15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

Christian Dior | Fashion Designers

02:48
Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500167-Christian-Dior-Fashion-Designers Christian Dior was one of the most influential designers of the Twentieth Century and certainly one of the most famous. He studied political science and did a short stint running an art gallery. He started selling sketches to fashion designers around 1935. He went to work for the designer Robert Piguet in 1938 and he stayed there until he had to do his military during World War Two. After the war he went to work for another prominent designer, Lucien Lelong and he stayed there until 1946. With backing from a textile company he left Lelong and decided to open up his own Couture house. The first collection that he presented on February 12, 1947 was immediately successful and one of the most influential first collections in the history of fashion. The collection he presented on February 12, 1947 shortly became known as his New Look collection. That wasn't the name Dior gave to it, but it was actually kind of bestowed on him by Carmel Snow, an American fashion editor. The clothes were so luxurious and so much more lavish and feminine than what people had been used to during war time, Carmel Snow said, oh, Christian you've created this new look and the name stuck. Obviously, people all over referred to it as the New Look collection. It really defined fashion for the next ten years. After his first collection, Dior rose quickly to become one of the major taste makers in fashion. Every collection he unveiled was eagerly anticipated. People said, what is Christian Dior gonna show us for spring? What's the Dior line for winter? These things were really looked forward to. He experimented with a different silhouette every year. He was always inspired by beautiful fabric and fashion at this time really stressed a very sophisticated mature look and that Christian Dior really delivered. To prepare his collections he always sketched his concepts in secret. He went off to his country house and worked there and then kind of arrived in Paris with the idea for the next collection. Despite his power and his influence he was a very modest man and was very personable. His models and his employees all liked him. He was very influential as a taste maker for the next ten years. Even though his career was relatively short Christian Dior was amazingly influential as a fashion designer and the House of Dior continues to be a major force in high fashion.

Giorgio Armani Documentary - Success Story

09:54
http://www.evancarmichael.com/support/ - SUPPORT ME :) Like this video? Please give it a thumbs up below and/or leave a comment - Thank you!!! My name is Evan Carmichael and I believe that the fastest and most effective way to build a business is to model the strategies of people who have already done what you're trying to do. I call it Modeling the Masters. My last post with almost 8,000 views was 3 Success Lessons from the Twitter Founders. Today we're going to take a closer look at how a young man from a war-torn country grew from poverty to becoming one of the top fashion designers in the world. This is the story of preeminent fashion designer Giorgio Armani and the top 3 lessons that you can learn from his success. "Remain true to yourself and your philosophy. Changing in the face of adversity will in fact diminish your credibility with your customers." - Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani (born July 11, 1934) grew up in the small northern Italian town of Piacenza. Armani grew up in a family of five that was hard working, but never had too much money to go around. His childhood was not an easy one. The realities of the Second World War in which Italy was caught at the time, were all too apparent to the young Armani. After losing two young friends to a war bomb, Armani and his sister also became the target of machine gun fire from an overhead plane. However, Armani and his family survived the War and relocated to Milan. It was a city decidedly marked by class division, and one in which Armani's parents struggled to rebuild their lives. They found it hard to find their footing in this much bigger and tougher city than their little town of Piacenza. And so, he enrolled in the medical school at the University of Bologna, where he studied for two years to become a doctor. However, when he discovered that the sight of blood made him weak, Armani knew that line of work was not for him. In 1953, Armani was called to fulfill his military obligations, which he accepted eagerly as a chance to clear his head and gain new direction in his life. For all of his experience, Armani was assigned to the infirmary. However, he quickly grew bored with his prospects and realized that war life was not the romantic notion he had seen in the movies. He took a short break from the service and took a trip to Milan that would forever change his life. That was where he met a friend of his who happened to work at La Rinascente, Milan's largest department store, and who would give him his first break into the fashion industry. After the meeting, Armani said he had become a believer in destiny. That destiny has made him known for his classically tailored, sleek power suits and clean, high quality fabrics that everyone from the who's who of Hollywood to the bankers on Wall Street have fallen in love with. Now, Giorgio Armani S.p.A. has over $1.5 billion in revenue and a retail empire that extends to more than 35 countries. Action Item #1: Stick to Your Vision Action Item #2: Stretch Your Brand Action Item #3: Follow Your Conscience True Story Armani has designed clothing for some of the most influential people on the planet, but, according to Armani himself, some of his proudest designs were for Princess Charlene of Monaco. He has been clothing her since she first wore one of his pieces in 2008 at the Olympic Games in Beijing. He spoke to Vogue magazine about designing her wedding gown and believes Princess Charlene "knows how to wear my creations with nonchalance and confidence of youth." Getting to the point where royalty requests a specific designers clothing is considered the pinnacle of a designer's career, but Armani continues to challenge the market and re-invent his designs, which was shown in his design for Princess Charlene's wedding dress. According to Armani, "I felt the new design was appropriate given that there would inevitably be comparisons with Princess Grace, and though such comparisons are of course a sign of admiration, each person has their own individual and unique style, and style is an expression of the times." He goes on to say it was one of greatest creations. Quotes "In this business you can't have a destination, an arrival point. Otherwise your competitors will overtake you, or you become complacent." "The long and short of it for me is that the entrepreneur is the one who at the end decides yes or no and I like that even though it's a lot of responsibility." "I supposed it would have been great to invent something as classic and enduring as the tuxedo. But if I was collecting royalties, I wish I'd invented the corkscrew." What Do You Think? Do you keep your vision sharpened? Do you continually stretch your brand and expand your reach? Are you following your conscience? Tell me what you think by leaving a message below.

Mahlet Afework, or Mafi, is an Ethiopian fashion designer who explores traditional African cultures through her work while embracing the comfortable, western-inspired t-shirt and pants look. Mafi started her career as a model and rap artist before shifting to fashion and is entirely self-taught via Google and YouTube videos. Ethiopia is a country with more than a third of its population within the ages of 15-35, and often most of the talent that is emerging goes by unnoticed within the country. Kana’s Masters at Work hopes to change that and put forth these prolific Ethiopians in the minds of their fellow Ethiopians by highlighting and sharing the talent, passion and hard work of the rising young Ethiopian talent. Subscribe to watch exclusive local Ethiopian productions and exclusive content from your favorite Kana TV shows and series. KanaTelevision.com/ Watch Kana Television on NileSat with 12226 Frequency | ቃና ቴቪን በናይልሳት 12226 ፍሪኩዌንሲ ይመልከቱ:: #KanaTV | #MyKana | #Ethiopia ****************************************¬****************************************¬************* KANA TV is an Ethiopian general entertainment, free-to-air, satellite TV channel bringing international standard programming to the Ethiopian population. Iran's Fashion Renaissance: VICE Reports

10:18
Click here to subscribe to VICE: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE Before Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, citizens weren't required to wear the Islamic cover known as the hijab and the country's fashion was almost identical to that of the United States and Europe. After the revolution, though, the hijab became required by law. Although the standard black hijab is still commonplace—especially in rural areas in the country—Iran has recently seen a fashion renaissance, and cities like Tehran are becoming home to new and innovative designers. The clothing may still have to respect the Islamic dress codes, but the bright colors and designs would never have been seen a decade ago in Iran. Last summer, VICE went to Tehran to attend the third annual Fajr Fashion Show and speak with some of Iran's new designers. The country's top officials—responsible for granting permission for the show—were all seated in the front row to show show their support. And to make sure the models were adhering to the country's law. Designers here are struggling to keep the Made in New Zealand label a reality. "I think it's an incredibly sad space to be occupying at the moment. We're looking down the gunnels of not a lot of us left," fashion designer Annah Stretton told 1 NEWS. Kristine Crabb recently announced she's closing down her "Miss Crabb" label. "I just kind of woke up one morning in October, and I was like, 'I don't want to do this anymore'," she said. And she's not alone. In recent times, fashion designer Andrea Moore has gone out of business and shoemaker Minnie Cooper has called it a day. Ms Crabb said: "I think maybe the last couple of years I've felt a little bit under pressure creatively." After 15 years in the industry, it's a struggle competing with the big importers. "The industry is shrinking every year, so that makes it quite hard," she said. Fashion brand World courted controversy for selling t-shirts with a "Made in New Zealand" tag, when the garment itself was manufactured in Bangladesh.

Get a degree in fashion design. Apply for an internship or apprenticeship. Ask your customers what they need. Be realistic: if you happen to live in a very warm country, you will have a tough time selling ski jackets. Downsize your ego. Think about real needs prior to think about fame. Looking cool is fine, but it won't sell garments by itself. Make concessions. Mass market may not sound as glamour as evening or luxury wear, but it will get you a long way and pay your groceries. Get inspiration from your competitors. Observe and note the fabric they are using; the zipper size they use (for their garments to be strong enough for its usage); fabric quality for its properties such as impermeability, comfort, breathability or care; colours that sells in your country. Burberry | Fashion Designers

03:06
Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500139-Burberry-Fashion-Designers Burberry's emergence as a fashion brand is relatively recent. Until 1990's when the brand was kind of revitalized, it was seen as something that was very classic and rugged, but not necessarily fashionable. The brand was founded in 1856 by a man named Thomas Burberry, who ran a small, kind of outdoor outfitting shop in Basingstoke, England. He moved to London where the business really expanded. Burberry popularized the fabric gabardine, which is a very tightly woven fabric, which is really good for outerwear, especially for outerwear for sports. He appealed to a clientele that was really interested in hunting and fishing and lots of other outdoor activities. Burberry grew into having the reputation of being very correct in town, but also very rugged on the playing fields and out in the country. British army officers wore Burberry coats, a style that was known as the Tielocken, during the Boer War in the 1890's. In 1911, Burberry outfitted Roald Amundsen on his South Pole expedition. During World War I the company added epaulets and D rings to their Tielocken coat, and the trench coat was born. After the war, Burberry started to line the trench coats with their distinctive check, and registered the design as a trademark, and it's, of course, become one of the most copied design in fashion. Burberry has received several royal warrants for its products, and the royal warrant is a mark of distinction that you get from the British Royal Family when they like your products. The trench coats are among their most famous products. Humphrey Bogart wore one in Casablanca, Audrey Hepburn wore one in Breakfast at Tiffany's. In the late 1990's, Burberry decided to venture into fashion, to try to change their image from being eternally classic, to being more desirable as a fashion brand. They hired an American fashion executive, Rosemary Bravo, and she brought in an Italian designer, Roberto Menichetti, and he launched the line Prorsum, which is one of the important Burberry lines now. For the first time, Burberry presented runway shows, had ads with well-known models, and the Burberry check moved from the lining of trench coats onto everything from bikinis to clothing for pets. The Prorsum line takes its name from the Latin word that means forward, and it's found on the little banner on the Burberry logo. When Menichetti departed in 2001, Christopher Bailey succeeded him. He had had experience prior to this at Donna Karan and at Gucci, and it's under his direction that the company has really moved forward, with major ad campaigns, lots more fragrances, and very diverse line of products that still conveys classic Burberry, but with a lot more fashion sense.

The Frock Fashion Line Designs Stylish Clothes for Orthodox Jewish Women | New York Post

03:16
Two Orthodox sisters living in Brooklyn want to break the stigma associated with dressing modestly. Australian transplants Simi Polonsky and Chaya Chanin are the creators of a fashion label, The Frock NYC, which adheres to the dress code required in the Orthodox Jewish community but does so with a fashionable flair. #Jewish #fashion #clothes #orthodox #style Orthodox and Hasidic women — who are required wear skirts or dresses and must cover their knees, shoulders, neckline and other areas of their bodies deemed “immodest” — can now do so while expressing their personal style. Two Orthodox sisters living in Brooklyn want to break the stigma associated with dressing modestly. Australian transplants Simi Polonsky and Chaya Chanin are the creators of fashion label The Frock NYC, which adheres to the strict dress code required in the Orthodox Jewish community — but does so with a fashionable flair. Orthodox and Hasidic women must cover their knees, shoulders, neckline and other areas of their bodies deemed “immodest.” “To the average person, the stereotype of an Orthodox Jewish woman and many modest-dressing women is that they’re dowdy, unattractive and frumpy,” Polonsky told The Post. As a teen, Polonsky struggled to adhere to the dress code, prompting her to work on creative ways to cover up without crimping her personal style and forming the basis for her eventual fashion line. “It was so uncool to dress modest. I didn’t want to be uncool, so how can we coolify being modest,” the designer told The Post. Shternie Mangami and Zelda Volkov count themselves as big fans of the brand and praise it for making shopping easier. “It was always hard for me to find cute clothing because of our modest restrictions, and I find that that’s what attracts everyone to them — that they’re so fun and hip and exciting,” Volkov told The Post. While The Frock’s designs are considered demure by many standards, critics of the label argue any push towards modernity is controversial and hurts the community. “I can’t believe that this woman in this community or these women are wearing this and promoting this, and what’s gonna happen to our children. If our daughters see this, what’s the next thing?” Chanin said of the reaction she has received from some of her peers. Rabbi Simon Jacobson explained, “It’s a real raw-nerve type of topic. It touches the buttons.” Controversy aside, the label has cultivated a following. The owners, who founded the business in 2010, said they started out small by dressing women in their Jewish community but now have customers all over the globe. The designers see no conflict between their traditional dress code and free expression. “We live in America, the country that is governed by probably the most laws that you can, and we’re known as the land of the free. So to us, having guidelines and boundaries doesn’t take away our freedom,” Polonsky told The Post. Jacobson said even though the fashion label is controversial, he believes it is ultimately positive for the Jewish community. “I love the idea that people are attempting to bridge the two worlds. To show that traditional Judaism is very much with the times, can be very cool, can be very hip, can be very fashionable and beautiful,” Jacobson told The Post. Designers and fashionistas gather for Dubai modest fashion event

06:12
(29 Mar 2018) LEAD IN: Designers and fashionistas are gathering in Dubai for the first ever Pret-A-Cover Buyers Lane modest fashion event. It comes as the global fashion industry slowly wakes to the potential of modest fashions. STORY-LINE: Under Dubai's towering Burj Khalifa, Pret-A-Cover Buyers Lane fashion event is in full swing. But this week-long fashion event doesn't feature scantily-clad models or skin-baring designs. Instead, around 30 modest fashion designers - some Muslim, some not - from almost two dozen countries are showcasing their long-sleeved, floor-length pieces Buyers can touch and feel the collections up-close, at City Walk, one of Dubai's newest shopping districts. "The idea was to showcase variety," explains Alia Khan, chairwoman of Islamic Fashion and Design Council. "Modest fashion comes in so many different ways and I think people tend to pigeon hole it and they tend to stereotype it into a certain type that they have in their mind and it's not. "And I think this event really conveys that." Modest clothing is still very much a niche market in terms of the global fashion industry. But already some mainstream designers and retailers are making attempts to tap into the estimated $2.6 trillion USD Muslim lifestyle market. Sisters Rama and Nazek Jandali are enthusiastic about the growing choice in modest fashion lines and brands. "I'm a big fashion of modest fashion, especially that Ramadan is coming up and we have to dress in a certain way to go with the month," says Rama. "Because you have to wear decent clothes and everything." Last month, U.S. department store chain Macy's launched its own modest clothing line, targeting Muslim fashionistas. The new line, only available online for now, includes ruffled high-neck tunics, flowing jumpsuits and bell-sleeve, ankle-length cardigans. Shahd Alasaly, the founder of 'Blue meets Blue,' a Chicago-based modest fashion brand, welcomes the move. "I think retailers are now realising that the Muslim market is huge in America and that it needs to be represented more," she says. Khan believes modest styles are slowly becoming a major part of the global fashion landscape. "It's a $322 billion-dollar spending power, as of 2018," she says. "So, they said if it was a country, it'd be number three after China and America as a huge economy. So, that speaks a lot to the modest lifestyle." Vivy Yusof, co-founder of Fashion Valet, a Malaysia-based e-commerce boutique, claims her company has experienced 100 percent annual growth, since launching in 2010. "I think it's really funny that now modest fashion is booming so much, because that's how we've been dressing for ages," she says. "I think with the rise of social media and the rise of YouTubers, suddenly there's more attention on modest fashion, which is amazing." But it's not only about looking good. British-Egyptian entrepreneur Yasmin Sobeih says she created her modest-focused activewear brand 'Under-Rapt' after seeing a gap in the market. "If I can then inspire through my products, Muslim women to participate more in sportswear, then they have the sportswear clothes to participate," she says. "So, it's creating a lifestyle, rather than just a fashion brand." Pret-A-Cover Buyers Lane modest fashion event runs 28 March -2 April at Dubai's City Walk.
