15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

Iran's Fashion Renaissance: VICE Reports

10:18
Click here to subscribe to VICE: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE Before Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, citizens weren't required to wear the Islamic cover known as the hijab and the country's fashion was almost identical to that of the United States and Europe. After the revolution, though, the hijab became required by law. Although the standard black hijab is still commonplace—especially in rural areas in the country—Iran has recently seen a fashion renaissance, and cities like Tehran are becoming home to new and innovative designers. The clothing may still have to respect the Islamic dress codes, but the bright colors and designs would never have been seen a decade ago in Iran. Last summer, VICE went to Tehran to attend the third annual Fajr Fashion Show and speak with some of Iran's new designers. The country's top officials—responsible for granting permission for the show—were all seated in the front row to show show their support. And to make sure the models were adhering to the country's law. Inside Tommy Hilfiger’s Ivy-Covered Connecticut Castle | Celebrity Homes | Architectural Digest

01:53
In this episode of Celebrity Homes, Architectural Digest goes inside Tommy Hilfiger's house. The iconic fashion designer's abode has it all, from views of NYC skyline and a full-size tennis court to a Turkish-themed screening room and a dining room with a gothic revival oak table and Moroccan-upholstered leather chairs. Tommy and Dee Hilfiger‘s castle sits atop a high hill in Greenwich, Connecticut, with views stretching all the way to the Long Island Sound. In fact, from Tommy’s third-floor office, in what was once the billiard room, the quintessential American designer can even see New York City. “The immediate landscape is very rural—we feel like we’re in the English countryside—yet the city is so close,” says Tommy, who is sitting in the home’s wood-paneled entryway, lacing his sneakers in preparation for a game of tennis with his wife on the sunken court that lies just beyond a magnificent lawn dotted with quirky cone-shaped boxwoods; Miranda Brooks masterminded the landscape. Behind him a dramatic staircase climbs to a second-floor landing outfitted with Flemish still-life paintings and a pair of stag antlers from Baron de Rothschild’s château. Given the decor—not to mention the romantic roofline, ivy-covered turrets, and leaded bay windows—it would be easy to mistake the house for something closer to a historic manor house than a suburban home. In many ways Round Hill, as it is now called, is a perfect mix of Tommy’s sporty, all-American style and Dee’s sophisticated European aesthetic. Dee, a handbag designer who had previously lived in Europe working as a model, fell in love with the house from the first minute the couple drove up the switchback driveway. Originally known as Château Paterno, the castle was built for real-estate magnate Charles Vincent Paterno in 1939 by award-winning architect Greville Rickard, a graduate of the Yale School of Architecture. In 1961 the art collector Joseph Hirshhorn bought the property and used it to house nearly 6,000 19th- and 20th-century paintings and sculptures—most of which can now be found in the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. Over the years the castle had been remodeled in parts and added on to, but by the time the Hilfigers pulled up, the place had been long neglected. They immediately enlisted architect Andre Tchelistcheff to oversee a renovation that included new electrical wiring and a painstaking restoration of the original terra-cotta roof, whose tiles needed to be replaced; molds were made for new tiles, which were cast in Turkey and finally installed one by one. The house is a local historic landmark, he adds, so Tchelistcheff relied on old photos and architectural plans to re-create the original footprint and devised new additions based on existing elements, such as the soaring two-and-a-half-story leaded bay window in the entryway. To achieve that layered, lived-in feel while also adding entertaining spaces and creating more relaxed, family-friendly rooms, the Hilfigers turned to decorator Martyn Lawrence Bullard, who had worked on their Miami home. In the dining room, Dee and Bullard mixed Ming dynasty porcelain from the 16th and 17th centuries with Venetian glass, Portofino linens, and Tiffany silverware. In the kitchen, 18th-century blue-and-white delftware is paired with curtains and upholstery by Chelsea Textiles and a rug that previously belonged to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The eclectic architectural and design elements that are part of Round Hill’s DNA could have posed a challenge, but Bullard drew inspiration from them and had a lot of fun with the details. Giorgio Armani Documentary - Success Story

09:54
http://www.evancarmichael.com/support/ - SUPPORT ME :) Like this video? Please give it a thumbs up below and/or leave a comment - Thank you!!! My name is Evan Carmichael and I believe that the fastest and most effective way to build a business is to model the strategies of people who have already done what you're trying to do. I call it Modeling the Masters. My last post with almost 8,000 views was 3 Success Lessons from the Twitter Founders. Today we're going to take a closer look at how a young man from a war-torn country grew from poverty to becoming one of the top fashion designers in the world. This is the story of preeminent fashion designer Giorgio Armani and the top 3 lessons that you can learn from his success. "Remain true to yourself and your philosophy. Changing in the face of adversity will in fact diminish your credibility with your customers." - Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani (born July 11, 1934) grew up in the small northern Italian town of Piacenza. Armani grew up in a family of five that was hard working, but never had too much money to go around. His childhood was not an easy one. The realities of the Second World War in which Italy was caught at the time, were all too apparent to the young Armani. After losing two young friends to a war bomb, Armani and his sister also became the target of machine gun fire from an overhead plane. However, Armani and his family survived the War and relocated to Milan. It was a city decidedly marked by class division, and one in which Armani's parents struggled to rebuild their lives. They found it hard to find their footing in this much bigger and tougher city than their little town of Piacenza. And so, he enrolled in the medical school at the University of Bologna, where he studied for two years to become a doctor. However, when he discovered that the sight of blood made him weak, Armani knew that line of work was not for him. In 1953, Armani was called to fulfill his military obligations, which he accepted eagerly as a chance to clear his head and gain new direction in his life. For all of his experience, Armani was assigned to the infirmary. However, he quickly grew bored with his prospects and realized that war life was not the romantic notion he had seen in the movies. He took a short break from the service and took a trip to Milan that would forever change his life. That was where he met a friend of his who happened to work at La Rinascente, Milan's largest department store, and who would give him his first break into the fashion industry. After the meeting, Armani said he had become a believer in destiny. That destiny has made him known for his classically tailored, sleek power suits and clean, high quality fabrics that everyone from the who's who of Hollywood to the bankers on Wall Street have fallen in love with. Now, Giorgio Armani S.p.A. has over $1.5 billion in revenue and a retail empire that extends to more than 35 countries. Action Item #1: Stick to Your Vision Action Item #2: Stretch Your Brand Action Item #3: Follow Your Conscience True Story Armani has designed clothing for some of the most influential people on the planet, but, according to Armani himself, some of his proudest designs were for Princess Charlene of Monaco. He has been clothing her since she first wore one of his pieces in 2008 at the Olympic Games in Beijing. He spoke to Vogue magazine about designing her wedding gown and believes Princess Charlene "knows how to wear my creations with nonchalance and confidence of youth." Getting to the point where royalty requests a specific designers clothing is considered the pinnacle of a designer's career, but Armani continues to challenge the market and re-invent his designs, which was shown in his design for Princess Charlene's wedding dress. According to Armani, "I felt the new design was appropriate given that there would inevitably be comparisons with Princess Grace, and though such comparisons are of course a sign of admiration, each person has their own individual and unique style, and style is an expression of the times." He goes on to say it was one of greatest creations. Quotes "In this business you can't have a destination, an arrival point. Otherwise your competitors will overtake you, or you become complacent." "The long and short of it for me is that the entrepreneur is the one who at the end decides yes or no and I like that even though it's a lot of responsibility." "I supposed it would have been great to invent something as classic and enduring as the tuxedo. But if I was collecting royalties, I wish I'd invented the corkscrew." What Do You Think? Do you keep your vision sharpened? Do you continually stretch your brand and expand your reach? Are you following your conscience? Tell me what you think by leaving a message below.

Christian Dior | Fashion Designers

02:48
Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500167-Christian-Dior-Fashion-Designers Christian Dior was one of the most influential designers of the Twentieth Century and certainly one of the most famous. He studied political science and did a short stint running an art gallery. He started selling sketches to fashion designers around 1935. He went to work for the designer Robert Piguet in 1938 and he stayed there until he had to do his military during World War Two. After the war he went to work for another prominent designer, Lucien Lelong and he stayed there until 1946. With backing from a textile company he left Lelong and decided to open up his own Couture house. The first collection that he presented on February 12, 1947 was immediately successful and one of the most influential first collections in the history of fashion. The collection he presented on February 12, 1947 shortly became known as his New Look collection. That wasn't the name Dior gave to it, but it was actually kind of bestowed on him by Carmel Snow, an American fashion editor. The clothes were so luxurious and so much more lavish and feminine than what people had been used to during war time, Carmel Snow said, oh, Christian you've created this new look and the name stuck. Obviously, people all over referred to it as the New Look collection. It really defined fashion for the next ten years. After his first collection, Dior rose quickly to become one of the major taste makers in fashion. Every collection he unveiled was eagerly anticipated. People said, what is Christian Dior gonna show us for spring? What's the Dior line for winter? These things were really looked forward to. He experimented with a different silhouette every year. He was always inspired by beautiful fabric and fashion at this time really stressed a very sophisticated mature look and that Christian Dior really delivered. To prepare his collections he always sketched his concepts in secret. He went off to his country house and worked there and then kind of arrived in Paris with the idea for the next collection. Despite his power and his influence he was a very modest man and was very personable. His models and his employees all liked him. He was very influential as a taste maker for the next ten years. Even though his career was relatively short Christian Dior was amazingly influential as a fashion designer and the House of Dior continues to be a major force in high fashion.

The Quint: Indian Fashion Designers Take Handloom Industry Global

01:42
Indian designers are helping to revive the centuries-old tradition of handmade textiles by taking them global. The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is encouraging designers to revive the country's handloom industry by incorporating handmade fabrics into high-end fashion and couture. Working with fabrics ranging from Eastern Indian silks to cotton fabrics spun into thread on hand-powered spinning wheels, famous Indian designers like Rohit Bal, Shruti Sancheti, and Rina Dhaka, put their handloom collections on display in Amazon India Fashion Week. Indian fashion designer Gautam Gupta says while there is an increasing awareness and demand for handmade fabrics, designers have an important role to play in popularising the industry. India currently produces the majority of world's handwoven textiles, and the Indian handloom industry is the second largest employer in rural India after agriculture, according to Indian Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF). According to IBEF, in 2015-16, India exported around $360 million USD of handloom products, that's almost a three percent increase on the previous year. Top buyers of Indian handloom products were the US, the UK, and the UAE. Chinese Designer Guo Pei Presents Fashion Show During Paris Haute Couture Week

02:18
Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei brought her latest creation to the Paris Haute Couture Week Spring/Summer 2017 on Wednesday in the French capital. Under the theme of 'legend', Guo's fashion show culminated in the appearance of legendary 85-year-old American supermodel Carmen Dell'Orefice. "We started to know the world from the legends of the past. From this show, I want to interpret that what we do today might be legends in future," said Guo. Guo used complicated embroidery with traditional Chinese craftsmanship to render the Gothic architecture in her gowns, expressing a Chinese designer's imagination about classic western civilization. "I'm excited that she is able to interpret so much of European culture and history from a perspective that is so fresh, and just decadent as well and gorgeous," said an audience member. Guo is the first Asian fashion designer to be invited by the Paris Haute Couture Week. The Spring/Summer 2017 show was the third time that she has attended the Paris event. "As a Chinese designer, Guo has made great achievements on the international stage. We are proud of her," said a Chinese audience member attending the show. Guo's portfolio has presented a new look of Chinese contemporary fashion design which has won her recognition from industry experts. "I'm very happy for her, and for China in general, to be discovered as a real designer, not only a country with fabrics, not only [known for] making fashion. You have great talents and Guo Pei is the first one," said Nicolas Gregorieff, editor-in-chief from OFN TV in Dubai. "Many foreigners told me that it was my work that helped them see different Chinese fashion. I think this is China's soft power," said Guo. Iranian designers fuse international and European fashion with traditional Iranian styles, breathing new life into Islamic fashion in Iran. At a rare official fashion show in the country's capital, Tehran, designers took the opportunity to display some colourful and vibrant Islamic costumes which are not only in line with Islamic codes, but also current fashion trends. While not exactly trying to put the chic into chador, Iranian fashion designer Haniyeh Abedi believes that the strict Islamic dress code requiring women to be covered from head to toe does not mean they cannot look good.
