Nigeria Fashion: Designer Clothes from the Second-Hand market

05:08
► Subscribe to BattaBox on YouTube: http://goo.gl/4dgy2r Nigeria Fashion: Where's the biggest place to buy designer brands in Nigeria? - the Second-Hand clothes market! "We have London clothes, Korea, Chinese, we have TM, Calvin Klein - everything is there!" says Mrs Muritado, a local trader in Yaba market, who explains how they used to even find dollars, gold, sterling and more in the clothes! But you have to push and hustle through the crowds to get the clothes you want - check out our video from one of the largest and most popular clothes markets in Yaba here: Nigeria Fashion: Designer Clothes from the Second-Hand market The Second-Hand clothes = otherwise known as 'Okrika' are imported from abroad in large bails which are bought by the marketers and then 'unwrapped' and sold in the market. Often no one including the traders know what clothes will be inside - sometimes, something cheap, sometimes a designer suit! "I come here because I learned you can get things cheaper," says Mrs Katherine, a customer who has to push to get her clothes. "Sometimes I have to find a place to sit down because it's so crowded!" When asked what sells most in the market, Mrs Obiageli explains "Children trousers, polo's, shirts, men and ladies trousers, bags, shoes, ladies shoes, belts and many other things." Most people prefer to buy their cloths in the local market because it's affordable - even your designer clothes can be cheap: "The prices of the cloths depends on the quality and the grade," says Mrs Obiageli, who sells children and adult cloths. But it's not easy for the marketers: "I face a lot of challenges, depending on the custom officer handling our goods when bringing it down from Coton because they say Okrika is contraband and is illegal. At times our goods has been impounded and never returned to us." explains Mrs Muritado. "These Agbero people [market touts or Area Boys] fight us, disturb us before we can even give them money - so we have many challenges," says Mrs Obiageli. **** CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE FOR NEW BATTABOX VIDEOS EVERYDAY: http://goo.gl/vJfFY ... Pakistani Designers And Pakistan Designers Clothes

00:45
Click Here: http://www.nkcollection.net Pakistani Designers Pakistan Designers Clothes The term Pakistani designers clothes refers to the ethnic clothing that is typically worn by individuals in the country of Pakistan and by the People of Pakistani descent. Pakistani designers clothes express the Culture of Pakistan, the Demographics of Pakistan and regional Cultures which include Punjabi culture, Sindhi culture, Balochi culture, Pashtun culture and Kashmiri culture. Dress in each regional culture reflect weather conditions, way of living and distinctive style which gives it a unique identity among all cultures. Pakistani dressing has similarities with Indian dressing because of pre-partition culture which was shared by these nations for thousand years but the religious factor was always there which makes a difference. Traditional Pakistani dressing also shares similarities between the ethnic groups of central Asia and ethnicities of the Iranian plateau such as the Turkic ethnic groups (i.e. Khazakhs, Uzbeks, Turkmens) and Iranic ethnic groups (Tajiks, Khorasani Persians and Pashtoons), that have been separate from the cultures of modern day Pakistan during the Durand agreement between Afghanistan and the British raj. With the passage of time Pakistanis are adapting modern dress and cultural clothing, especially in big countries.

Cate Blanchett and Blake Lively on Milan Fashion Week

02:50
Actors and designers attend a fashion event in a Milanese villa, with many of the stars, including actress Cate Blanchet, praising the style in Italy's fashion capital. Full story: Stars turned out in force on Thursday to attend a fashion event in the Italian city of Milan, where fashion designers, editors and Hollywood stars all came to celebrate the art of fashion. Among those attending the event was Australian actress Cate Blanchett, who had just arrived in the Italian fashion capital. Speaking about the style in Milan, the Golden Globe award winning actress said the city is home to the craft of fashion. [Cate Blanchett, Actress]: "I think there's so many old houses here, it's sort of where the craft exists. I mean obviously Paris and London and New York have their own identity, but you know it's a real nexus it's where, you know it feels very, the craft is very ancient here." With Milan Fashion Week in full swing, luxury Italian labels Gucci, Prada and Fendi have all showcased their collections for spring/summer 2014. Gossip Girl actress, Blake Lively, also attended Thursday's evening event wearing a Gucci outfit from the label's new collection. When asked about Milan style, Lively said the city is the 'birthplace' of fashion. [Blake Lively, Actress]: "When you think of Milan, I mean you think of where so many of the most important fashion houses of all time are from, so it really feels like one of the main birthplaces of fashion, and we street style in New York and this that. But you tip your hat to Milan." Supermodel Bianca Balti and British model David Gandy also attended the event. The model pair also front glamorous Italian label Dolce and Gabbana's Light Blue campaign. Gandy's career started in Milan, and he described the fashion in Milan as 'stunning'. The bi-annual fashion event follows hot off the heels of London Fashion Week. London is known for its edgy and more creative designs. But Milan is famed for the presence of luxury Italian fashion houses like Versace and Armani. Franca Sozzani, editor of Italian Vogue, praised the talent in Italy, and said the country is the true home to all things fashion. [Franca Sozzani, Editor, Italian Vogue]: "Fashion is in Italy, because we have quality, we have taste, we have the most beautiful brands in the world, and so I'm very happy." Vogue Italia and P&G Prestige were the organizers of the soiree, which also marked the opening of an exhibition entitled 'Beauty in Wonderland'. The exhibition which includes a number of installations of handcrafted paper dresses will be open to the public on Friday (September 20). Etro, Emporio Armani and Versace will all be unveiling their collections for next year's spring/summer on Friday. Nigeria's Next Top Designer TEASER

01:07
Nigeria's Next Top Designer is an initiative of Africa fashion week London, Ebony Worths and Mahogany productions, a United Kingdom production company which has been organising and producing events for over 15 years. The growing of fad and attraction for African inspired designs globally and the level of creativity displayed by Nigerian designers at the 2012 edition of AFWL, provides ample inspiration for the emergence of Nigeria's Next Top Designer, NNTD. It is a talent hunt show, aimed at promoting African inspired designs from Nigeria and fostering the promotion and development of aspiring Nigerian designers on the world stage. A magnificent platform for emerging designers, it is a talent hunt show of a special kind, aimed at bringing together various fashion designers from across the country to showcase the richness of the Nigerian fashion Culture and fabrics. The project will provide overall management for the distinguished designers, help them develop their skills through our various workshops and trainings. NNTD will instill pride in Nigerian fashion designs, promote the creativity of our talented designers, and celebrate the diversity of the Nigerian fashion culture and its collective contribution to the fashion industry. It will pave the way for the expansion of Nigerian designers into the global fashion industry, through our international partners. After eons of deliberating and pondering on how to go about the project, a branded vision has now been conceptualized. The global fashion market has seen a remarkable growth in African inspired designs. Looking around us today, majority of mainstream designers have adopted the new African urban look in their designs. Common and well known designs include the popular Ankara used mostly by Nigerians, which is now finely crafted in unique and jaw dropping styles. In this ever growing attraction for African inspired designs, Nigeria's Next Top Designer arrives on the scene. NNTD will be a reality show which will include an audition for designers across the country. The competition will be open to aspiring, emerging, existing and new designers. It will be a cutting-edge competition that aims to find the best emerging designer in Nigeria. Participants will include fashion designers, textile designers, accessory designers, footwear and handbag designers, jewellers and milliners. There will be designers representing the cultural fashion scene from all parts of Nigeria. A pool of 1000 new/emerging designers will be auditioned across the country. They will then be whittled down to 36 eventually by a panel of judges made up of fashion experts. The successful applicants will take part in various tasks to display their creativity. They will be groomed and mentored by our in house guest judges. First the emerging designers will work in groups under the supervision of mentors and then as individuals to display their creativity in making fashion items. They will then be trained on how to turn their creative ideas into self sustenance. The winner gets an all expense paid trip to UK for the African Fashion Week London AFWL 2014, goes home with a cash prize, equipment and a workshop and showroom space at the AFWL concession store for one year. Their collections will also be shown at African Fashion Week Nigeria AFWN 2013. There will be a lot of public and audience involvement. Viewers will be allowed to comment but the final winners will be chosen by the judges. At the heart of NNTD is the willingness to showcase the works of Nigerian designers to an international audience and also to work with them to build sustainable brands. We will be looking for creative and unique talent that lives and breathes fashion to become the NNTD. There will be a minimum entry criteria and those who do not meet them will not be considered.

Fashion Expert Manish Arora Chat with Style Mynt

03:54
Manish Arora is the first and only Indian designer who has completed 14 shows in Paris in the last 7 years. The idea behind his work is that person wearing his clothes must have smile on the face, as he believe that life is beautiful and he designs clothes with this idea in his mind. According to him look good begins with feeling good and if one's feels good then it easy to convince people that one's look good. Wearing dresses to impress people is a fashion blunder according to him and one should dress in which he or she believes in. he was told by international media that he could use yellow, blue, green, orange pink all in a one garment that might still look mincing. He was taken seriously by the International media. He rose to popularity with his brilliant colour combinations and the way in which he uses Indian craftsmanship and techniques. According to him collaboration is the best way to reach people who may just not be in fashion and for him it started with Reebok, Swatch to Nivea, Nespresso or Portico bed sheets or Amrapali jewelry. All these inspire him to move ahead with many more collaborations in the future. Circus was his third or fourth shows in Paris which put him on everybody's websites and magazines because of the carrusel dress that moves and rotates and this dress was chosen by Katy Perry and she wore it for MTV Awards. He received lot of help from Myntra because it is the most well connected fashion website in the country. So with their help and with Biba joint venture he thinks he is going to reach Indian in every nook and corner of the country. Subscribe to Arirang Korean! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=arirangkorean Logan, the No. 1 fashion designer sought after by actresses Until not too long ago, actresses sought out gowns and dresses made by famous foreign design labels whenever there was a special event such as a film festival or an award ceremony. But now, they go straight to a Korean-born fashion designer, Logan. After working as a chief designer at an haute couture house in France, Logan returned to his home country and launched a fashion brand called, 'MAG & LOGAN,' with his wife, Mag. In just five years, they gained fame for not only their ready-to-wear collection but also the custom-made gowns and dresses they make for celebrities. So, how did his dresses become so high in demand among top celebrities? He began by calling celebrity stylists, inviting them to the shop to take a look at the dresses because he was confident that they'd be impressed. After all, he gave up his successful career in France to come to Korea and create his very own haute couture line. It's his dream to show the world the excellence of Korean fashion designers and clothes makers and establish his own shop on streets that are lined with luxury brand stores. Fashion designer Logan has never given up while exploring new territory with his unique design philosophy. Join us on The INNERview and hear his love story, long-cherished dreams and behind-the-scene stories.

Pakistani clothes express the Culture of Pakistan, the Demographics of Pakistan and regional Cultures which include Punjabi culture, Sindhi culture, Balochi culture, Pashtun culture and Kashmiri culture. Manila: the Melting Pot - life

05:05
It seems that almost every day a new skyscraper is sprouting up. euronews, the most watched news channel in Europe Subscribe for your daily dose of international news, curated and explained:http://eurone.ws/10ZCK4a Euronews is available in 12 other languages: http://eurone.ws/17moBCU With its population of nearly 12 million, Manila is among the top 10 largest cities in the world, along with Shenzhen and Istanbul. It is one of the fastest growing metropolis on the planet, with ultra-modern business centres springing up on every street corner. "Manila's skyline is varied, it's a multifaceted skyline. Manila is a metropolis, which originates at the place where the Pasig river goes into Manila bay. That's where you have the old city. Manila grew from there. It's a radiant city," says architect Dominic Galicia. A growing number of people are moving to the capital from rural areas to try their luck. This colourful and bustling city has a very young population - the average age is 23. A new generation of creative minds is leaving its mark on the cityscape. Among them is fashion designer Oliver Tolentino. He is always on the move but returns frequently to Manila, seeking fresh inspiration. He is a strong believer in eco-couture: the materials he uses, such as pineapple fiber and water-lily leaves, all come from the Philippines. "I grew up in the region with all the tropical flowers, the beautiful scenery, the beautiful beaches. I show a very colourful collection where you can see the tradition, the heritage of being a Filipino," says the designer. Oliver Tolentino sees himself as an ambassador of eco-friendly fashion made in the Philippines and has many fans in Hollywood. "I consider myself as part of a new generation and I really want to serve as an inspiration for the future designers here, in the Philippines," he told us. Like him, many Filipinos take pride in promoting their country abroad. Manila has also caught the interest of a growing number of foreign investors. The Philippines now ranks as one of the world's most promising newly-industrialised countries with strong performances in the electronics and service sectors. But it is not just about numbers. Factfile: Republic of the Philippines General * Population (Asian Development Bank, 2012): 95.77 million * Capital: Manila * Area: 300,000 sq km * Head of state: President: Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III * Major languages: Filipino, English * Major ethnic groups (NCIP): Cordillera People or Igorot, Caraballo Tribes, Agta/Aeta or Negrito, the Mangyan of Mindoro, the Palawan hilltribes, Mindanao Lumad * Major religions: Catholic, Muslim Economy * GDP (2011, World Bank): USD 224.8 billion * GDP growth (ADB, 2013-14 projection): 6.0% (2013), 5.9% (2014) * GDP per capita (2011): USD 2,370 * Unemployment rate (ADB, 2012): 7.0% * Income categorisation (World Bank): Lower middle income country * Doing Business 2013: Rank 138 "Foreign investors, when they take a decision to invest, look at a number of things: how hospitable is the environment, for example. Having lived in the Philippines for more than 15 years, I can say that this is a very hospitable country. Secondly, the human resources in the Philippines: companies will have access to a large pool of excellent English-speaking workers. That's another big advantage of this country," said Asian Development Bank country director, Neeraj K Jain. Its rich history has provided the country with a unique cultural heritage. For 300 years, the Philippines belonged to the Spanish crown - many vestiges are still visible in the old city or Intramuros. After the Spanish reign, a new country took over: the United States. After World War II, the Americans left behind their military jeeps. Locals found a way of recycling them, by stripping them down and altering them in order to accommodate more passengers. Metal roofs and vibrant colours were added, and the jeepney was born. To this day, it remains the most popular and the cheapest means of transport in the Philippines. Ed Sarao has a special relationship to the Jeepney. His father founded the legendary Sarao Motors brand. Up to this day, his vehicles are handmade, with much attention to detail. "No two Jeepneys are alike if you look at the streets of Manila. It's like a tailor-made suit. You can ask for anything you want to be thrown in. It's public transportation, it's also a pop culture icon for Filipinos," explained Ed Sarao, co-owner of Sarao Motors Inc.
