How Good Are Your Eyes? Cool and Quick Test

08:12
How good is your eyesight? Here’s a simple eyesight test that will show how sharp your eyes are. We all know that “eyes are the windows to the soul.” Do your windows need cleaning, or are they crystal clear and give a sharp picture of the world? Take this test to find it out! There will be 4 stages, and it will get harder and harder with every stage. The first one might seem like a piece of cake (and if you’re actually seeing a piece of cake we’ve got problems), but the further we go, the more concentration it will require. In fact, only 8 % of people can pass stage 4 because it is so hard. You will have the same task for every question in all the stages. The task is to pick 1 out of 10 colors which is different from the rest. To pass each of the stages, you have to find that odd one out in each task. If you fail once, you fail the entire stage. TIMESTAMPS Stage 1 Easy 1:11 Stage 2 Normal 2:23 Stage 3 Hard 3:53 Stage 4 Very Hard 5:29 Results 7:06 SUMMARY Congratulations to all superhumans out there who made it. Your eyesight is fantastic! 92% of people failed at this task, and you managed to rock it! There is a chance you are a tetrachromat. This smart word is used to define people who have more receptors in their eyes than others and can see more shades of different colors. Did you manage to make it through all 4 stages? If you failed, at what stage did it happen? Let’s discuss it in the comments section! 19 Simple Psychological Tricks That Actually Work

07:48
Have you ever had to use psychological tricks to get what you want? There are a lot of psychological tricks and neuro-linguistic programming tips and there are millions of books and articles written about them. Many of these tricks really help professionals manipulate people and avoid being tricked by others. But are there tips that non-professionals can use on a daily basis? Psychology is a science with certain laws one cannot ignore. Modern marketing specialists, entrepreneurs, and even swindlers realize that. Bright Side offers a few psychological tricks you can use in everyday life to make it much easier and more exciting for you to reach your goals. TIMESTAMPS: #1 0:29 #2 0:58 #3 1:18 #4 1:46 #5 2:03 #6 2:17 #7 2:40 #8 3:06 #9 3:21 #10 3:36 #11 3:55 #12 4:20 #13 4:49 #14 5:19 #15 5:51 #16 6:04 #17 6:19 #18 6:38 #19 7:04 #psychologicaltricks #psychologicaltips #changelife Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Never start your request with the words "Could you..." It can cause the other person to subconsciously assume that this is a theoretical question - If you ever want someone to feel uncomfortable, look at the middle of their forehead during the conversation. - If someone you're talking to is trying to avoid answering a question, just make a pause in the conversation while still keeping eye contact. - When asking a question that you want an affirmative answer to, try to nod subtly as you make your request. This trick is often used by restaurants employees to make guests buy more food, and it’s pretty effective! - If a person is really concentrated on a task (let's say they're in the middle of a serious phone conversation), you can extend your hand to them and get anything they’re holding at the moment. - If you want somebody to do something for you, casually say how they probably wouldn’t even be able to do it. Most people will try really hard to prove someone wrong when it comes to doubting their capabilities. - Here’s a good one for negotiations. If you like a person's offer in general but would like to get better conditions, pretend to be a little bit disappointed. - As soon as your alarm clock goes off, sit up, make two fists, and yell "Yeah!" as if you’re a soccer player who's just scored a goal. It sounds bizarre, but it really does help you easily get out of bed feeling refreshed. - If a person tries to pull you into an argument or some drama, say something nice to them. The ol’ “kill ‘em with kindness” trick really does stop them in their tracks. - If you have that one lazy person on your team that slows the whole work process down, don't give them tasks by saying "Do this." It’s better to say "Start with this." - If someone is staring at you in the subway (happens all-too often, right?), just look at their shoes. Don't give up, keep gazing! It’ll drive them crazy! - If someone has done something wrong, but you don’t wanna sound too accusing, change the way you construct your sentences. - If you didn't get a good night's sleep, tell yourself that you did. I know, it sounds like nonsense, but it does work 100% if you say it with meaning! - People are better at remembering what happened at the beginning and end of the day. As for anything that went on in between, it gets blurry. A Japanese Technique to Overcome Laziness

04:25
Almost all of us periodically sets ourselves a new goal or challenge — and just as often in the end fails to achieve them. We end up telling ourselves that we’re just not ready yet, that we’ll do it next week, next month...next year. We might even pursue them with zeal at the start. But once we’ve made a small amount of effort, we’ll tell ourselves we’ve done enough, and it’s time to take this whole ‘starting a new life’ thing more slowly. Why does it always turn out like this? The answer’s fairly obvious: Because we try to achieve too much, too fast; because we get sick of the new responsibility; because it’s difficult to change old habits and try something new. Other videos you might like: 10 Quick Tips to Lose Weight If You're Lazy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvY31L_LXqA& 10 Moments All Lazy Girls Will Understand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QTIO1lGEDE 8 Signs You're Suffering from Depression Without Knowing It https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJvehKYb8mA& TIMESTAMPS: Why do we give up so easily? 0:27 How to stop procrastinating? 0:46 How does the method work? 1:43 Why does the method work? 2:29 SUMMARY: - The technique is called Kaizen, or the one-minute principle. Kaizen originated in Japan, and it is something that anyone can attempt in any sphere of their life. - At the heart of this method is the idea that you should practice doing something for a single minute. Every day at the same time. Just for a minute, no more. - Challenging programs of self-improvement that deprive you of vast amounts of energy can end up exhausting you, and leave no tangible results. - The one-minute principle lets you see the progress you’re making. And it’s a critical part of forming new habits! It’s important to overcome that lack of confidence you might have in your abilities, as well as free yourself from guilt and helplessness. - The moment those feelings inspire you, you will gradually begin to increase the amount of time you spend on the goal that you have set yourself. 13 Things Aquariums Are Hiding From You

08:34
Do you like visiting aquariums? They are loved by many. They make it possible for people to get acquainted with marine creatures they would otherwise never see. Unfortunately, not everything is so bright about the very concept of aquariums and marine parks. When the documentary "Blackfish" came out, the image of such entertainment establishments underwent a serious damage. Visitors often have a misconception that trainers in aquariums are specialists in marine biology. After all, they have such extensive knowledge about these creatures! Totally wrong. People who interact with animals and participate in shows are only performers. They have no professional credentials about orcas or other marine animals. They’re simply hired to entertain the crowd. TIMESTAMPS: Orcas are starved 0:45 People who work with orcas get killed 1:07 Orcas live shorter lives in captivity 1:51 Orcas have to live in tiny tanks 2:27 A collapsed dorsal fin isn't normal 3:17 Drugs are used on killer whales 3:52 Killer whales have problems with their teeth 4:25 Employees paint over the whales' sunburns 4:46 The trainers are not marine biologists 5:23 Captive orcas injure other animals 5:51 They artificially breed killer whales 6:20 Orcas are hurt by chlorine 7:08 Gelatin is used to keep orcas hydrated 7:37 Preview photo credit: Killer whale and trainer during a Shamu performance at Seaworld in Orlando, Florida: By Loadmaster (David R. Tribble), CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=9576553 Animation is created by Bright Side. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Giving a treat is a typical approach while training an animal. But unfortunately, these treats seem to serve as usual food. Employees are instructed to keep the orcas hungry. - In the wild, male orcas live for 70 years, while the females’ lifespan is even longer: 100 years. But in captivity, orcas don't have a chance to enjoy a long happy life. In most cases, they die as teenagers, usually after they turn just 13 years old. - The tanks these animals live in are immensely small for them. In fact, the length of one tank is one-millionth of the distance an adult orca can cross a day in the ocean. - In the wild, only 1% of all orcas suffer from problems with their fins. And if they do, it means they're sick or injured. - If orca misbehaves or gets too excited, trainers force-feed it sedative drugs. - To prevent the public from asking questions about the change of color on the whales’ skin, trainers cover their sunburns with zinc oxide. This substance is black and does a good job at masking the horror. - People who interact with animals and participate in shows are only performers. They have no professional credentials about orcas or other marine animals. - When orcas live in captivity for prolonged periods of time, they become extremely aggressive. But they don’t just hurt the trainers; they fight each other and other animals as well. - Chlorine levels in tanks are way too high and damage the health of the animals kept in them. As a result of all the chlorine, killer whales have mucus running from their eyes and problems with their vision. Just try to work out what’s going through that furry little head! It turns out that cats have their own language, and if you learn it there’s a chance you’ll understand them much better. We’ve put together all of the possible cat behaviors to help you find a common language with your pet (well, if it allows you to). Also, we’ve prepared three essential tips that will help you communicate with cats better. HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CAT • How to make your cat trust you Lowering your cat to the ground, make sure its paws have reached the floor. Your cat will trust you and know that it won’t tumble if you let it go. • How to stroke your cat If you sit on the floor with your legs crossed and look at your cat, it will interpret this as a friendly gesture and come up to you to let you stroke it. Also, stretch your hand out in its direction. Your middle finger should be a little lower than the others. The cat will start rubbing its nose or face against your hand. • How to make your cat appear A cat may go and hide and only appear when it’s alone or hears a calm voice. #understandcat #catbehavior #pet TIMESTAMPS Cat's tail 0:52 Cat's eyes 3:47 Cat's interaction with people 4:38 Cat gestures 6:14 Cat language 6:57 How to communicate with your cat better 8:09 MAIN CAT GESTURES • If a cat raises its nose up and throws its head, it’s saying, “I see you.” Cats often make this gesture to people walking past the window. Have you ever noticed it? • A cat might press its ears against its head if it feels scared, worried, or wants to play. They also do this when they are sniffing something that’s interested them. • When a cat sticks its tongue out slightly and licks itself, it’s worried or anxious. CAT LANGUAGE • Cats generally greet people or announce their presence with a short sound. • Lengthy meowing indicates that your cat is very glad to see you. This occurs if you’re away from home for a long time. • A medium-length meow might be a request for water or food. • A long sound (a mix of purring and meowing) is a more insistent request or demand. • A low meow is a complaint or indication of dissatisfaction. Also, it might mean your cat is ready to fight. • A loud sound often indicates an urgent demand (for instance, you cat needs more food). • A purring or vibrating sound indicates a desire for closer contact or attention. Cats purr for various reasons, but most often they do it when they are happy. Now you know how to find a common language with any cat. By the way, are you a cat person or a dog person? It actually helps export excess sugar from the blood into the cells of the body, bringing balance back to sugar levels. - Cloves contain vitamin K, which is essential for promoting healthy blood clotting. This is especially beneficial for those who have issues with excessive bleeding due to a vitamin K deficiency. 8 Tricks to Sleep Better According to Athletes

08:05
Do you have any sleep troubles? World-famous athletes owe a lot of their success not only to their intense training but also to their sleep coaches! That's right, getting proper sleep is crucial for their performance, and they can certainly teach us all a thing or two about it. For example, even if you don’t consider yourself a necessarily light sleeper, experts still recommend using earplugs. It’s often unexpected minor noises that interrupt our sleep and lower its quality, so a simple pair of earplugs can really come in handy. When choosing earplugs, remember to check their noise reduction rating. If you want them to block most sounds, go for the highest rating there is, which is 39 decibels. TIMESTAMPS: Set a schedule based on sleep cycles 0:47 Try to sleep on your side or back 1:50 Set the appropriate temperature in your room 3:02 Invest in good bedding 3:36 Make your bedroom as dark as possible 4:24 Eat the right food 5:07 Use earplugs 6:11 Resolve your stress 6:51 #sleepproblems #insomnia #goodsleep Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Sleep is usually measured in 1.5-hour cycles because that’s how much time your body needs to pass through all stages of sleep and restore itself completely. The best solution for adults is to sleep for at least 5 cycles through the night, which equals 7½ hours of rest. - Sleeping on your right side is one of the best sleep positions for your heart. It improves cardiac performance, reduces shortness of breath and palpitations, and lowers your heart rate. - The National Sleep Foundation suggests keeping your bedroom temperature at about 60-67°F. That’s because our body temperature naturally decreases to initiate sleep, and this room temperature range helps boost this important process. - The National Sleep Foundation reminds us that most mattresses have a lifespan of 8 years. If yours is much older than that, you should definitely start looking for a replacement. - Turn off the lights, close your curtains, and try to cover up all illuminated displays and buttons on your electronic devices. Achieving as much darkness as possible will help you successfully go through all stages of sleep and wake up feeling fresh as a daisy! - When you consume caffeine or fatty dishes that are high in sugar, your body temperature rises since it takes a long time for your system to digest that stuff. Of course, a higher body temperature is not what you want when it comes to sleeping. - No matter how great your mattress and pillow are, if you're feeling worried or stressed, you won't be able to sleep. So the solution is simple: try to calm down and relax before going to bed. One of the best ones is meditation! Why Cats Lie on Their Backs When They See You

09:28
While cats have been domesticated pets since the days of Cleopatra, there’s still a lot about them that remains a mystery. Like when they just roll over as you approach them, what’s up with that? Actually, when cats lie on their back and expose their bellies, it’s their way of saying “Hello, human!”! But it's not the only message a cat sends when it shows you its cute furry little belly. Today we're talking about cat behaviors. Why do they expose their belly? Why do they bring you dead animals? Why do they like watching from afar? There are plenty of other things they do that just have you scratching your head in confusion. Let's figure out together! Other videos you might like: 26 Facts About Cats That'll Make You Love Them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO_EunoUSWg& HOW TO UNDERSTAND YOUR CAT BETTER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz6yBbBRr8Y 19 Awesome Cats That Cost a Fortune https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLSZmmDBM9Y& TIMESTAMPS: Showing you its belly 0:43 Rubbing its head on you 2:15 Kneading 2:49 Blinking at you slowly 3:37 Watching from afar 4:01 Scratching your furniture 4:59 Chattering its teeth 5:45 Bringing you dead animals 6:43 Sitting in the most random places 7:22 Bursting with energy in the middle of the night 8:10 #cats #catbehavior #yourpet Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Be careful not to invade your cat’s space unless you know they love belly rubs and like to be touched. Look for other clues like their ears and tail. If their tail is moving back and forth and their ears are set back, this means they’d rather be left alone. - When a cat weaves through your legs and rubs its head on you, it's called bunting, and it involves a release of pheromones from a cat’s head. Basically, it’s as if they’re leaving their scent on you to make sure other cats know that you belong to them. - Have you ever been snuggling with your kitty when they start pressing their little paws into you over and over again? When cats do this sort of bread-kneading motion, it’s actually leftover from their kitten days when they used to nurse. - Has your cat ever made prolonged eye contact with you while blinking really slowly every few seconds? It’s awkward, I know! But this is actually a way for your cat to show you affection! - If you find that your cat is watching you from afar but never wants to engage, this could be a sign that they’re anxious or even mad at you. - Similar to how a dog urinates on things to mark their territory (which cats can do too sometimes, by the way), cats like to scratch furniture to show others what’s theirs. - If your cat’s teeth are chattering really fast, it doesn’t mean they have the chills. It’s actually related to a natural instinct to hunt. - Many animal behaviorists believe that your cat shares a successful kill with you as a way of thanking you for your care. Cats also do this in hopes that you’ll see how good they are, and you’ll pay more attention to them! - Cats seem to love squeezing into small spaces, even though it often looks terribly uncomfortable. They do this because it helps them feel protected and safe. - Many house cats hold in a lot of energy during the day and since they have nocturnal instincts, they often go nuts in the middle of the night. Do not eat too many sweets and fast food. Also, you should avoid carbonated drinks, salted nuts, and bakery products. - If your body type is apple, you tend to gain weight in your midsection. Therefore, the perfect diet for you is eating little and often. Eat six times a day, but reduce your portions. You need foods rich in fiber, fruits, vegetables, vitamin C, and low-fat dairy. - A pear-shaped body is characterized by a much larger hip measurement than bust measurement. Go with meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, seafood, greens, and foods with high protein content. What's Graphene And Why It'll Soon Take Over The World

11:18
What is graphene? What is it used for? The most amazing thing about this semi-metal of the future is the fact that you can produce it yourself in your living room! What is graphene, and why is it so amazing? One of the things that makes graphene so cool is that it’s the thinnest material you can imagine. It's just one atom thick! This means this material is mathematically 2-dimensional. And you can still hold this single layer of atoms in your hands! Surprisingly, graphene isn't a unique or rare substance. In fact, it has the same carbon structure as the graphite you use every day when you draw or write with your pencil! But at the same time, in 0.03” of graphite, there are about 3 million graphene layers! TIMESTAMPS: Why graphene is so amazing 1:05 How graphene was discovered 1:48 How expensive graphene is 2:15 What the properties of graphene are 2:41 How graphene can be used 4:50 Can you make graphene at home? 9:59 #graphene #thinnestmaterial #graphenelayers Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Graphene isn't a unique or rare substance. In fact, it has the same carbon structure as the graphite you use every day when you draw or write with your pencil! But at the same time, in 0.03” of graphite, there are about 3 million graphene layers! - Dr. Konstantin Novoselov and Professor Andre Geim discovered the wonder-material in 2004 at the University of Manchester. They were examining how efficient graphite is as a transistor. The story goes that graphene appeared thanks to sticky tape! - Graphene used to be incredibly expensive to manufacture. It cost a whopping $1,100 to produce enough graphene to cover the head of a pin. However, by the end of 2015, you could buy 0.35 oz of graphene for $1,000. - Graphene is incredibly stretchy. It can stretch as much as 25% of its length! This material is also really stiff. Actually, it’s the hardest material people know about — even harder than diamonds, and that says a lot! - One more great thing about graphene is its relationship with electricity. This material carries electricity more quickly, more precisely, and more efficiently than any other known material. - Graphene may be the answer to the water crisis many countries are facing. If we make membranes from graphene, they would be able to let water through while filtering out salt at the same time. - One layer of graphene is impressive enough. Can you imagine what you could achieve with 2 layers of this super material? Nothing short of incredibly strong body armor. - If producers start to use graphene in gadget manufacturing, we might end up with smartphones that can be bent in any direction. One of graphene’s main properties is its flexibility. - Graphene can be used in the beauty industry as well. It will be the perfect alternative to current hair dyes, most of which are still toxic and damaging to hair. - Well, you can potentially make graphene at home, provided you have enough time and patience to do so. How to Avoid an Attack If You're Being Followed or Watched

08:25
This may happen to anybody: you're walking home and suddenly notice that somebody is following you. Your natural reaction – having a panic attack – won’t help, but there are several ways how to protect yourself from being attacked or robbed. Remember, you should stay alert at all times. Any time you're going home, taking a dog for a walk, strolling the streets on your own, stay focused and observant. Glance around and behind yourself every half a minute or so. Try to notice everything out of the ordinary and analyze the situation. And if your instinct or reason tells you that somebody is stalking you, it's time for some actions. In case you’re sure you’re being followed, try to lose them. Cross the street as if you need to do this. If you're lucky, they may even lose you in a crowd, around a building, or behind cars. Check who is following you - confront the danger head-on. What is more, you immediately alert the person who is after you that you're well aware that they are on your tail. Sometimes, it's enough to cause a person to stop. Call your friends or, if you’re in immediate danger, call the police. If your cell phone's battery is dead or you can't use it, enter any establishment on your way, inform them that you're being followed, and ask them to call the police. If you decide to run away, go to areas full of people: first of all, your stalker may lose you among other people; secondly, they will unlikely hurt you or rob in front of others. If the criminal gets ahold of you, be cooperative, listen to the criminal, don't talk, and follow their instructions. If a person threatens you with a knife or a gun, such cooperation will lower the chances that they will harm you. If you understand that you're being attacked, use everything you have at hand to fight off the criminal. Keys, a heavy bag, fingers, fists, a book; you can use anything to protect yourself. #stalker #beingwatched #stranger Music: Butchers - Silent Partner https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS First of all, make sure that a stranger is following you 1:05 Pretend to be unaware 1:30 Cross the street 1:50 Turn around and look at your stalker 2:30 Contact friends and relatives 3:00 Call the police 3:36 Scream, yell and make as much noise as possible 4:14 Run away 4:33 Don't head for your home 5:34 If the criminal gets ahold of you 6:14 SUMMARY -Casually stop, pretending to be tying a shoelace or searching for something in your bag or pocket. Scan people behind your back memorizing some details of their appearance. -Make some stops, look in store windows, take a break to admire a pretty car choosing the dark ones to see the stalker’s reflexion without looking right at him. -To make the task more difficult for the person following you, cross the street or turn the corner. -Don't be embarrassed to turn around and check who is following you. -If you've made sure that you can't get rid of the stalker, text or call those of your friends or family members who are likely to be nearby. -If you feel that you're in immediate danger, and there're no people around, call emergency services. -Even if you simply shout "help me" or "fire," the criminal may get scared away. If not, try to get away yourself. -Don't feel embarrassed to start running. However, by no means move down any alleyways, corridors, or streets with only a couple of ways in and out; you can get trapped there. -Don't go home unless you're one hundred percent sure that nobody is following you. -If the criminal gets ahold of you, don't hesitate and give them all the money and other valuables you have with you. If you’re being attacked, kick the assailant in the groin region, poke their eyes, scratch, bite, strike them in the face with the open hand; your life can depend on that. Exercise 8 Minutes Before Bed, See What Happens In a Month

13:53
If you just can’t find time during the day to exercise, this bedtime workout will help you stay fit, flexible, and fabulous! You’ll go to bed feeling refreshed, you’ll sleep better, and your muscles will be nice and relaxed by morning. Watch our new video to follow along with this low-impact workout. It’s quick and easy, there’s no equipment needed, and you can squeeze it in before sleep. Whether you’re an early riser and the first thing you do is head to the gym or you prefer to exercise after you have some food in your system, people who exercise enjoy better sleep than those who don’t. According to the National Sleep Foundation, people who exercise lightly see a 49% increase in quality of sleep. TIMESTAMPS: Warm-up 0:41 Squats 2:20 Donkey kicks 3:42 Push-ups 5:05 Squat and side crunch 6:25 Plank-ups 7:52 Standing crossover toe touches 9:11 Cool down 1:32 #sleepbetter #homeworkout #insomnia Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - #1. To make sure you’re bringing your knee high enough, you can bend your elbows at a 90º angle and touch your knee to your hand. To make this move harder, add a slight jump to the exercise while you bring your knees up high. - #2. If you have a hard time balancing, extend your arms as you head down, and lower them while you stand. If that’s too difficult, you can place a chair behind you to balance yourself. - #3. Avoid using momentum and letting your leg drop back down as you’ll be missing out on the workout if you do. Keep the movement controlled. - #4. For an easier approach, you can modify the exercise by letting your knees rest on the floor. - #5. This move will target your abdominals and work on your oblique muscles. It’s a great exercise to get rid of love handles. - #6. This is a killer move that will strengthen your core, and it will also tone up your arms, shoulders, glutes, and abdominals. If this is too intense, try holding an elbow plank position: hold yourself up by your forearms for as long as you can. - #7. This move involves your lower back and targets your abdominals and obliques. It will improve your flexibility and strength. - #8. Doing this cool down will ensure that your muscles are nice and loose for when you get up in the morning. I Adopted Rich People’s Habits, See How My Life Changed

09:10
Learn the secrets of success from those who built their own empires from scratch. You can try adopting the habits of super rich people and see how it will help you save money. Successful people are rarely night owls; they go to bed and wake up quite early. So this was the first habit I decided to take on. By the end of the first week, I noticed that I was able to do way more before noon than I could ever do during the whole day. One more week into the experiment I started waking up completely well-rested and excited to start a new day. Self-made successes swear by exercising every day for at least 30 minutes. After just 10 days, it already became a habit. I became more concentrated and calmer. If meditating helps successful people stay on top of their game, it should help me out too. Networking is like currency for successful people. A lot of successful people (like Steve Jobs, for instance) keep a super minimalistic approach to fashion, often wearing the same outfit every day. Truly smart and successful people control their expenses and don’t spend their money on useless things. Music: Operatic - Vibe Mountain https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Go to bed and wake up quite early 0:34 Exercise every day for at least 30 minutes 1:51 Meditate 3:01 Set goals and achieve them 3:57 Meet new people as much as you can 4:44 Read more useful books 5:34 Wear simple clothes 6:24 Be thrifty 7:10 Conclusion 8:08 SUMMARY -With will power of steel, I decided to wake up at the same time every day and come to work an hour early. It took me 3 days to get the schedule right. -The hardest part here wasn't even the gym itself, it was exercising after working all day. After just 10 days, it already became a habit. I started sleeping better and waking up easier. -Meditation turned out to be a really good way to get my head straight and renew my energy. -Even though I didn’t manage to tackle all my tasks, I was able to do more things in the first week than I did during the entire previous month. -I learned to find common ground with people from the get-go, met a lot of extraordinary individuals, and made some really good friends. -I carried a book with me at all times and read it on the way to work and back home or during lunch. As a result, by the end of the first month, I had finished my fourth book. -I no longer had to waste time every day choosing my outfit, deciding whether or not it matched or if it was trendy and whatnot. -I started out by making a list of everything that I bought every day so that I could see what I spent my money on. This system helped me save 40% of my salary in the first month and almost 60% in the second. -New habits really did completely change my life for the better. If You Ever See This on the Beach, Cry for Help!

08:29
How do you recognize something that you can touch and something you have to run away from as fast as possible? Here is a list of the most dangerous sea creatures you can meet and how to recognize them! There are so many different species living in the ocean! Some of them are beautiful, some are deadly, and some are both. TIMESTAMPS Fire Coral 0:40 Flower Urchin 1:20 Cone Snail 1:50 Portuguese Man-of-War 2:32 Snea snakes 3:54 Lionfish 4:51 Chironex 5:39 Surgeonfish 6:15 Indonesian needlefish 6:59 Triggerfish 7:34 SUMMARY - Fire Coral. These small organisms can sting, and the effect can be not very serious and it can be quite bad. A stung person may have severe pains, feel nauseated and even vomit, which is not the best thing to do when you are underwater. - Flower Urchin is both very beautiful and very deadly. It contains toxins that can cause anaphylactic shock, convulsions and finally death. You can get poisoned if you step on it when you are in the sea or the ocean. - Scientists say that just one drop of the cone snail’s poison is enough to kill 20 people! Just one drop! - The most mind-blowing fact about Man-of-War is that technically we should call it Men-of-War, and refer to it not as «it», but «they», and here is why: it’s an animal that is made up of a colony of organisms cooperating together. Man-of-war has tentacles that can be 30 feet long, which it uses to paralyze and kill fish and other small creatures. - Sea snakes are much more venomous than their land-living friends. As it turns out, they have to be like that because they hunt fish, so what they need to do is immobilize their prey very quickly not to let it escape. - Many people call the lionfish the most beautiful sea creature in the world. You can find them in the Caribbean and Eastern Atlantic. Lionfishes are not deadly — they do have a venom, but it’s not lethal. However, the pain you will experience if you get stung is so severe that people say you might wish you were dead. - Chironex doesn’t have any teeth, but it’s dangerous as hell. If a person gets stung, they will have excruciating pain, red inflammation in the stung area and heart dysfunction. - Surgeonfish are easily spooked, so you should be extra careful if you see one of them. Don’t make any unexpected fast moves. The good news is, surgeonfish are not aggressive unless, of course, you provoke them. - Indonesian needlefish live in tropical and subtropical waters of the oceans. They, as the name suggests, have a very sharp, needle-like beak, and they are especially dangerous when they hurl themselves out of the water. - Triggerfish is mostly friendly, but only until you are a threat to its nest. The most dangerous are females — if you approach its nest even accidentally, it will bite you. Thankfully, the bites aren’t poisonous, but triggerfish have extremely sharp teeth, so the injuries it can cause need serious medical attention. A One-Day Starvation Secret Got the Nobel Prize

09:34
You probably know that most tissues in your body regularly replace their cells with new ones. Different organs need their own time to renew completely. And some tissues don't replace their cells at all. But have you ever wondered where the dead cells of your body end up? Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi, a Japanese cell biologist, spent years studying how human cells get rid of their waste. If this process in the body doesn't work correctly, a person can develop type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, some age-related diseases, and even cancer. And it turned out that when you fast, your cells live longer and produce more energy! Ohsumi was awarded the Nobel prize in physiology or medicine for elucidating "autophagy," an intracellular process that degrades and recycles proteins: By Kyodo/Associated Press/East News, https://www.eastnews.ru/pictures/picture/id/52380261/i/0/t/0 Animation is created by Bright Side. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - The first person who discovered autophagy was Belgian biochemist Dr. Christian de Duve. For this discovery, he got the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1974. - Surprisingly, studies show that they still have approximately the same amount of proteins and carbohydrates in their digestive system as they would if they ate animal protein. - The body can use its own protein in the form of dead and damaged cells and bacteria which have been previously stored away. - If your natural recycling mechanism doesn't work, damaged cells and their parts start to accumulate in the body. And it ends up unable to neutralize cancer cells and cells infected by dangerous viruses and bacteria. As a result, this can lead to various serious illnesses. - Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi found out that autophagy gets more intensive when the body is undergoing some stress. Such stress can be fasting, calorie restriction, or even starvation. - In all his studies, Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi used starvation and fasting to encourage the body to break down toxic cells and get rid of all the garbage. - Intermittent fasting, which is alternating the periods of eating and fasting, can help your body to clean itself. Besides, it can help you to lose weight and speed up your metabolism. - If you're a newbie in the world of fasting and the practice looks a bit intimidating, start with skipping your meals. In general, it's enough to skip one meal a day to boost your metabolism and trigger cleansing processes in your body. Just remember that if you've skipped a meal, you shouldn't overeat at the next one. - One more interesting conclusion you can draw from this research is that, despite what some people think, vegetarians don't suffer from a lack of animal protein. They just get it in a different way. Arthritic patients involved in the research took extracts of curcuminoids and enhanced curcumin. - Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles asked 40 adults aged 51-84 to take curcumin twice a day. The scientists monitored their cognition with the help of memory tests and noticed a visible improvement by the end of the trial. - While there’s no 100% effective universal cure against this deadly disease just yet, it looks like you can prevent pancreatic cancer with the help of turmeric. - In 2014, scientists in the Department of Zoology at the University of Delhi tested the anti-aging properties of turmeric. They concluded that genes regulating metabolism, DNA repair, and antioxidant systems actually control human lifespan. - Curcumin alters the composition of fat cells, turning undesirable white fat cells into the healthy brown kind. 10 Traits of Toxic Parents Who Ruin Their Children’s Lives

10:22
Raising children is very difficult and no one has the right to judge someone's particular parenting style. However, some parenting mistakes are more dangerous than others and can seriously damage your child’s health. This video will help you find out what actually affects a child’s psyche and teach those who have toxic parents how they can deal with this issue. When raised by narcissistic parents, children suffer from slowed-down emotional development or none at all, will most likely suffer from depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder when they become adults and grow up into an adult that’s either a self-saboteur or a person ready to sacrifice everything to achieve high goals. Children of toxic parents live in constant fear and apprehension. They’ll grow up into teenagers forced to listen to their parents' complaints, adjust to a "complicated situation", put themselves in their parents' shoes, and help, tolerate, and console them. Toxic parents might not see anything wrong whatsoever in telling all the relatives, neighbors, and family friends that deeply sensitive information the child was pressured into disclosing. These types of parents instill an inferiority complex in their kids since they don't wanna see their child try new things and succeed. Their narcissistic self-love generates fear at the thought of their child becoming better, smarter, and more successful than they are. These parents seem to “generously” offer something that their children don’t really need, but any refusal causes resentment. A grown kid starts thinking, "My parents probably just want some company and wanna feel needed." So they accept the help, thank the parents, and offer something in return. But there's no happy ending here because the parents will always remind their children of that "favor" they did for them. "Trust me, but I’m still gonna go through your stuff." 7:58 How to handle a toxic parent? 8:44 SUMMARY -When raised by narcissistic parents, children don't feel loved, heard, or seen, believe that how they look is more important than who they really are as a person. They don't feel support when they try to develop their true self. -For toxic parents, an emotional attack is synonymous with love and attention. -Kids of toxic parents probably believe that it's specifically their bad behavior that makes their father abuse alcohol to calm himself down. -Even if their kid performs much better than they did once upon a time, all of the child's achievements are taken for granted. -Toxic parents force their children to be sincere and later use the same personal information against the kids. -Toxic parents eagerly discuss their child's failures and flaws. -They enjoy boasting about their kids’ success so that others envy them. Plus, a successful child is a guaranteed better life for parents. -Parents treat their child like an object: they make all the plans and expect their kids to follow along. -Toxic parents never want to let their children go. Yet they’re always pointing out that the house, the money, and the food belongs to them. -The kids turn into prisoners in either case: if they refuse their parents' help, they’re ungrateful brats. If they accept, they’ll always be made to feel indebted. -If you try to restrict access to your personal territory, your parents accuse you of distrust or even hiding something illegal or immoral. -We don’t pick our parents, and we can’t really change them. The only thing we can change is our reaction to their actions. Limit access to your personal territory. Choose your personal interests over those of your parents. 10 Terrifying Places Science Still Can't Explain

13:01
How to Learn More about the Earth. The scientific community has made great strides in discovering a lot about the planet we call home. Yet there’s still so much we don’t know! In this video, we’ll tell you about 10 of the most mysterious and bewildering places on Earth that even scientists can’t explain! Magnetic Hill, Skeleton Lake, Boiling River and a Dancing Forest. Plus, some mysterious waters where ships disappear. TIMESTAMPS Skeleton Lake 0:56 The Hessdalen Lights 1:53 Lake Anjikuni 2:41 The Devil's Sea 3:43 The Lake Michigan Triangle 4:44 Magnetic Hill 6:11 The Devil's Kettle 6:57 The Patomskiy Crater 7:57 The Boiling River 9:55 The Dancing Forest 11:16 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -Every year when the snow and frozen water melt, Roopkund Lake in the Himalayas reveals 300 skeletons dumped in it. -The Hessdalen Lights occasionally turn yellowish or reddish, and nobody knows what makes them change color. -Canadian fur trapper Joe Labelle came to a village located on the shore of Lake Anjikuni to find it completely deserted. -Some folks call the Devil's Sea the Pacific Bermuda Triangle since ships and planes tend to disappear there with the same regularity as its North Atlantic counterpart. -The Lake Michigan Triangle has been gaining its notorious reputation since 1891 when a ship disappeared in its waters, along with its crew of seven sailors. -If you turn off the engine of your car and leave it in neutral on the Magnetic Hill, your vehicle will start climbing ahead, possibly at a speed of 12 miles per hour. -About a mile before the river empties into Lake Superior, a rocky outcrop splits it in two. And while the eastern flow drops 50 feet down and keeps flowing into the lake, the western part travels 10 feet down into a giant hole... and vanishes. -Located in Siberia, the Patomskiy Crater is described as a mound with a perfectly circular shape. It’s as big as a 25-story building, sits right in the middle of a wooded area with its top chopped off, and presents quite a sight. -The Boling River really is steaming hot. At a temperature of 187°F, it’s not exactly boiling, but it’s pretty close. -Located on the thin Curonian Spit that divides the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon is one of the strangest places on Earth. The pine trees in this forest have shockingly unusual shapes: they twist in spirals and circles along the ground. You probably remember learning about Queen Elizabeth I in school. She came to power in 1558 and was one of England’s greatest monarchs. We all know about her accomplishments as a ruler, but what about the stuff they don’t teach you in school? Have you ever heard, for example, that she cussed like a sailor? Yes, she was the Good Queen Bess, and yet she didn’t really care what came out of her mouth! Another amazing fact is that she supposedly had over 2,000 pairs of gloves. Her wardrobe was immense, and she never wore the same clothes twice. Interested? Learn more surprising facts about this outstanding woman! She was still kept under house arrest for almost a year, though. - Elizabeth’s predecessors died before they could produce an heir, so she took the throne. - Once she became queen, Elizabeth’s advisors started a campaign to make flattering portraits of her. Later on, these depictions would include details of classic goddesses like Venus or Diana. - Elizabeth was adamant that she wouldn’t marry any man in her lifetime, and she stood her ground. After all, she was a dedicated leader married to her country. - Being the Virgin Queen didn’t prevent Elizabeth from becoming the subject of all kinds of rumors. One of the most viable was that she was in love with her lifelong friend Robert Dudley. - She was very, very elaborate about her looks, and spent over 4 hours a day getting ready! Not only did she want to look immaculate, she also had other ways to stand out in a crowd… - While the Queen herself was always shining in her beauty, she required her ladies to only wear black or white, making them pale in comparison. - When she was young, she was gorgeous. But after a bout of smallpox, Elizabeth was left with facial scars and hair loss. - At the time of Elizabeth’s reign, sugary stuff was pretty expensive and reserved mostly for the upper class. Well, she used her position as the Queen to the fullest in that respect. - Despite the fact that her mom, Anne Boleyn, had been executed, Elizabeth loved her dearly, albeit secretly. 10 Extinct Animals Scientists Are Ready to Bring Back

10:09
Do you know that scientists are almost ready to bring back some species that have been long gone? A T-Rex and other dangerous creatures aren't on the VIP list, so we won't see them in the not-so-distant future. But some of our most beloved characters from the Ice Age movies can be brought back to life! Instead of using the controversial term “cloning,” scientists prefer to say “make un-extinct.” To-may-to, to-mah-to, the idea is the same. An animal that died out thousands of years ago can't be brought back to life unless it's cloned. And therein lies the problem. For successful cloning, scientists need to have almost completely undamaged animal DNA. That's why some species are more likely to be resurrected than others. Those animals that died out not so long ago are better candidates for un-extinction. They might still be preserved in museums or in permafrost that formed during the most recent ice age. TIMESTAMPS: The woolly mammoth 2:01 The saber-toothed tiger 3:00 The Moa 3:48 The ground sloth 4:27 The dodo 5:19 Woolly rhinoceros 6:12 The Irish elk 6:44 The Baiji river dolphin 7:26 The Siberian unicorn 8:05 The Neanderthal 8:55 #extinctanimals #siberianunicorn #iceage Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - While most of the woolly mammoths died out about 10,000 years ago, there was a population of about 500 to 1,000 of them living on Wrangel Island as recent as 1650 B.C.E. The woolly mammoth was roughly the size of an African elephant. - The saber-toothed tiger was about the size of your typical modern-day big cats. It weighed from 200 to 600 pounds and could get up to 13 feet long. The saber-toothed tiger usually had a muscular neck, bobbed tail, powerful front legs, and dagger-like teeth that protruded from the upper jaw and could grow just under a foot long! - The moa was a huge flightless bird that looked kinda like an ostrich, minus the wings. We know of about 10 members of the moa family. Some were no bigger than a turkey while others reached a height of 10 feet, making this bird the largest that has ever inhabited our planet. - Ground sloths are likely to be successfully resurrected since they were still walking the Earth about 8,000 years ago. Even better, some samples of their DNA have already been received from undamaged hairs of this animal. - The dodo became extinct just 80 years after it had been discovered. Its only known habitat was Mauritius Island, where the dodo had been living peacefully for who knows how long until the Dutch showed up in the 1590s. - Besides the woolly mammoth, there’s one more fluffy extinct creature, the woolly rhinoceros, that scientists want to bring back. This animal still lived in the Arctic snows pretty recently, about 10,000 years ago. This furry rhino is quite famous too; it often makes an appearance in ancient cave art, like in the French Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc Cave. - The Irish elk, also called the giant deer, was one more animal that didn't quite manage to survive the Ice Age. This creature mostly died out about 12,000 years ago. But researchers have discovered Irish elk fossils in Siberia that are only 7,000 to 8,000 years old. - The Baiji river dolphin went extinct in 2006, making it the first cetacean (that’s whales, dolphins, and porpoises) to die out directly due to the negative impact of human activity. It's obvious by now that since the extinction is quite recent, there’s a sea of DNA samples at hand that make resurrection pretty much a guaranteed success. - A Siberian unicorn skull discovered in Kazakhstan proved that the animal had actually disappeared just 29,000 years ago. That’s good news for people who wanna see a real unicorn someday! - Bringing the Neanderthal back would be the easiest task of them all. Scientists already have a map of its genome. It’s not a question of whether or not we can, but if we should… Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brightside/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brightgram/ 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: https://www.goo.gl/8JVmuC ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me/

11 Secrets to Memorize Things Quicker Than Others

10:46
We learn things throughout our entire lives, but we still don’t know everything because we forget a lot of information. Bright Side will tell you about 11 simple memorizing tips that will help you remember everything and improve your memory. TIMESTAMPS Why we forget things 1:04 How to remember everything 2:00 How to memorize something quickly 2:30 How to memorize something for a long time 3:20 Try to understand what you learn 4:17 Learn the most necessary information 5:11 Serial position effect 5:45 Interference theory 6:06 Learn opposite things 7:22 Build your own «mind palace» 7:22 Use «nail words» 8:19 Make up stories 8:40 Use a tape recorder 9:10 Visualize 9:51 Choose only the best materials 9:59 SUMMARY - Your brain is like a hard drive — the space is limited. Remember Sherlock Holmes? He couldn’t name all the planets of the Solar system — this was not because he missed school or something like that, but because he was too smart to have such irrelevant information in his memory. He deliberately erased facts he would never need. This is what your brain does: it protects you from overloading with information. That’s why all new data is stored in the short-term memory, not the long-term one. So, if you don’t repeat it or use it, you forget it very quickly. A German psychologist, Hermann Ebbinghaus researched the memory and its mechanisms. He described the Forgetting Curve which shows that just one hour after learning something new we forget more than half of the learned information. One day later we remember only about 30% percent. Well, you see where this is going. - There is a memorization technique called «Spaced repetition». To keep some information in your head for a longer time, you need to try to put it into your long-term memory. Forced memorization is not very effective in this case because your brain can’t make sense of the information quickly and form strong associations. Here it all depends on the reason why you are learning something. - To memorize something quickly, repeat the information right after learning it. The second repetition should be after 15-20 minutes. You don’t need to return to the information between repetitions — just rest and do something different. Let your brain relax. Repeat the learned material the third time after 6-8 hours. And you should have the final repetition 24 hours after the first contact with the information. Do you know any other memorizing tips? If yes, share them in the comment section below! Scientists Finally Discovered the Truth About Easter Island

10:09
We all know that the easter island heads have bodies – that’s not a mystery at all. But how did the easter island population build hundreds of statues? Scientists have recently solved this mystery and discovered where these people disappeared to and why. For many decades, people's minds have been occupied with the mystery of Easter Island. A remote piece of volcanic soil, far away in the Pacific Ocean... But our planet hosts thousands of such lonely islands, what is so particular about this one? The mystery is concealed not in the island itself but giant stone statues covering it. Who created the world-famous huge stone heads? Did they serve any specific purpose? Where did their creators arrive from and where did they disappear? Well, it seems the answer is finally just around the corner! TIMESTAMPS What do we know about Easter Island? 1:05 Amazing facts about Easter Island 2:18 How have the statues been moved around the island? 5:25 How could create Easter Island monuments? 7:24 What happened to people on Easter Island? 8:09 SUMMARY - Where is Easter Island located? Rapa Nui (which is the name given to Easter Island by its first inhabitants) is the territory of Chile and is situated in the southern Pacific Ocean. And it is so, so far that you can easily consider it one of the most distant places on the world's map. It lies 1,200 miles away from Pitcairn, which is its closest neighbor. - What's the main secret of the statues? Most statues (834 out of 887) were carved from the material called tuff which is, in fact, compressed volcanic ash. Curiously, all the statues except one group face inland. It means their backs are turned to the ocean. Perhaps the reason for that was the belief that the statues were the protectors of the villagers that's why they overlooked the settlement. The only statues not fitting into this pattern can be found at Ahu Akivi, a sacred place for the people of Rapa Nui. - Theories about how the statues had been moved. One of the most popular ones among the lovers of mysteries was the belief that the statues had been created and moved by aliens. But even if you like this theory, we are sorry to debunk it. The stone the statues were built from originates from the island itself. The birthplace of most of the material was an extinct volcano situated in the north-east of Easter Island and not another planet. - A new study about the island. A new study has been conducted recently to specify the maximum number of the inhabitants in the heyday of the island's civilization. The results arrived, and they were quite unexpected. It turned out that as many as 17 and a half thousand people could comfortably live on the island. At least 19 percent of the land could be covered with the fields of sweet potatoes that used to be the main source of food for the population. What is more, the islanders consumed quite a lot of seafood and fish. - Why did people on Easter Island disappear? At first, it was believed that the reason for such a decrease of the population was an ecocide. The natives cut out large forests and palm trees making spare room for moving the statues around as well as agriculture. They thought the trees were going to grow back fast enough. It was a misleading concept. The deterioration of the environment resulted in hunger. And this, in turn, led to wars and cannibalism. Nowadays, however, such a theory has been proven wrong. First of all, Rapa Nui inhabitants seemed to be very talented agricultural engineers. They deliberately fertilized the fields with the volcanic rock. In fact, another research has shown that people had been living on the island for many centuries. And the population only started to decrease when Europeans began visiting. 11 Signs Your Body Is 100% Unique

07:37
We’re going to tell you about exceptional physical skills and characteristics found in only a tiny percentage of people around the world (by the way, the rarest one is the first one). Each person has character traits, peculiar only to him or herself. Aspects of the psyche that are — if present in others at all — extremely rare. But did you know that our bodies can possess many unique features too?! TIMESTAMPS You have a flexible tongue 0:39 22% of people are capable of wiggling one ear 1:35 You can wiggle individual toes 2:06 Darwin’s tubercle 2:48 Diastema 3:23 You can raise one eyebrow 3:45 Dimples on the cheeks 4:16 Holes above the ears 4:54 Hitchhiker’s thumb 5:34 Missing tendon 6:05 You can touch your elbow with your tongue 6:40 SUMMARY - Researchers even went as far as to conduct a special study on the subject. 63% of the test participants managed to fold their tongue into a roll, 14% managed to bend it in half, and less than 1% were able to shape their tongue into a triple pipe. - Approximately 22% of people on the planet are capable of wiggling one ear, while no more than 18% can do it with both ears. But this was not always so: our distant ancestors used to be true virtuosos at making all sorts of movements with these body parts. - No matter how you try, you won’t be able to wiggle each of your toes in turn. That’s because only the big toe and the little toe are fitted with individual muscles, while the rest are controlled en masse by just one set of muscles. - The protruding segment on the inside or outside of the ear is called Darwin’s tubercle. The famous scientist once suggested that this feature was the consequence of the fact that early people’s ears used to be pointy. - Diastema is a gap between the front teeth, occurring in about 20% of humans. From the viewpoint of dentists, it’s an anomaly that requires medical intervention. - Scientists believe that early humans were able to wiggle their eyebrows separately — the way certain present-day species of monkeys do at the sight of danger. - Possessed by approximately 25% of the world’s population, dimples are a defect in the structure of the zygomatic muscle, which is responsible for smiling. In people with this physiological feature, a small bundle of the muscle gets attached to the bone. - Approximately 5% of people on the planet are born with a small hole above one or both ears. Interestingly, in the USA, such people constitute less than 1% of the population, while in Asia this distinction is diagnosed in approximately 10% of newborns. - Hitchhiker’s thumb is a physiological phenomenon in which the upper phalanx of the thumb can bend 90 degrees in the direction opposite to the palm. This hyperextensibility is caused by the presence of a special gene, known as the "bendy thumb gene." And such a feature is inherited and occurs in about 25% of people. - Gather all the fingers of one hand together, and tense your wrist. If the tendon on the inner side of the wrist doesn’t become visible, you must be one of the 14% of people who don’t have the long palmar muscle. - It is believed that no more than 1% of people in the world have this ability. To perform the trick, you need to have a particularly short forearm and a long tongue. #humanbody Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brightside/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brightgram/ 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: https://www.goo.gl/8JVmuC  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me/

12 Signs You're Eating Too Much Sugar

08:22
Most people think only diabetics have high blood sugar levels. Yet this isn’t so. Any person can suffer from this and may not notice the harm being done to nerves, blood vessels, and organs. To prevent complications, you should recognize worrying symptoms in time! Pay attention to sign #3 – if you notice it, you should call a doctor immediately. It’s a sign that you probably eat too much sugar. - You haven’t woken up yet, but you already feel tired. There is a simple explanation for this. At a high blood sugar level, your body can’t store and absorb glucose properly. - If the blood sugar is too high, the kidneys cannot reabsorb fluid. - A dry mouth and thirst are responses to severe fluid loss. The hypothalamus, which causes thirst, sends a corresponding signal to the brain. - With a high glucose level, you can lose weight within a short period (even if your meals contain a lot of calories). - Urinary tract infections and yeast infections can occur in both men and women. However, more often they occur in women with high sugar levels and diabetes. - Leg skin problems are a sign of narrowing of the arteries and poor blood circulation. - High sugar levels prevent glucose from entering the brain cells, so the brain experiences difficulties obtaining energy. - Blurred vision is also the result of a dehydrating effect due to high blood sugar, and it also affects the cells of your eyes. - Do you notice your wounds and cuts heal slower than usual? That happens due to vascular damage (it’s a result of high sugar levels). - Alas, difficulties maintaining an erection can also occur because of high blood glucose. - According to research, people with high sugar are more anxious. It does not come with a name tag and is easy to confuse with edible straw mushrooms and caesar’s mushrooms. It can be found in different parts of Europe. - Conocybe filaris might look cute and innocent but can cause death, or severe pain. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, you have most likely seen it growing in the lawns. - Destroying Angels abundantly growing in North America is super toxic and not exactly edible. They belong to the genus Amanita. - Clathrus Archeri looks like it was sent from outer space to destroy the humankind, or straight out of hell to remind us to be nice people. In fact, that thing is more than real and terrestrial. - Devil’s claws come from Arizona and are even used for basket weaving by Native Americans. - Bloody Tooth likes to live in the forests and mountains of North America, Europe, Iran, and South Korea. - Porcupine Tomato comes from Madagascar but is not even remotely as cute as the lemurs we all love. It can grow 8 feet tall and 8 feet wide in no time. - Fraxinella, also known as burning bush, dittany, and gas plant thrives in the warm climate of southern Europe, North Africa and most of Asia. 16 to 39 in tall and looking sweet and innocent, it is hiding its killer nature behind the little flowers. - Giant Hogweed comes from the Caucasus Mountain region between the Black and Caspian Seas. It came to Europe in the late 19th century, and a few decades later became wide-spread in America, as well. - Death Camas might look like a great addition to a summer flower composition. However, if you see them growing in the field or your backyard, do not bring them home. - The toxins in Oleander are so powerful even honey made by bees that pollinated its flowers can kill or seriously hurt people. Its leaves and sap can irritate and damage your skin. - Doll's Eye might have a more terrestrial origin, but one thing is true for sure. The entire plant contains cardiogenic toxins. If you dare to eat them, they will immediately affect your cardiac muscle tissue and very likely kill you. 09:37
Why are Japanese people so thin? What do people eat in Japan? While the rest of the world is seeing anywhere from 15 to over 30% of its population severely overweight, Japan has managed to keep that number at just 3.6%. When it comes to health tips, it's better to turn to the country with the longest life expectancy and one of the lowest obesity rates on the planet. If you’re ready to find out how the Japanese manage to stay so effortlessly thin, keep our new video! In Japan, they usually stick to 3 wholesome meals a day that don’t leave them hungry or dealing with sudden cravings. Those who do snack keep it in small quantities and with a lot of moderation. Also, the secret to Japan’s success begins with their diet, which is pretty carb-heavy and low in saturated fats. Their main dishes of choice include vegetables, grains, fish, and meat. Dairy products and fruits are consumed in moderation. They tend to stay away from foods with excessive amounts of salt and sugar, like burgers and soda. TIMESTAMPS: Diet 0:50 No snacking 1:39 Fast food 2:02 Eating on time 2:58 Exercise for kids 3:44 Portion sizes 4:27 A great public transportation system 5:20 Tea time 6:15 Dinnerware 7:25 Food as an experience 8:09 #japan #japanesediet #japanesefood Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - The secret to Japan’s success begins with their diet, which is pretty carb-heavy and low in saturated fats. Their main dishes of choice include vegetables, grains, fish, and meat. - Just like the rest of the world, a lot of Japanese people have a hectic schedule that doesn’t leave a lot of time or opportunity to prepare a home-cooked meal. In that case, they can turn to their version of fast food, which is usually a lot healthier and resembles home-style cooking. - Most Japanese people have very regulated meal times. They eat 3 filling meals a day, with breakfast usually happening between 8 and 9am, lunch from 12 to 1pm, and dinner between 6 and 8pm. - It’s a lot more common for Japanese children to walk or cycle to school. Of course, other countries have a lot of reasons why it might not be efficient or safe for kids to hoof it to class. - Portion sizes have been on a steep rise in the last 20 years throughout the world. For example, countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, the U.S., and the U.K. have much larger fast food portions than Japan. - Separate bicycle lanes and plenty of safe areas for pedestrians are common sites in Japan. This allows the Japanese to naturally burn calories as they commute to and from work or school every day. - Tea, especially the green variety, is the number one beverage in Japan. Green tea has been praised for having a ton of major health benefits, like increasing metabolism, burning fat, fighting anxiety, and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, to name a few. - The practice of using chopsticks also helps in weight management, since they make you eat more slowly and in smaller bites. This slow process of eating helps people catch when they’re feeling full and avoid eating too much. The fact that food is served on a bunch of plates also slows down the process. - The number one way that the Japanese stay thin has to do with removing distractions and being mindful about the process of food consumption. Eating in Japan is treated with respect. 15 Accidental Inventions You Can't Imagine Your Life Without

11:40
Some of the greatest inventions we use every day were created by accident. From the microwave to ice-cream cones, the accidental inventions on this list completely changed our way of life. Sometimes things don’t go according to plan. But every now and then, it’s for the better! American chemist Roy J. Plunkett was doing research for the company Dupont to make fridges safer and invented a strange substance that was non-reactive, non-stick, and resistant to extreme temperatures. We all know it as Teflon. John Pemberton was a pharmacist trying to find a way to get rid of headaches. He came up with a simple recipe consisting of two ingredients: coca leaves and cola nuts combined into a syrup. It was later mixed with soda by accident and became a huge hit. Dr. Spencer Silver, a chemist for 3M Company, was trying to create a super strong adhesive but what he got instead was a “low-tack” yet high-quality adhesive only strong enough to hold up a piece of paper but durable enough to be relocated multiple times without losing its stick. We all know and love it as Post-it notes today. The first antidepressant was discovered in 1957 and was supposed to be a cure for tuberculosis. Wilhelm Roentgen unintentionally put his hand in front of an electron-beam tube back in 1895 and noticed that the radiation passed through solid objects and body parts leaving a shadow. And now we have x-ray imaging! TIMESTAMPS Matches 0:41 Teflon 1:33 Potato chips 2:25 Ice-cream cones 3:16 Coca Cola 4:03 Post-It notes 4:37 Safety glass 5:26 Vulcanized rubber 5:57 Plastic 6:50 Antidepressants 7:34 Implantable pacemaker 8:00 Antibiotics 8:28 X-rays 9:09 Superglue 9:42 Microwave oven 10:20 SUMMARY -British pharmacist John Walker noticed that one of the sticks he used to mix the chemicals had some substance on it that caught fire easily. -American chemist Roy J. Plunkett was trying to make fridges safer and accidentally created non-reactive, non-stick substance resistant to extreme temperatures. -New York chef George Crum decided to change the way he cooked potatoes to avoid customer complaints. -The ice cream booth at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis was running out of bowls and tried using waffles instead of them. -Pharmacist John Pemberton was trying to find a way to get rid of headaches and invented the syrup of coca leaves and cola nuts. -3M Company chemist failed to create a super strong adhesive but gave the world the famous sticky papers. -French chemist Édouard Bénédictus noticed that the beaker that didn’t shatter after falling off his desk had had a thin film of liquid plastic in it. -Charles Goodyear mixed rubber with sulfur and accidentally dropped it on a hot surface – that’s how vulcanized rubber was invented. -Plastic was accidentally created in search for a cheaper alternative for shellac but became something way more useful. -The first antidepressant was discovered in 1957 and was supposed to be a cure for tuberculosis. -Wilson Greatbatch added the wrong electronic component to what was supposed to be heartbeat recording gadget and created the pacemaker. -Scottish scientist Alexander Flemming noticed that mold killed the bacteria in a dish in his messy laboratory and saved a great number of lives with his invention of penicillin. -Wilhelm Roentgen unintentionally put his hand in front of an electron-beam tube back in 1895 … and invented x-ray imaging. -In 1942, Kodak researcher Harry Coover was working on transparent plastic for gun sights when he accidentally created an extremely adhesive substance that stuck to just about anything. -Navy radar specialist Percy Spencer noticed that the bar of chocolate in his pocket melted near a microwave-emitting magnetron. And this is how the microwave oven was invented in 1945! 8 Vital Body Parts You Know Nothing About

04:36
The human body is a whole universe with its laws and mysteries, many of which we have yet to unravel. Have you ever wondered why we'd got a groove between our nose and top lip? It’s called the philtrum, and it exists for a reason. Most specialists agree that the philtrum developed in humans in prehistoric times and played the role of smell amplifier. In addition, sometimes a wrongly shaped philtrum tells of autism or other conditions. I'm quite certain you didn't know about that. So, we at Bright Side decided to tell you about 8 vital parts of our body to which we often pay no attention. TIMESTAMPS: The anatomical snuffbox 0:31 The big toe 1:01 Glabella 1:26 Frenulum of the tongue 1:55 Tragus and antitragus 2:17 Tonsils 2:41 Nail cuticles 3:14 The philtrum 3:47 #bodyparts #nailcuticles #anatomy Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - If you stretch your thumb a bit, you’ll see a small triangular pit at its base. This is what medics call an anatomical snuffbox: in the past, people used it to snuff tobacco. - Because of the peculiar shape of the big toe, we can infinitely balance in a standing position, which is one of the main differences between humans and other mammals. - Tap your finger a few times between your eyebrows. If your reflexes are fine, you’ll feel a slight tension in your eyes and want to blink. - This little fold beneath your tongue has an important function: it fixates the tongue in the mouth and makes it less flexible. - Here’s an interesting fact: the names of these little bumps in our ears come from the Latin word tragos — "a goat." The tragus helps us hear sounds coming from behind, amplifying them and detecting their source. - The tonsils are the first barrier protecting us from bacteria and viruses by secreting lymphocytes. When they inflame and get removed, the body still has other protective mechanisms, but it’s safer with the tonsils. - The cuticles an important function: they protect our hands from harmful bacteria that are especially abundant in big cities. If bacteria get into your body through a tiny wound made by cutting the cuticle, washing your hands won’t help. 10 Morning Habits That Can Ruin Your Day

10:01
Wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Perhaps it’s because you’re guzzling down a bunch of coffee or jumping in a hot shower right after you wake up? Or maybe when you first open your eyes in the morning, you can’t fight the urge to see what’s new on social media? These may not be the best ways to start your morning. Old habits die hard, that’s why we do some things without even thinking about how harmful they are — especially in the morning when we don’t have time to spare. So today, Bright Side wants to talk about ten things many of us do every morning that are actually harmful to us. You’ll learn how to make your morning and the day that follows better than they ever were before. That’s because when you fall back asleep in between alarms, you enter into a new sleep cycle without completing it. This makes you feel even more groggy and disoriented than you did when you awoke to your first alarm. - While this is a very common morning habit for most of us, looking at your phone right after you open your eyes can cause you to feel unnecessary stress and anxiety before you even get up to brush your teeth! - While there isn’t anything wrong with enjoying a steaming cup o’ joe in the morning, this shouldn’t be the first thing you sip on after waking up. - By making your bed every morning, you’re completing a healthy ritual that will carry on into your day. You’ll be more productive and motivated to tackle the day ahead! - Opt for a protein-rich breakfast. This will keep you fuller for longer and, it’ll give you long-lasting energy to keep you productive and focused all day long! - According to life coach Kirkland Shave, natural sunlight releases cortisol in the body, which helps you concentrate and make smart decisions throughout the day. - Don’t do any strenuous exercising or stretching first thing in the morning, though. You can hurt yourself since your muscles and discs aren’t warmed up yet. - Brushing your teeth after breakfast may do more harm than good. You see, if you’ve consumed something acidic like coffee or fruit, that acid thins the enamel of your teeth. So, brushing them right after can wear away that weakened enamel. - People need time to wake up and get their bearings before they can think about important things to talk about on the phone. It’s best to wait until about 9:30am to start making phone calls. - The cold makes your brain release feel-good endorphins and natural adrenaline. If you can’t stomach a cold shower, at least take a lukewarm one.
