to an outlet store. I haven't gotten into the clothing too much yet because I need to get more familiar with the brands. And I'm waiting for my poly bags to get here! 😊 But so far so good.
jesse navarro $9k. 25% is eBay fees. Paypal fees and shipping. Cost of goods is 10% so 35%. Meaning. 65% net profit or $9750. Call it $9k just to be safe. October sales ended a little late at $13,500. November and December will go up to 15-17k
jesse navarro TheElectronixZone1 I can hear the skepticism in your comments but honestly my $15k sales $9k profit is peanuts. There are guys making $25k. $50k. $100k. Profit. It's not that hard and not that unbelievable
I've had a hard time getting that to work. For some reason it says my Paypal account is not recognized??? As soon as I un-click that option it works. I'm not techie at all but would love to figure out how to fix that. That would totally fix the problem of non-payers.
Brandy Bass Sorry to hear that. My personal next step would be to get an idea of their track record from their feedback. If it's a good track record, I'd take into consideration anything big going on in the news or anything like that, which could have someone sidetracked. Since you've already sent invoices, plus sent friendly emails, it's personal choice now. You have up to 32 days after the listing ended to file the claim and still have a chance at getting fees refunded. Personally though, I'd probably give it until this evening, since it's Friday and most people get paid on Friday. If nothing happens by tonight or tomorrow morning, I'd personally open a case.
I bought it in February so 10 months ago. I knew how much extra income i had and what the increase in payment from my old car to this was. I would have NEVER bought this 2 or 3 years ago. Or even last year. I probably jumped the gun a LITTLE this year and shoulda waited till after 4th quarter but its worked out. I don't wanna get into details of how much the payment difference is etc, but once the income monthly because more than the increase in payment and insurance i took the jump
Thanks so much for doing this. I haven't started yet. I call this "selling on eBay school. I've watched some others but decided to mostly watch you. I tried for a little bit one before and gave up because I got discouraged
I include all my fees and shipping into the profits (25% expense cost). And yes MOST people will only earn moderate amounts of money but if you dedicate your self and do it full time you can easily make $5000+ or $10,000+ like i do.. Im living proof..... And i don't know what "Trust fund kid" means.... my parents are middle class, retired and my mom works for me on my payroll part time for extra cash....i have never been given anything in my life...sooo... and my youtube money is 3 digits..so i don't think I'm getting by on this.
Probably because following what trust fund youtube kids say you'll likely be making minimum wage at best. Nothing wrong with that per se, but it's far from the easy "turn $30 into $300" that they headlines seem to promise. That's $300 being idealistic and doesn't include ebay/paypal fees, a huge amount of labor prepping, photoing, listing, shipping, returns and other misc. expenses.
hey can you lookout for a black T-shirt with Harley logo on front pocket. Also on the back a full layout of the eagle with Harley Davison word on it. For women size large, I've been looking but I can't find it. Thanks
