15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

Presenting a new collection and raising funds for Mahaica Children's Home, in Shonetta’s home country, Guyana. As a fashion designer and business owner, Shonetta has always wanted to give back, especially to kids; the precious and innocent among us. Seeing smiles on the faces of children gives her joy. As a child, her mother taught her to always give as little as it may be because someone will appreciate it. She always saw her mother welcoming strangers with food, clothing, or shelter. Her brothers and sisters grew up with the same love and kindness. They were not rich, but they were always committed to doing what they could to help others. Nice to meet you, I’m Heidi. I teach fashion designers like you the real world skills you *actually* need to learn to succeed in this cutthroat industry. (You know, all the stuff you don’t learn at fashion school.) I’ve worked as a contract designer for over a decade and run SuccessfulFashionDesigner.com. I’ve been able to make a healthy living doing work I love in fashion. But I got started just like you, one step at a time. It began with some embarrassing hand sewn dresses and fashion sketches that would make a 3-year-old’s artwork look like a masterpiece. Then, things changed. I learned how design was done on a large scale. I learned how to get things into production. And I learned all the skills I wish I knew when I was first starting out. Now, I dedicate most of my time teaching you all of that. This content is hard to find anywhere else (because in fashion, people keep secrets), so I decided to create it...and give most of it away for free. Want more than what you find on YouTube? AWESOME CLOTHING HACKS It's high time to upgrade your wardrobe for summer season! And I've got plenty of super stylish and unique handmade clothes design ideas you'll be yearning to try asap! If you accidentally splashed some paint on your denim jacket and thought it was over, I'll prove you wrong and demonstrate an awesome way to revive your favorite jacket and turn it into perfect summer outfit! So grab your scissors, threads and needle and let's get to work! I'll also show you numerous ways to transform your old T-shirts into unique skirt or dress dress! You can make little straps at the bottom of the T-shirt, tie them in cute knots and easily turn sleeves into pockets. You can turn your plain jeans into sassy ripped ones, all you need to have is pair of scissors and tweezers for decoration. If you like adding holes to your clothes like I do, you can make heart-shaped open back in your dress or T-shirt, which is especially comfy during summer time! You can also make stylish holey leggins and super cute lace pockets for your denim shorts. Guess what, you can even make breathable sneakers, just grab the scissors and...you already know what to do! ; ) Every time I get the chance to transform my clothes and be a designer at least for an evening I use it! So grab your scissors and let's get creative together. We can make awesome new collar on your boring T-shirt. Take out a thread which connects your collar to the T-shirt. Cut this collar strap in half. Then sew it with machine. Now you've got a double collar. I wanna share with you awesome way to make bow sleeves. First turn your T-shirt inside out. Cut the edge of the sleeves and the bottom line of the T-shirt. Cut out 2 little straps from the bottom line and make cute bows on the sleeves. Put them together using some hot glue gun. He harnesses the power of the universe to design clothes
To create his signature designs, Sid Neigum draws on something that exists absolutely everywhere in nature: the golden ratio. »Subscribe to CBC Arts to watch more videos: http://bit.ly/CBCArtsSubscribe Designer Sid Neigum laughs as he casually explains the "golden proportion" or "golden section" or "golden ratio" that deeply informs the garments he designs. It's not an easy principle to grasp - there are a lot of ways to demonstrate it, but the golden ratio essentially describes the proportion (some call it divine) that we can see in everything from our own bodies to geometric shapes. In the video below by filmmakers Istoica, Neigum plots the golden ratio out for you. Looks simple, right? But there has been conversation for centuries about how our ideas of beauty — even our idea of peacefulness — can be shaped by seeing the golden ratio in the world around us. For Neigum, the mathematic equation that's been around at least since the 3rd century BC helps him to make his designs cohesive, satisfying and symmetrical. He says: "I was just naturally into math and science — I think that'll always be a throughline through every collection because it sort of ties it all together." If you're the sort of person who likes watching Project Runway for those moments in the studio when the designers are, well, designing, watching Neigum work is like being in fashion nerd heaven. So take a moment and be lulled into a trance by Neigum and his mastery of the golden section as he creates the garments he showed at Toronto Fashion Week earlier this year. This Designer’s Clothes are Changing Lives in Africa
As the founder and creative designer of the luxury fashion line Obakki and its philanthropic counterpart, the Obakki Foundation, Treana Peake fuses her lifelong passions together to change lives. “I grew up in a really small town, living in a one-bedroom house with my grandma, my grandpa, my mom. My upbringing was quite humble, some might even say on the verge of North American poverty. Every year, around the same time, this white envelope of money would slip under our front door, and it was unmarked, there was never a note or an explanation, or a name or an address or anything attached to it. It was just a plain white envelope of money. And that money, I realized, was to help me and my mom through the year. As the years went by, that envelope kept coming. It wasn't because somebody wanted any thanks, or recognition or praise back in return, they just did it because they wanted to help. The white envelope itself made me realize the type of person that I wanted to become. It made me want to make an impact in the lives of others to [how] that person made an impact in mine.” At age 17, she started her first charitable foundation, ICA Canada, working with orphanages in Romania and Africa. “I'm the type of person that dives in and isn't afraid to dive in. And I don't even think through the hundred steps I need to do to get somewhere. I just dive in and go, okay, what's my first step. It’s a great part of my personality, but also gets me in a little bit of trouble sometimes. When you first start out your charity, the biggest thing is just finding your direction.... I'll tell you once you get there, and once you start it, there's no turning back.” Treana started a career in fashion in 2005 when she launched Obakki. As the fashion company grew and drew recognition, Treana recognized that it could be a good platform to draw attention and awareness to her philanthropic efforts on the other side of the world. “I was surprised at how big the fashion line became in terms of reputation or image. It made me realize that people tend to pay more attention to fashion designers, musicians, artists or people in the creative world.” Peake’s leadership in fashion through her luxury brand Obakki has also received widespread acclaim through international publications such as Vogue UK and Elle, and her designs have been spotted on celebrity devotees such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson. In 2009, Treana created the Obakki Foundation. It is a registered charity that focuses on providing clean water and education in Africa. “We have been able to drill or rehabilitate almost 2000 water wells, resulting in 2.5 million people having access to clean water....It's put children in school, it's allowed women opportunities to explore economic initiatives, it's transformed villages. We've done 12 schools, multiple agricultural projects, built medical centers, help to relocate internally displaced people within their own country, and with the United Nations work in refugee camps.” Treana feels like they are just getting started. “There is just so much more we can do. I have to get up every morning with a heart that's full with that passion. And that determination and that drive and I have to see purpose in it....I'm not just thinking about a T-shirt, I'm thinking about lives that will change because of that T-shirt.” ABOUT TRUE CALLING: Our philosophy is simple: love what you do. Designers and fashionistas gather for Dubai modest fashion event
(29 Mar 2018) LEAD IN: Designers and fashionistas are gathering in Dubai for the first ever Pret-A-Cover Buyers Lane modest fashion event. It comes as the global fashion industry slowly wakes to the potential of modest fashions. STORY-LINE: Under Dubai's towering Burj Khalifa, Pret-A-Cover Buyers Lane fashion event is in full swing. But this week-long fashion event doesn't feature scantily-clad models or skin-baring designs. Instead, around 30 modest fashion designers - some Muslim, some not - from almost two dozen countries are showcasing their long-sleeved, floor-length pieces Buyers can touch and feel the collections up-close, at City Walk, one of Dubai's newest shopping districts. "The idea was to showcase variety," explains Alia Khan, chairwoman of Islamic Fashion and Design Council. "Modest fashion comes in so many different ways and I think people tend to pigeon hole it and they tend to stereotype it into a certain type that they have in their mind and it's not. "And I think this event really conveys that." Modest clothing is still very much a niche market in terms of the global fashion industry. But already some mainstream designers and retailers are making attempts to tap into the estimated $2.6 trillion USD Muslim lifestyle market. Sisters Rama and Nazek Jandali are enthusiastic about the growing choice in modest fashion lines and brands. "I'm a big fashion of modest fashion, especially that Ramadan is coming up and we have to dress in a certain way to go with the month," says Rama. "Because you have to wear decent clothes and everything." Last month, U.S. department store chain Macy's launched its own modest clothing line, targeting Muslim fashionistas. The new line, only available online for now, includes ruffled high-neck tunics, flowing jumpsuits and bell-sleeve, ankle-length cardigans. Shahd Alasaly, the founder of 'Blue meets Blue,' a Chicago-based modest fashion brand, welcomes the move. "I think retailers are now realising that the Muslim market is huge in America and that it needs to be represented more," she says. Khan believes modest styles are slowly becoming a major part of the global fashion landscape. "It's a $322 billion-dollar spending power, as of 2018," she says. "So, they said if it was a country, it'd be number three after China and America as a huge economy. So, that speaks a lot to the modest lifestyle." Vivy Yusof, co-founder of Fashion Valet, a Malaysia-based e-commerce boutique, claims her company has experienced 100 percent annual growth, since launching in 2010. "I think it's really funny that now modest fashion is booming so much, because that's how we've been dressing for ages," she says. "I think with the rise of social media and the rise of YouTubers, suddenly there's more attention on modest fashion, which is amazing." But it's not only about looking good. British-Egyptian entrepreneur Yasmin Sobeih says she created her modest-focused activewear brand 'Under-Rapt' after seeing a gap in the market. "If I can then inspire through my products, Muslim women to participate more in sportswear, then they have the sportswear clothes to participate," she says. "So, it's creating a lifestyle, rather than just a fashion brand." Pret-A-Cover Buyers Lane modest fashion event runs 28 March -2 April at Dubai's City Walk. This female designer changed Korean fashion forever | Full Documentary 'Nora Noh'
SUBSCRIBE to our channel for more full movies and clips: http://bit.ly/ytasncrsh About Nora Noh: Nora Noh is 84 and she is still wearing false eyelashes. The first fashion designer in South Korea and the undisputed Coco Chanel of South Korean fashion has been at the top of her game for 60 years. Her lifetime has coincided with sweeping westernization of South Korean culture and the emancipation of the country’s women. She even owes her first name to Nora, the headstrong heroine of the Norwegian play A Doll’s House. Noh has also garnered international acclaim, and her elegant creations have graced the covers of Bazaar and Vogue. So the time is ripe for a retrospective, and how could it take any other form than a fashion show? Assisted by the passionate young stylist Seu Eun-young, Noh starts preparing, but the collaboration doesn’t go very smoothly to say the least. Fluidly edited pieces of archive footage from South Korea of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s are intercut with interviews with former customers, film stars and fashion experts talking about what Noh’s clothing meant to them. Noh has always designed expressly for working women. “Her clothes felt comfortable and liberating,” explains one of her admirers. Noh herself speaks in voice-over about her failed teenage marriage and the long career that followed. Reconstructions of key scenes from Noh’s life reveal an independent spirit that was unusual for the time. Meanwhile, the day of the show is fast approaching.
