Young Man Catches Woman Falling from 11th floor with Bare Hands

02:01
A young man caught a woman falling from a building's 11th floor with bare hands on Wednesday in Enshi City in central China's Hubei Province. The surveillance video footage showed Feng Ning running in front of the building at around 21:45. He kept changing his position while looking up to the building; seconds later, the woman fell right into his arms. Due to the huge impact, Feng was immediately knocked down on the ground and was carried to one side of the street by the locals. Feng said he was walking out of a restaurant when he heard someone crying for help from the nearby residential building. He then saw a woman hanging from the 11th floor window. "I ran to the building, but she had already fallen before I could reach the entrance. So I got ready to catch her instead. I don't know what happened next," said Feng. "There was a loud noise, as if it was an earthquake. Then I heard the young man screaming in pain," said a local witness. "The young man cried and cried while sweating badly. He looked as if he was in a great pain," said another witness. Feng was sent to the hospital, but the woman did not survive unfortunately. "Feng suffered injuries on his knee joints, and had a tibial plateau fracture. His anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments and the medial ligament have been dislocated," said Li Yanbing, doctor of spinal surgery department, Enshi Central Hospital. Feng joined the army as a college student in 2013. He retired in September after full service. He said his first reaction was saving the woman's life without considering whether he would be injured. "I don't regret. It's a shame that I couldn't save her," said Feng. Usain Bolt Receives Gift from Cameraman Who Crashed into Him

02:11
Sprinter Usain Bolt, who triumphed in the men's 200m at 2015 IAAF World Championships, received a gift on Friday from the Chinese cameramen who accidentally crashed into the runner following Thursday's race in Beijing. Bolt was knocked over by the cameraman on an electric scooter when he was celebrating completing the World Championship sprint double on Thursday evening. “I was following Bolt and staring at the camera lens' viewfinder. So I didn’t notice there was a track there for another camera. The self-balancing scooter lost balance and turned over after its left wheel rolled on the track. The first thing I saw first was that the scooter hit Bolt,” recalled Song Tao, the cameraman. Song sent a red bracelet, a good-luck charm, to Bolt and placed it on the champion’s wrist by way of apology after the award ceremony on Friday night. The world champion said at a news briefing afterwards that he was not hurt in the bizarre accident, even making a joke out of it. “He said sorry as much as he could. But I checked to make sure if he was okay because I think he got the worst of it because he was off-balance falling backwards. I'm not sure if he hit his head but I'm just happy that he's okay. I'm fine so it's all fun,” he said. “The rumor I'm trying to start right now is that Justin Gatlin paid him off, so that's what I'm going with. But I'm all right so it's all good." Song returned to work at the championships on Friday, saying he was also uninjured. “My first thought was that, no matter what, please do not let Bolt be injured due to this. I was worried and did not feel relieved until the news briefing was over, when he said he was alright,”Song said. Some Internet users joked that the cameraman was the only man capable of taking down Bolt, who has won all but one world and Olympic individual sprint titles since 2008. China's Shenzhou-11 Spacecraft Succeeds in Docking with Tiangong-2 Space Lab

01:56
China's Shenzhou-11 manned spacecraft succeeded in docking with the Tiangong-2 space lab through a remote-controlled automatic operation early Wednesday, according to the Beijing Aerospace Control Center. After the successful docking, two male astronauts, 49-year-old Jing Haipeng and 37-year-old Chen Dong, will enter the space lab and begin their month-long stay there, during which they will conduct a series of experiments. Jing, commander of Shenzhou-11, will spend his 50th birthday in space during the 30-day mission and break the age record for Chinese astronauts in service. The mission is Jing's third spaceflight following his 68-hour Shenzhou-7 mission in 2008 and 13-day Shenzhou-9 mission in 2012, making him the first Chinese astronaut to enter space three times and setting the record for the most hours spent in space by a Chinese astronaut. His companion, Chen, with a safe flight record of 1,500 hours as an air force pilot, was named as one of China's second generation of astronauts in May 2010 and selected as a crew member for the Shenzhou-11 mission in June 2016. Shenzhou-11, China's sixth manned spacecraft, was sent into space Monday aboard a Long March-2F Y11 carrier rocket. Tiangong-2 was launched on Sept. 15 and had arrived at its defined orbit, about 393 kilometers above Earth, ahead of its rendezvous with Shenzhou-11. This will be the height at which the future Chinese space station will operate. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20161019/8034664.shtml#!language=1 Background Music: Positive Outlook by Diavid Hoffner Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus

Image of Destroyed Bamiyan Buddhist Statue Recovered by Chinese with Lighting Technology

01:55
The glorious image of the 6th-century Bamiyan Buddhist statue, destroyed 14 years ago by the Taliban, was recovered by a Chinese couple on June 6 and 7 with lighting technology in Afghanistan. Zhang Xinyu and his wife Liang Hong are adventure enthusiasts from China. On the two nights, they used projections to bring back the buddhas' images for eight hours. Local people were very excited about this event. They sang and danced for the historic moment. "It's a very historic moment for us, and I think the moment somehow reminds us of the revival of our history, something that was destroyed during the Taliban time. And we were very unhappy about that. This cannot fill the empty place of [the buddhas], but it's something that reminds us that it is not dead."said Javad ,a Bamiyan person. To avoide any possible affect to the relics, they used metal halogen lamps, and added a quartz glass mask to the light source. The couple finally voluntary donated the lighting equipment to local department of cultural relics protection, which thus decided to reproduce the images in March every year in the future. The Bamiyan Buddhas were two 6th-century monumental statues of standing Buddhas carved into the side of a cliff in the Bamiyan valley in the Hazarajat region of central Afghanistan, 230 km northwest of Kabul. Built in 507 AD (the smaller one) and 554 AD (the larger one), respectively, the statues represented the classic and blended style of Gandhara art. They were destroyed with dynamites in March 2001 by the Taliban, on orders from their leader Mullah Mohammed Omar. "Although it is just a piece of light, it can shine into Bamiyan and light up the Buddhas. I think it can at least tell people that once there exited a beautiful place, there exited profound culture and long history. We hope the use of lighting technology can show our respect to the culture and history," said Liang Hong. China-made Large Amphibious Aircraft Completes First Water Takeoff

01:38
China's independently-developed large amphibious aircraft AG600 completed its first water takeoff and landing in Jingmen city in central province of Hubei Saturday morning. The AG600, codenamed Kunlong, is designed to be the world's largest amphibious aircraft. It completed its maiden flight in December 2017. The AG600 is powered by four domestically built turboprop engines and has a range of 12 hours. It will be mainly used for maritime rescue, fighting forest fires and marine monitoring. It can carry 50 people during search-and-rescue missions, collect 12 tonnes of water in 20 seconds for firefighting and transport up to 370 tonnes of water on a single tank of fuel. Its name "Kunlong" represents high expectation in Chinese culture, with the "kun" meaning an enormous legendary fish and "long" a dragon. The AG600 is the third member of China's "large aircraft family" following the large freighter Y-20 and large passenger aircraft C919, which made maiden flights in 2013 and 2017, respectively. Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday sent congratulatory messages on the successful water takeoff and landing of the AG600. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181020/8093605.shtml#!language=1 Welcome to subscribe us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cctvnewscontent/ Video on Demand: www.cctvplus.com If you are in demand of this video footage, please contact with our business development team via email: [email protected]

China's Chang'e-4 Probe Changes Orbit to Prepare for Moon Landing

02:15
China's Chang'e-4 probe entered a planned orbit Sunday morning to prepare for the first-ever soft landing on the far side of the moon, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced. The probe has entered an elliptical lunar orbit with the perilune at about 15 kilometers and the apolune at about 100 kilometers at 08:55, Beijing Time, said CNSA. Since the Chang'e-4 entered the lunar orbit on Dec. 12, the ground control center in Beijing has trimmed the probe's orbit twice, and tested the communication link between the probe and the relay satellite Queqiao, or Magpie Bridge, which is operating in the halo orbit around the second Lagrangian (L2) point of the earth-moon system. The space engineers also checked the imaging instruments and ranging detectors on the probe to prepare for the landing. The control center will choose a proper time to land the probe on the far side of the moon, according to CNSA. The Chang'e-4 probe, including a lander and a rover, was launched by a Long March-3B carrier rocket on Dec. 8 from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181230/8099366.shtml#!language=1 Welcome to subscribe us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cctvnewscontent/ Video on Demand: www.cctvplus.com If you are in demand of this video footage, please contact with our business development team via email: [email protected]

China Makes Breakthrough in Artificial Sun Research

01:16
China's Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), the man-made sun, has made an important breakthrough by achieving an electron temperature of 100 million degrees Celsius in plasma and running under such a temperature for almost ten seconds, the EAST team announced on Monday. The research team said by using various heating techniques, the heating power reached 10 megawatts, the accumulation energy in plasma increased to 300 kilojoules and the electron temperature reached 100 million degrees Celsius for the first time. The EAST, with a height of 11 meters, a diameter of eight meters and a weight of 400 tons, is aimed at providing clean energy by inducing the deuterium and tritium in seawater to form nuclear fusion under high-temperature conditions. The latest research has provided experimental evidence and scientific support for the ongoing China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) project and laid a solid technical foundation for exploring and using nuclear fusion clean energy, according to the institute. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181113/8095632.shtml#!language=1 Welcome to subscribe us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cctvnewscontent/ Video on Demand: www.cctvplus.com If you are in demand of this video footage, please contact with our business development team via email: [email protected]

Victorious Chinese Women's Volleyball Team Returns to Beijing after World Cup Win

01:59
The Chinese women's volleyball team returned to Beijing on Monday after overpowering hosts Japan 3-1 to win their fourth women's volleyball World Cup title on Sunday evening. Hundreds of Chinese volleyball fans gathered at Beijing International Airport, holding a whole host of placards, banners, and flowers and cheering loudly to celebrate the arrival of the new champions. The Chinese team, led by highly-regarded coach Jenny Lang Ping, crushed a tenacious Japanese side 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22 to claim China's first World Cup crown since 2003 and first major title since 2004 when the team won Olympic gold in Athens. "Fans warmly received us. I think this is out of their deep love for the old generation of the women's volleyball team and out of the happiness to see us winning the world title after so many years. I think we fulfilled their expectations," said team member Zhu Ting. "I think (winning the title) helps us build confidence, but there is still large room for us to make improvement. We will continue to train hard and strive for even better results," added Yuan Xinyue, another winning team member. Lang and her team now have the opportunity of repeating the feat in next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. As a player, "Iron Hammer" Lang Ping led the Chinese team to the 1981 and 1985 World Cup titles. Unearthed 2,000-Year-Old Sword Still in Mint Condition

02:08
Archeologists in central China's Henan Province recently discovered an over 2,000-year-old sword that was still glittering in mint condition when being unearthed. The sword was found in a coffin which was excavated in mid-December 2016 from a tomb in the ancient Chengyang City Archaeological Site Park in today's Xinyang City of Henan. The tomb dates back to the Warring States Period (475 BC-221 BC). Archeologists then transferred the well-preserved coffin to a museum of the archaeological site and found the sword next to a human skeleton in the coffin. According to the preliminary judgments of the archeologists, the 47-cm-long sword was made of bronze and belonged to a senior official in the Warring States Period. The ancient city of Chengyang was built over 2,700 years ago. I Once Hoped that I Could Be Second Bruce Lee: Donnie Yen

01:54
I once hoped I could be the second Bruce Lee one day, said Donnie Yen in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) on Sunday. Yen, a Hong Kong star, cultivated his interest in the martial arts when he was little with the help of his mother. "My mother forced me to practice Chinese martial arts in the beginning when I started to like it. She woke up at 05:00 or 06:00, dragged me out of my bed and made me practice martial arts. I went to school after practice. I gradually found myself gifted at and adept in martial arts. You know kids. When they discover they have some talent in a certain area, they would like to spend a lot of time on it. I felt I was quite good at martial arts. I worshipped Bruce Lee then and hoped I could be the second Bruce Lee one day,” said Yen. After spending two decades in the film industry, Yen had his international breakout role in Ip Man, a movie based on the master of the Wing Chun form of martial arts and one of Bruce Lee's teachers. "I became popular after more than 20 years of acting in movies. I couldn't have achieved what I have now without this time period. Without the experience, I may have not been able to play Ip Man (the grandmaster of the Chinese martial art Wing Chun) with such a flavor. So, I always tell the media that acting in movies is to reflect characters through their life experiences,” said Yen. He made his debut at CCTV's 2016 Spring Festival Gala with a martial arts performance. Yen is a Hong Kong actor, martial artist, film director and producer. Xi Calls for Building "Great Wall of Iron" for Safeguarding Social Stability in Xinjiang

03:29
Chinese President Xi Jinping said Friday that a "great wall of iron" to safeguard national unity, ethnic solidarity and social stability should be built in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while attending a panel discussion with national lawmakers from Xinjiang at the ongoing annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC). One of the NPC deputies from Xinjiang presented to Xi photos of family of Kurban Tulum, a Uygur farmer was twice received by the late Chairman Mao Zedong. Xi once wrote to reply a letter from a daughter of Kurban Tulum, underlining ethnic solidarity and efforts to build a bright future for Xinjiang under the CPC leadership. After listening to speeches made be several Xinjiang deputies, Xi was invited to speak at the panel discussion. Xi called for safeguarding ethnic unity, and reinforcing solidarity between the military and government, soldiers and civilians, police and the people, as well as between the production and construction corps and local communities. Xinjiang is an important "security barrier" in northwest China which holds a special strategic position and faces special issues, Xi said, adding that governing the region well is of great significance. He stressed that maintaining stability in Xinjiang is a political responsibility, and that stability-related issues must be handled in a thorough, timely and proper manner. He called for efforts to make long-term strategies, strengthen the foundation, and achieve lasting peace and stability in Xinjiang. Xi said the People's Republic of China is a united multi-ethnic country, and the history of Chinese nation is a history of different ethnic groups getting united and jointly forging ahead. "As a Uygur saying goes, 'achievements lie in harmony, and strength grows out of unity'. You see, China's 56 ethnic groups, how they enjoy their living and working in peace and contentment steadily, and how harmonious they are with one another. Just now I listened to this deputy from the Xibe ethnic group talking about how they were relocated there to guard the border area centuries ago and they made home there and have produced offspring over a long period of time. Indeed we should see our correct policy on ethnic groups, and we must continue adhering to it," Xi said. Two pandas frolicked in their snow-covered enclosure as the first snow this autumn enveloped the Yabuli Ski Resort in Harbin, in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on Saturday. On Sunday morning, two pandas "Sijia" and "Youyou" rushed outside and excitedly rolled around and slid in the snow. Sijia was seen running around and around the enclosure, with ears wiggling. Feeling tired later, the fluffy and adorably clumsy panda sat down, happily enjoying a hearty serving of bamboo. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181029/8094416.shtml#!language=1 Welcome to subscribe us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cctvnewscontent/ Video on Demand: www.cctvplus.com If you are in demand of this video footage, please contact with our business development team via email: [email protected]
China's 2nd-largest Hydropower Station Wins Global Recognition

02:27
China's Jinsha River Xiluodu Hydropower Station, the second largest in the country, has received global recognition after the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) awarded the station as a FIDIC Outstanding Project of the Year last year. The station which straddles between Yongshan County of Yunnan Province and Leibo County of Sichuan Province in southwest China was the only hydroelectric project among the 21 award-winners of the year 2016. Liao Jianxin, an engineering director with the project's contractor, China Three Gorges Corporation, said the intelligent management system of the dam won the approval of the judging team. "The digital dam, in a nutshell, consists of the thermometer, strain gauge and other detecting equipment in the concrete of the dam. The whole construction process was monitored by these equipment, which gives a real-time account of the stress state and condition of the dam for the convenience of adjustment," said Liao. One of the strengths of the smart system is that it helps prevent thermal cracking, a common thermal effect on concrete, in the dam. "The 6.8 million cubic meters of concrete in the dam has no thermal cracking. As far as we know, no other dam in the world can avoid such cracking," said Liao. Built in the spirit of sustainable development, the station makes maximum use of the mountains on both sides of the river to house its workshops, underground power stations and transportation tunnels. A massive hydraulic generator set highlights the superior coordination of various different sectors of the station, said director Ran Yichuan, who demonstrated the smooth operational quality of the generator by balancing a coin upright on the ground. "The rotating part of the hydraulic generator set has a weight of over 2,000 tons. The stability of such a heavy rotating unit can be demonstrated in this experiment: As you can see, the small coin is only five meters above the rotating part, and it stands perfectly still. So the hydraulic generator set was very well installed. In more professional terms, the vibration part and throw are exquisite," said Ran. With 18 large generators and a total capacity of 13.86 gigawatts, the Xiluodu station is the world's third-largest project behind the Three Gorges Dam in central China's Hubei Province and Brazil's Itaipu hydroelectric dam. Driver Pulls over Bus Safely before Spitting Blood, Losing Consciousness

01:33
A bus driver in the city of Xiamen in southeast China's Fujian Province managed to guarantee the safety of his 20 passengers and other motorists as he safely stopped his bus before becoming violently ill and losing consciousness on the morning of July 25. Surveillance video on the bus showed that the driver, Chen Yi, stopped the bus at a road junction at around 10:00, did a handbrake and turned two flashing lights on before he collapsed on the steering wheel. Chen struggled to sit up straight when the passengers asked him what happened. He replied that he could not drive any more as he felt dizzy, and he slumped in the driver's seat. One passenger rushed to hold Chen up to prevent him from falling from the seat and called for help immediately. Chen then started to spit up blood for a few seconds after convulsing. The blood spread all over his clothes and the driver's seat. The passengers placed Chen on the floor of the bus and a nearby driver was dispatched to drive the bus to a local hospital. Chen was diagnosed with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding and hemorrhagic shock. At present, Chen is in stable condition and will receive further treatment. Women Formation Pride of China's Military Parades

01:52
Women soldiers attending the upcoming high-profile military parade on September 3 are an interesting episode of the parade for the media from home and abroad. On Saturday, more than 90 journalists from over 50 Chinese and foreign media visited Beijing's parade training base where Chinese troops are training for the parade in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the WWII victory day. A group of 62 women soldiers, with an average age of 22 and height of 175 cm, is a highlight at the training base. According to Cheng Cheng, a female guard of honor, it is the first time that both male and female soldiers are included in the guard of honor (ground forces, air forces and navy) formation. Cheng, 28-year-old, was in the 2009 National Day military parade. She said the mixed formation will increase difficulties for female soldiers. "We're the first formation and will set the stride and speed for the rest of the paraders. So we certainly bear greater pressure. Also men have a bigger stature than women, so it's difficult for us to align with them," said Cheng. To maintain a perfect quick step march, Cheng said, they have been training for more than eight hours per day since early June. Cheng said every parade soldier is required to take a 3.25-kilo rifle in the morning and afternoon training. It can only be taken off at lunchtime. Since only 51 of them will be picked finally to actually parade on Tian'anmen Square on Sept.3, all the women soldiers try their best to do well to get picked. "Our physical strength is not so good as the male soldiers. We pay a lot to overcome this problem as the set standard for us women is as high as that for men," Cheng said. 19 Buildings Demolished by Blasts at One Time in central China City

03:02
A total of 19 buildings in Wuhan's downtown area were demolished by five tons of explosives at one-time in only 10 seconds from 11:50 p.m. Saturday in central China's Hubei Province. The blast area is located in the city's downtown area which is next to a light rail viaduct, residential communities, shopping mall, transformer substation and some other infrastructure facilities. "For this kind of large-scale blasting demolition conducted in the downtown area, we not only need to guarantee the demolition result, but also strictly control the adverse effects of blasting," said Jia Yongsheng, general director of the blasting. Jia said they set more than 120,000 muzzles and prepared five tons of explosives. In order to guarantee safety, they set the collapse time by the millisecond. "The demolition effect was quite ideal. The explosion didn’t affect the light rail and public facilities around the blasted buildings. There was no damage and adverse effects of blasting," said Jia. Ho Chi Minh City Develops Rapidly with Foreign Investment

01:50
Vietnam’s southern financial hub, Ho Chi Minh City, has seen rapid and dynamic changes as the country has transformed itself from one of the poorest countries into a lower-income market. Thanks to the government’s efforts to lift red tape, foreign investment is on the rise over the years, opening up business opportunities with new buildings now dominating the skyline and big brand shops and restaurants lining the streets. The real estate services firm Jones Lang Lasalle has even ranked Ho Chi Minh City the second fastest developing city in the world. The combination of low costs, and a young, educated workforce, is creating a recipe for economic success. "There is a big change from several years ago. Most of the business activity [don’t] need the investment licenses anymore. So the foreigners who come here, they can open restaurants, they can [start] service companies, they can open shops. Before it wasn’t easy like that, but now they’re considered the same like local companies," said Thu Tran, a senior lawyer from Global Business Service. Over the last decade, Vietnam’s GDP has grown at a healthy pace, averaging between five and six percent. But with rapid development also comes challenges. Some say now is the time to put the brakes on investment coming through the city. According to Regina Lim from Advisory and Research of Capital Markets sometimes markets can get “overly exuberant” as it did in 2007 and 2008, when the market was unable to digest the inflow of investments. She also suggests that the government manage the influx of capital and the country’s pace of growth. China's Cliff Top Village Has Brighter Future after Installing Steel Stairs

02:38
The future of a village atop a cliff is looking brighter for its residents after local authorities installed steel ladders last year for a safer climb. In a remote part of southwest China's Sichuan Province, the village of Atuleer in Zhaojue County garnered fame after pictures surfaced showing the 800-meter ascent schoolchildren and the other villagers had to make to reach it. They had to risk their lives every day as they made the trek without any safety support. However, their lives changed last August, when the local government raised one million yuan to build a set of steel stairs into the face of the cliff, replacing the bamboo ladder. The stairs are wide enough for two people to pass at the same time. Residents seem optimistic about the improved transport infrastructure in changing their isolated and impoverished village. "Before, it was dangerous. Now we have the stairs, so we are all relieved, the old and the young. The journey is safer and we are confident in shaking off poverty," said a villager, who, along with the others, belongs to the Yi ethnic minority. The local government notes that many people are interested in the unique scenery and folk culture of the cliff-top village, and have already begun implementing measures to promote tourism. "This year, my goal is to have pigs, sheep and chickens. And I also plan to plant oval oranges. I will have 100 oval orange trees and I can sell them to tourists. I can earn at least 20,000 yuan a year. This is my goal after we have tourists," said another villager. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20170208/8042619.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus

China Launches Country's First Dark Matter Satellite

02:53
China on Thursday sent into space the country's first space telescope in a fresh search for smoking-gun signals of dark matter, invisible material that scientists say makes up most of the universe's mass. The Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) Satellite, nicknamed "Wukong" after the Monkey King with penetrating eyes in the Chinese classical fiction Journey to the West, was blasted off Thursday morning on a Long March 2-D rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It will enter a sun-synchronous orbit at a height of 500 kilometers to observe the direction, energy and electric charge of high-energy particles in space. From there, scientists hope the 1.9-ton desk-sized satellite could help lift the "invisible cloak" on the dark matter and shine more light on the hypothetical mass. Dark matter, which does not emit or reflect enough electromagnetic radiation to be observed directly, is one of the huge mysteries of modern science. Theorized by scientists who could not understand missing mass and strangely bent light in faraway galaxies, dark matter has become widely accepted in the physics community even though its existence has never been concretely proven. Scientists now believe only around 5 percent of the total mass-energy of the known universe are made up of ordinary matter, whereas dark matter and dark energy make up the rest. Knowing more about dark matter could hence give humanity a clearer idea about the past as well as future of galaxies and the universe, and will be revolutionary for the world of physics and space science. With the new DAMPE satellite, scientists will look for evidences of dark matter annihilation or decay. Wukong will scan the space in all directions in the first two years and focus on sections where dark matter is most likely to be observed afterward. More than 100 scientists will study the data sent back by Wukong. Initial findings are expected to be published in the second half of 2016. World First Autonomous Dental Implant Robot Put into Use in China

01:52
World first autonomous dental implant robot was put into use in a operation on Saturday in Xi'an City, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The robot was completely developed by China and adopted the ingenious mechanical space fusion positioning method, which can not only improve the accuracy of operation but integrate with 3D printing technology to achieve immediate repair of denture. Before operation, patient needs to take a CT (computed tomography) scan to acquire all the data of the patient's skull and jaw, and then the data are stored through a special marking system, so that the robot arm can identify the corresponding location precisely in the non-open space and finish the dental implant surgery. During the operation, the robot arm got into the patient's mouth following the pre-set motion path. After locating the exact position absent of tooth, the robot arm installed the implant into the cavity. It took the robot less than an hour to install two implants into the patient's cavities. "The operation ran very smoothly. The biggest advantage of the robot is high precision with a error of 0.2 to 0.3 millimeters, which is much more precise than manual operation," said Zhao Yimin, professor in the Fourth Military Medical University. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20170918/8061345.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus

China Makes Breakthrough in Nuclear Fusion Reactor Project

01:58
China has made a major breakthrough in manufacturing a crucial component for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a mega nuclear power project that is expected to be fully operational in 2027, according to Chinese physicists. China officially joined the ITER project in 2006 and was then tasked with manufacturing 10 percent of the First Wall (FW) panels, a vital component of the nuclear fusion reactor. The wall is a three-layer panel made from beryllium, high-strength copper and stainless steel. It shields the reactor’s doughnut-shaped vessel and superconducting magnets, which are used to produce strong magnetic fields keeping the plasma off the walls, from the high temperature and neutron flux generated from the heating of the fuel, a mixture of deuterium and tritium. While other scientists participating in the project were trying to fabricate qualified FW panels through conventional joining methods such as welding, Chinese physicists chose to test an innovative method that has never been used. "We encased the materials in a vacuum-sealed container, put it into hot-pressing furnace, and then injected argon into the furnace to increase pressure and temperature. The materials were bounded together under high pressure and temperature," said Yang Bo, head of the FW Workshop, Southwestern Institute of Physics. However, the vacuum-hot-pressing (VHP) method was only proved feasible after Yang’s team experienced countless experiments and failures. "Two years ago we fabricated a smaller mock-up which passed the testing. However, the defect showed after we cut it for examination," said Yang. In May 2016, the mock-up made by Yang’s team passed the ITER-FW test after surviving 7,500 cycles under designated temperatures. "Before, when we communicated with our foreign counterparts, we would always like to learn their experiences. Now the situation has changed, with many foreign scientists coming to us and learning from us," said Yang. "When we just took part in the ITER project, our technology was at least 20 years behind those of our foreign counterparts. We managed to catch up with them in 2010. Now, the fact that our technology has been approved by the ITER demonstrates that we have taken the lead in certain areas," said Chen Jiming, director of nuclear fusion study office, Southwestern Institute of Physics. The ITER is a megaproject funded and operated by eight parties including the European Union, India, Japan, China, Russia, South Korea and the United States. Nuclear fusion technology has been regarded as an efficient, eco-friendly way to generate electricity compared with conventional nuclear power generation. "Kung Fu Grandma" Practices Chinese Martial Arts for Nine Decades

01:27
Don't let Zhang Hexian's age fool you as the 94-year-old has a particular set of skills that make her a nightmare for thugs anywhere. The resident of Ninghai County in east China's Zhejiang Province has been practicing Chinese martial arts since she was four and through the years she has refined her skills with great diligence and effort to become affectionately known as "Kung Fu Grandma". Regarded as "the village of martial arts," nearly everyone in the village where Zhang lives practices kung fu. As the eighth descendant of her family, Zhang learned kung fu under her father's instruction at the age of four and has continued to practice throughout nine decades. "My dad took me to sleep at that time. When we woke up in the morning, we started practicing kung fu in bed. I learned basic martial arts skills such as pushing palm and throwing a punch at an early age," said Zhang Hexian. Practicing kung fu has become a daily routine in Zhang's life. Every morning, Zhang does kung fu exercises without feeling tired. Apparently she is in good health. "She wakes up very early and does physical exercises every morning. She usually runs around the village for morning exercise,"said Zhang's son Feng Chuanyin. Zhang recalled that she once fought against a bully when she was young. The bully was beating his wife when Zhang saw him. To uphold justice, Zhang grabbed his collar, ripped his shirt off and urged him to behave well. Apart from being a deterrent to hooligans and ruffians, Zhang is also a warm-hearted woman willing to help others, which is one of the secrets of her longevity. "She always has a good mood with a positive attitude. Helping others is also good for her health," said Feng. Chubby Siberian Tigers Hunt Electronic Bird of Prey

01:33
What happens when you combine ferocious Siberian tigers with modern technology? Bouncing, pouncing, and even a bit of trouncing. Video footage of a habitat for these rare felines in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province shows them meandering about until they catch sight of a reporter's drone used to film with a camera buzzing around. The chubby tigers played cat and mouse with the drone until a two or three-year-old tiger swiped at the camera, a large paw filling its screen before losing signal. The group proceeded to tear the drone apart, with one literally chewing on the gadget as if it was a bird of prey. Unlike a bird, the drone started to give off smoke, which scared off the surrounding tigers. Staff members of the park in a well-protected vehicle then went to pick up the remains of the drone. Don't worry. Although they seem overweight, Liu Dan, chief engineer with the Siberian Tiger Park, said they weigh within their normal range. The park increased the tigers' food intake to keep out the cold in winter. It won't be as necessary to feed them as much during spring as it is in winter. Experts predict that they will once again be lean in about two months. World's Largest Tidal Bore Forms in China's Qiantang River

02:06
Thousands of tourists gathered in Haining City of east China's Zhejiang Province to appreciate the world's largest tidal bore at the Qiantang River around the traditional Mid Autumn Festival holiday from Thursday to Saturday. The Qiantang River tidal bore is a world-renowned natural phenomenon known for its momentum and charm caused by the gravitational pull of the moon. The best time to view the tidal bore is between the 15th and 18th day of the eighth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, exactly the Mid-Autumn Festival. Due to the Typhoon Meranti and Malakas, the tidal bore this year is higher than those of previous years. The nine-meter-high and 650-meter-long Laoyancang Dam, 12 kilometers west of Guanxi Town, is a best site to view the majestic scene. Tide, galloping like horses, hits against the dam and retreats after rising in the air, creating one of the two eye-catching scenes of the tidal bore, namely "back-flow bore." The back-flow bore then hits the seawall with the water rising up to 15 meters high, which is another unique scene known as "soaring bore." Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a welcome ceremony held by Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh on Tuesday. Xi is in Riyadh for a two-day state visit to Saudi Arabia. This is the first leg of his three-nation tour of the Middle East, which will also take him to Egypt and Iran. Xi is scheduled to discuss with King Salman about lifting bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. This is the first state visit by a Chinese head of state to Saudi Arabia in seven years. He will also meet chiefs of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Saudi Arabia is China's biggest global supplier of crude oil and its biggest trading partner in West Asia and Africa. In 2013, China became the biggest trading partner of Saudi Arabia for the first time. Two-way trade reached 69.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2014, growing 230 times over that of 1990 when the two countries established diplomatic ties. Saudi Arabia is the first Arab country Xi visits as the Chinese president, and this Middle East tour comes as China and Arab countries mark 60 years in diplomatic relations in 2016. Muslims in northwest China Celebrate Eid Al-Fitr Festival

02:11
Muslims across northwest China on Wednesday celebrated their traditional Eid Al-Fitr Festival that marks the official end of the Holy month of Ramadan. In Kashi City of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, more than 30,000 Muslims gathered at the Id Kah Mosque in the morning for the last prayer of Ramadan. As a worldwide tradition, the Muslims sat shoulder by shoulder in an open area and gave their thanks to Allah. Following the prayer was the first daylight meal in a month – a ritual observed with joy after a month of austerity. Streets in Kashi were bustling once again as restaurants reopened, and the feasting began with Sama dance - a Uyghur folk dance people performed when praying for fruitful hunting and good harvest in ancient times and now also a must-do for the holiday celebration. "I've put on new clothes. Later on I'm meeting with friends and other family members," said Ishan Haji, a local resident in Kashi. "I don't feel tired at all (after dancing). It has been a great day for me," said Muhammad Nijat, another Kashi resident. In Qinghai Province -- home to nearly 1.1 million Muslims, a prayer was held at the Dongguan Great Mosque in the capital city of Xining on Wednesday morning, attended by 150,000 people. In Wuzhong City of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, another compact Muslim community, local people started celebration early Wednesday morning. Residents gathered together with their families and friends for their first daytime meal after the Ramadan. In Gansu Province, Muslims also prayed for better life and held various activities to celebrate the religious festival.
